globein-oct-2015-mug

Le Souk Ceramique Latte/Soup Mug - Value $11

This mug is different from the one shown in the spoiler pictures (a tall coffee mug), so I reached out to GlobeIn to get more info:

Originally everyone was supposed to get the same shape (like the one on the promotional photos). But the artisans had a major setback with shipping so we had to buy the two variations of the mugs. These things happen when you work with small producers and we try to do our best to make it work.

As promised all the mugs will be featuring Tunisian designs/patterns, we think that's the most important part and hope that our customers will appreciate them.

Our customers will receive a combination of these mugs: the original ones and the latte shaped ones (in different designs/patterns). All the customers using the COZY code will receive two identical mugs, i.e. same shape and same design/color.

Most importantly, we will be sending an email to all our customers about this issue before shipping out the October Boxes. We will do our best to accommodate everyone's requests.

I was originally disappointed to not get the tall mug, but now I'm thinking I can use this mug for both tea and soups, so it works even better for the fall cozy theme! (This mug measures 5.5 inches across).

And the pattern on this mug is beautiful:

And my favorite part: these mugs are dishwasher and microwave safe!

globein-oct-2015-scarf

Marquet Scarf – Value $22

(Subscribers will receive one of multiple colors). This scarf is made with 100% cotton and measures 62 x 22 inches.

globein-oct-2015-wrap

This scarf isn’t super warm, so I think it could work for different climates. The weave is somewhat loose, and the strings are knotted at the ends.

globein-oct-2015-cocoa

Divine Cocoa - Value $5

This is pure fair trade cocoa powder. I'm happy to see that it isn't a dairy blend. This way I can make hot cocoa with coconut milk! GlobeIn also included recipes for "Simple, Creamy and Surprisingly Healthy Hot Cocoa," and "Cocoa Roasted Almonds."

globein-oct-2015-basket

Palm Leaf Basket – Value $12

Each box comes with some of the contents packaged in a palm leaf basket. (I think I get a different color each month – they’re great for storage).

Verdict: This box has a value of about $50. I think that's great for a subscription box that focuses on fair trade and giving back. Plus I've been impressed with the curation with these boxes. They definitely nailed the cozy theme!

What do you think of the October 2015 GlobeIn Artisan box? Which mug version are you hoping to receive?

At this point I’m getting two boxes and I was a little disappointed that both contained the short latte bowls. That said, they’re beautiful … one is red and the other tan (I believe). I’ve had this little nagging voice in the back of my mind since I saw the mugs “in person” and I hate to bring this up but do we know anything about the paints being used to create these beautiful designs? There’s still a lot of lead paint out there and unfortunately many nasty items that are banned in the US are still in use in emerging nations. I wouldn’t think about it if these were vases or strictly ornamental. Anyone know?
Both of my scarves are in the tan, neutral shade and I didn’t have a chance to unfold them yet but the weave is lovely (although someone above mentions shedding). I really do love these Globe In boxes! I hope they offer a Black Sunday discount code so that I can gift a few of these subs to friends for the holidays.

I got my first ever box today & I got the latte mugs & they’re beautiful (I got the bonus one) I do have tall mug envy but if I can’t find anyone who has two tall for two latte I’ll buy some from the shop – I have a mug problem & I won’t be able to hide these in my cupboard

I received my box today and got a beautiful tall mug in white with red…and just a little blue…it really is beautiful..I also got the scarf in navy which I really like…..this was a great box and really looking forward to Novembers box!

I got my box. I got my requested tall mug. I got a simple blue and white one. I like it.

I got the cream scarf (which I knew I wouldn’t use but have someone I can gift it to).

I received the natural colored scarf, which is beautiful!!! But it’s really messy lol I had placed it on the back of the kitchen chair and when my husband stood up, his black shirt was covered in those tiny fuzzies! Just moving it caused it to shed on my shirt. So unfortunately unless I wear the exact clolor of the scarf I won’t be able to wear it at all. And I can’t display it on say the couch, because then I’d have to lint roll the couch! I hate it, because it’s really beautiful!!!! Not sure if anyone else is having the same experience or not, hopefully not!

Mine should be arriving tomorrow so we’ll see… thanks for the heads up!

I got mine last night, I got the navy scarf, which is absolutely beautiful. I got a tall mug that’s white with a blue design on it, not as delicate as the one shown, but still really pretty,

I got my box today and I’m thrilled with the tall mug. I got a beautiful tan color mug. My only issue is that the bottom of the mug has small chip. I also have a fingerprint smudge on the handle. I guess they wanted me to have a signed mug! I got the natural color scarf which is gorgeous. I always thought I’d want the dark blue one pictured but I love this one! This is my first Globein box and I’m really happy with this month’s box.

Aimee

I think the fingerprint is a really cute. It gives your mug character. If the chip is bothersome, you should contact Globein. The customer service is fantastic. I can’t wait to get mine!

Lindsay

I requested a tall mug, and just got my box yesterday– with the exact mug in the spoiler so SUPER happy about that! I was hoping for that print. I also got my scarf in grey which is perfect. So happy!

Jayne

I got the email and requested the tall mug. I think sending this email is a great way to handle issues with customers. It shows that the company cares. It is one of the reasons I subscribe.

Laura

Hi Jayne,

Just curious if you received a response from GlobeIn. I sent them an email last night requesting the tall mug but have not heard anything back. I am sure they are busy with customer inquiries, but I was just wondering if anyone had been emailed back.

