Box of Happies Subscription Box Review September 2015 - items 1

Box of Happies Handmade Necklace – value: $12

I absolutely love this necklace – it’s a great length, simple, silver, and I’ve been super into crystals and stones lately.

Box of Happies Earrings – value: $8

Again, a pretty simple and silver jewelry item! These little flower studs will get plenty of wear.

Free Moment Zipper Pouch – value: $4.99

(The info card says $5.99 but their Etsy shop sells these pouches for $4.99 so I used that value instead.) When I saw this pouch I wasn’t sure what it’d be best used for, but their Etsy shop lists it as a travel pouch for earbuds! Great idea.

Rock Hound Soap Crystal Soap, Cherry Blossom – value: $5.99

This is a really pretty and interesting bar soap! I’m digging the crystal design a lot and the cherry blossom scent smells great.

The Verdict: This month’s Box of Happies has a value of $30.98 which is a little lower than I’d like. I’m sure I will use everything in this month’s box, though, so I’m not too bummed.

  1. So for me this month is a win. I guess it’s not so much about the actual value for me as the perceived value. I feel like I’m going to wear/use every single piece.

  2. This stuff is cute, but, the “handmade” necklace is a machine-made chain, with machine-made findings (the clasp, etc.) The stone was likely polished in a machine. What’s handmade about it???

    • I understand your point but at this price I don’t think you would find a handmade chain or clasp… A friend of mine “makes” jewelry ( does great bead work!) but basic components are purchased and assembled. I think the curator wanted to provide a necklace with the earrings. These are clearly not high-end pieces but different fun “finds” from various sources. My two cents, anyway….

    • It would be more appropriate to label this a “hand assembled” necklace as the components are not hand made or hand finished, but purchased. That said, I have always assumed that some shops or makers will do this specifically to provide a piece at a lower cost simply so they can afford to include it in such a box.
