Your Bijoux Box Jewelry Subscription Review – September 2015

Your Bijoux Box is a monthly jewelry subscription box for women. With every box you get 3 pieces of jewelry picked by Your Bijoux Box stylists. (This is not a customized box – everyone gets the same 3 pieces, however, I believe you can request no earrings if you email them).

Your Bijoux Box sent us this box for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Your Bijoux Box

The Cost:  $35 a month

The Products: 3 pieces of hand curated jewelry at your doorstep each month.

Ships to: US and Canada

Check out all of my Bijoux Box reviews and the Women’s Subscription Box Directory!

And each box comes with a card detailing the pieces included, plus they add some styling tips.

Crimson Mimosa Bangle

This is the first time Your Bijoux Box has sent an entire coordinated set. Every piece is fair trade and made with 18K gold overlay and Czech crystals.

I like this bangle. The metal band is easy to adjust so you can wear it loose like this:

Or bend it so that the crystals overlap.

Crimson Mimosa Earrings

These are pretty delicate, and I like how the metal leaf covers part of the bead when they are on.

Crimson Mimosa Necklace

Unlike the earrings, this pendant doesn’t hang perfectly when on:

Here is a close up of the pendant:

Verdict: I have mixed feelings on this box. I like the pieces they included, (and love that they are fair trade), but I’m wondering if it could be a complete miss for some subscribers if they don’t like the style this month? Usually the three pieces are different, so even if you don’t like one you still have two others that may work for you, but this box is more all or nothing!

  1. I cancelled when they shared the bracelet spoiler. The beads just reminded me too much of jewelry I had as a kid. It also seems like you can get the same boxes later for the same price as the monthly sub. They still had the June & July boxes for sale when I last checked, so I don’t feel as much like I have to stay in or I might miss out.

  2. I love this set – the crystals are very beautiful and perfect colors for fall. I also like that its gold plated so that the gold color doesn’t easily just come off or discolor. I have had problems with this in the past and really hate it. I had to throw out some of their “gold” pieces in the past because of the discoloration and the “gold” coming off.

With that said, one of the crystals came off the bracelet and I nearly lost the crystal. It wasn’t glued on right. For the past three months, I have had a problem with one piece and usually its because a gem wasn’t set or glued in properly.

The upside is that the customer service is excellent and they mailed me out a replacement piece immediately. The replacement pieces are usually fine. I just feel weird to have to do it each month. CS sent me an explanation and basically I have had some bad luck. I am hoping I have better luck in future boxes.

Overall, this was a win for me except for the mishap.

I really do love the bracelet. I can’t wait for the replacement piece.

  3. I disagree with the reviews here …. I thought the composition was FABULOUS!!! The heavily overdone “statement” pieces are going out now and need to be replaced with a new type of attention grabbing trend. I was hoping to see this box go less “blingy” and more creatively curated and modern. I loved the shape of all the pieces, LOVED that they coated in gold (after so many sub box chains turning grey after one wear), and the colors were perfect for Fall. Only slight criticism was that it would have been nice for the “crystals” to be made of glass vs plastic – unless I completely am off in guessing what material the red part was.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see this box continue to make a statement in a modern way with less of the glitzy overdone statement stone collars that we saw last year. Fun!

    • I completely agree! Modern delicate layers and natural stones are the current trend. According to the card the stones are Czechoslovakian crystals which aren’t glass or plastic. They are like Swarovski crystals. Hopefully, they will continue doing these type of pieces. I guess it all depends on the feedback they get.

    • I agree too! I really like this month’s curation! Bijoux Box is heading in the right direction in my opinion. Hoping for silver next month.

If you don’t want to wear everything at the same time, wear the bracelet one day, the earrings another, etc.

    • I too love the trend toward gold plating and more subtle pieces with better quality. I do not wear earrings so my sub boxes including this one usually send me an alternate bracelet or necklace which is always fun because most of the subscribers never see that piece at all! This box came with a cute blingy rhinestone bracelet — nice with jeans for an evening out but I ended up listing it on the swap board yesterday.

  4. This box is sadly a complete miss for me. This pieces just aren’t my taste. I also find the 18k gold overlay pieces too yellow for my skin tone and preference so I’m disappointed. This is the first time in over a year of subscribing that I haven’t liked any of the pieces and won’t get any wear out of them 🙁

  5. I really like the color of the beads, and like the way they shimmer. I usually don’t wear sets of jewelry, and can see how that could be a downer for those who don’t like the color or the style. I do like it, and wore the entire set yesterday.

    • Same here – I don’t do sets but these are so delicate I just layered a couple of other pieces on and got the same mix-match effect while the delicate BB pieces brought some continuity to the look. Just perfect to add one more gold necklace and one more mixed metal bracelet.

  6. I really liked this month, although I’ve now cancelled because I just don’t need any more jewelry. Alas, I have a large wrist and the end of the bracelet with the bead bent when I put it on – so the bead is flopping off the end and I’m afraid it will break at some point if I’m not careful.

(tl;dr – if you have a large wrist, be careful putting the bracelet on!)

  7. Interesting box – When I think of fair trade I think of more handmade beaded items, instead of metals. I always read the reviews in hopes I will like this box enough to subscribe, yet have not subbed. Now since yogi surprise jewelry box launched, every piece of jewelry in any other sub box I compare to that box. So far they have real stones, and the price is good.

  8. I loved it too! It’s pretty, delicate and well made. The color is very fall, as well. This box is is never boring.

  9. I didn’t like this month’s box. It was way too simple for me. Not my style at all. Totally disappointed.

  10. It drives me nuts that the necklace doesn’t hang correctly when it’s on. Didn’t they try it out? The earrings are a little funky too – the bead moves easily and gets crooked. Not good if you’re a perfectionist like me! 🙂 Really the only thing I loved in this box was the bangle. I do hope they go back to boxes with 3 different pieces in the future. I prefer the variety.

  11. I loved it! Very fall. Also, to a heavier woman like me, a bracelet that I can wear comfortably. It can be spread open so the beads don’t touch but it still looks great. I hope they remember that not all women have skinny, little wrists. I have missed wearing bracelets.

  12. I had the same thought about how it may be a miss for some people because it’s a set – probably good that they announced it was a matching set in the first spoiler! Fortunately, I love it, especially the leaf-berry combo just in time for Fall. Also love that I’m already layering it with other YBB pieces from previous boxes (the necklace is nice with the pave necklace from the Feb box, just for starters). Nice too, that while it’s not an exact match, it does coordinate with the ring from last month.

  13. I canceled my sub when I saw the first spoiler…I knew immediately it wasn’t going to be my thing this month. Not my style at all this month (complete opposite of last month which was exactly my style).