Reply ButtonReply

Jayne

Laura, I did not hear back….although I guess I wasn’t expecting to. I am hoping they are just working behind the scenes to make accommodations.

TMT

I sent an e-mail early yesterday morning requesting the tall mug, but still haven’t heard back. Perhaps they may still be able to accommodate requests even if they can’t reply to each e-mail???

nelliebelle1197

I heard back right away and had several emails answered back and forth last night.

Miccarty

I got the email too… I thought that about the time the second spoiler came out, that they said there would be variations on both the mug and scarf, so I’m not surprised that some are different in style or design. I was a little bummed at the time, just because the mug in the spoiler pic is so pretty. I didn’t email them a preference. I’ll be psyched if I get the tall/bluepink variation, but as I have a ton of regular mugs I’ll have no worries if it’s the other one, as I can eat my oatmeal out of it!

Reply ButtonReply

Ann

I agree that I don’t think subscribers will be upset about the variation. GlobeIn certainly didn’t mislead us. Imps my opinion they have handled the situation well. And as pointed out this is a hand painted item and in when it’s a small artisan company things can happen that are beyond anyone’s control. It’s not like some of us aren’t getting mugs. I’d love the tall mug but would also enjoy soup out of the short mug.

Reply ButtonReply

Ann

I think the short mug is cute but I was wanting the tall mug to drink tea at work. I emailed them to ask for it so we will see how it goes.

Reply ButtonReply

Teresa

I got an e-mail explaining the situation and showing both mugs, with the option of requesting one or the other. They couldn’t promise to fulfill the request, but they said they would do their very best to do so.

Reply ButtonReply

Dee Ann

I got that email too. Now I’m even more conflicted. I don’t think I can pick a favorite. I think I’ll just go with whatever they send me and maybe try to swap or buy the other style later.

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

I am really hoping for the taller mug. Both are nice, but I have been a subscriber for quite some time and I hope that they send me the taller of the two. I wound’t mind the second option, but I was really hyped by the spoiler 🙂 This is my favorite sub 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Stephanie

*wouldn’t

Reply ButtonReply

Marissa

If anyone gets either mug and doesn’t want it please consider swapping me it! Clicking on my name goes to my swap profile. I totally agree about that being perfect for soup Liz! Especially this season.

Reply ButtonReply

Christen

I’d be happy with either one, so whichever I get, if someone ends up wanting to swap for the other, I’ll come back and offer it. I drink coffee/tea and have soup as often as I can, so I really can’t go wrong with either one. Maybe I should try to get both….

Also, does anybody have any unique ideas for storing/using the baskets? I’ve been using them to “try” to organize my subscription box samples,

Reply ButtonReply

Aimee

I have several in my liquor cabinet to organize/store my smaller items such as wine stoppers, glass charms, aerator, etc. I also use them in the linen closet to organize/store nail polishes, perfumes, lotions, etc. I use them in my son’s room for puzzles and game pieces. They also are great for gifting

I signed up for this box based on that tall mug spoiler. Both are beautiful so I’ll wait to see what it really looks like in person. I really wanted the tall mug. Hopefully, if I don’t like the short one I can swap with someone who doesn’t want the tall one after seeing the shorter version. I’m not mad at all. I would just prefer that tall mug! I own nothing like it.

Reply ButtonReply

AmyM

OH! I actually like the alternate mug better than the original (which I still think is lovely). But this shape is much more practical as I default to soup for dinner at least 3 times a week. I’ll be perfectly satisfied either way. Side note: Liz, you always get the scarves to drape so beautifully!

Reply ButtonReply

mimi

I like both mug shapes, so whichever I get is fine. As far as the comment about either not posting spoilers or mentioning the possibility of variations, while I would normally agree, in this case since they’re handmade I think it’s a little different. I have a feeling that at the time the spoiler was first published, GlobeIn thought they would have enough of the taller shape to fill everyone’s order — it was only later that they found out they wouldn’t. That’s different than some of the other boxes that know they’re going to have variations from the beginning.

Mailbox Junkie

Hooray for dishwasher safe!

Reply ButtonReply

SarahP

I’m thrilled GlobeIn was able to place such a large order with the Tunisian ceramics artisans, but I do also hope I get the tall mug from the original spoilers! I love the idea of using it as a small vase! Either way, I love this curation.

Reply ButtonReply

Mona

I love both mug shapes so I will try to swap for several (I’m already getting one). They are all so beautiful!!!

Reply ButtonReply

barbara

I really hope I get the taller mug….ugh….I don’t really like the shorter one.

Reply ButtonReply

Becki

I was already signed up, so I can’t be too upset. But, they should avoid spoilers or mention that there will be variations. If I weren’t signed up, that cup would have pushed me over to doing so. So, I’m sure there were many others that did. That being said, I totally love GlobIn boxes!

Reply ButtonReply

Jayne

I didn’t sign up for this sub specifically for the mug so I guess I can’t be too upset (I would definitely be if I had though). However, I really hope that I get the taller mug. I don’t drink coffee/tea/soup/hot cocoa so it really won’t be of any use for me. And, I really can’t think of anyone to gift this too (the scarf, yes, but not the mug…..sigh).

Liza is always very helpful but I’m afraid she may get pushed to her limits on this one. I have a feeling there will be a lot of people who are upset.

Reply ButtonReply

Nelliebelle1197

I disagree. I think most people will be fine with it. Globe in is an artisan box, not a box full of mass produced stuff. I think most people will understand.

Reply ButtonReply

nana

I’m sure there will be plenty of people willing to swap for it. The cup is gorgeous.
