Linen Crate is a new subscription box for home goods (mostly linens). Each box is themed to one room in your house for every one month.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

FYI - I originally reviewed their Bathroom box in July - since that review they've changed their offerings for the bathroom box, and sent me the updated version to review.

Also good to know about this subscription:

The Bathroom / Powder room box is the 1st box every new subscriber gets, then after she receives the box she will cycle to the next box based on his plan ( monthly, every 2nd month or every 3rd month) they will get the box for that specific month for featured room. The subscriber will cycle all rooms at least once if they maintain a year subscription, monthly plans will cycle all rooms twice a year.

The Subscription Box: Linen Crate

The Cost: $109 plus $4.99 shipping

The Products: Linen goods for your home based on your style/color profile. You can choose to get delivery every 1, 2, or 3 months.

Good to know: The first Box you will receive features your Bathroom/Powder Room. The Box will be a Bathroom Box where you will receive 6-9 Linens and Accessories curated for your bathroom based on your color/style preferences.

This box didn’t come with an info sheet detailing each item, but did have a crate value card.

FYI – My style profile for this subscription is Contemporary/Modern with light/neutral colors.

Back Scrubber, Loofa, and Bath Pouf - Value $10 total?

These are the one cross over item from the original Bathroom box. Always useful to have more!

Kassatex Mojave Toothbrush Holder - Value $20

Kassatex Mojave Soap Pump - Value $25

This is a big difference from the original box - they are now including accessories with the bathroom box.

I think the design of these fits my style profile pretty well too.

Kassatex Mojave Soap Dish - Value $15

linen-crate-bathroom-august-2015-curtain

Kassatex Grey White Chevron Shower Curtain - Value $35

I think this curtain is so much more modern than the shower curtain I received in the first box - a big improvement!

Bath Mat Towel - Value $10?

Kassatex Bath Rug 20 X 32 - Value $24.99

linen-crate-bathroom-august-2015-rug

Kassa Design Bath Rug 20 X 40 - Value $29.99

These rugs are both 100% Egyptian cotton, and really plush!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $170. (That includes my estimates for the non-branded items I couldn't look up). I think this is a big improvement over the previous bathroom box, and I'm curious to see what will be in the upcoming boxes. (And yay, no more toilet related rugs!)

I also wasn't familiar with the Kassatex brand before this box, but after browsing their site, I really like it. I hope that Linen Crate includes more from their line in future boxes.

What do you think of the updated Linen Crate bathroom box?

Liz – Are you still reviewing this box? Did you receive the leaf platter? It reminds me think of fall.

I received my dining room box. It has beautiful red festive plates, neutral placemats, and a leaf platter. Feel free to click on my name to see pictures.

Anna, I read your review. Nicely done!
I loved my bathroom box, but I’m on the every three month option for financial reasons. I hope my box is entirely different from yours. I don’t like the dry clean only placemats. I actually don’t like placemats at all. I prefer a tablecloth only. Is that weird?
I don’t like that the plates aren’t microwave safe. That’s not something I currently worry about. I’m afraid I would forget with these. Even though red isn’t in my color scheme, I do think the plates are pretty. I’m nervous to see if they’ll continue to interpret my style correctly. I really do love what they sent for my bathroom. I’d like to keep this one, especially with moving into a new house.

I don’t know where my LootCrate comment disappeared to, but I responded that my son’s shirt is a small. Thank you for reading!

My sister received a 4 dinner plates, 4 salad or appetizer plates, a table runner and the leaf platter. They seem responsive to feedback. Enjoy your box in a couple of months!

I prefer a tablecloth over placemats, but they will be used. My little guy back in the day used to knock placemats on the floor all the time. Now he is older so it is not as much of an issue.

I got my bathroom box today. Overall, I really liked everything! The hand towels are huge! I chose eclectic as my favorite style and included a Pinterest link, so I was really interested to see what I would get. The two towels and two hand towels are the same color, but the two rugs are a different color than the towels. They match my style and shades I pinned and this is my favorite part of the box!

The soap dish, lotion dispenser, and toothbrush holder set are a different shade than the two above, but still match. I don’t think I’ll use the lotion dispenser, but it’s still nice. I got a loofah set like Liz. I feel “meh” about those, but they’ll probably get used and they match the color scheme of the rest of it.

I think Linen Crate did an amazing job of listening to what I was looking for as far as style. I can’t wait to see what’s in the next box, but because of price point I’m going to have to wait a while. I signed up for the every 3 month option. As a quarterly box, I will stay a subscriber as long as the rest are at least as good as this first box.

The only thing that is a major beef for me about the box is there is no price breakdown. It really bothers me when I can’t see the value of the box in terms if individual items. I experienced this recently with Relish Clothing. I don’t know why any company would choose not to include a visual retail value analysis.

I forgot about the shower curtain. It’s a really nice quality and a pattern I like. It’s the only item that is a bit of a stretch to fit in to the color scheme of the rest of it. Luckily, I have two bathrooms!

I was wrong. The shower curtain looks great with the rest of the box! I just wanted to update that. 🙂

Where are my comments???? My sister liked her box!

Not sure why your past two comments didn’t automatically get approved. Sorry about that! They should be visible now.

My sister ordered the bathroom box after I told her about the changes. She received the same brands as what is in Liz’s current review. She’s very happy with it and enjoys teasing me about it 🙂

I forgot what her choices were. I can look them up if anyone is interested. She received hot pink towels and a blue aztec shower curtain. Definitely fits my sister. Receiving the hot pink towels made her day!

I forgot the most important part! Too much back to school stuff going on today 🙁 My sister ordered the bathroom box at the end of July. She received the discount pricing and the better quality items. She’s happy with her box.

I was a bit disappointed with my box. I didn’t receive any accessories, basically just two bath towels (not a set, just two bath towels), shower curtain, bathmat and two rugs.

While I adored the rugs and really liked everything else, I felt as if it was lacking the whole room feel. It basically felt like a box geared towards the shower. I got my first box for half price, so I’m pretty thrilled, though I would not have felt the same had I paid full price.

Overall, I really like the idea of this box and look forward to see how the next few months turn out.

The coupon didn’t work for me 🙁

i would’ve said good box with the original price tag but at 109 plus shipping, it’s a no go for me. That actually makes your savings about $50 NOT $90 like the card says in your box. What’s up with that?

Reply ButtonReply

Rowsdower

I noticed those numbers too HappyWife. Even at the $27 discount ($163 – $87.xx = $85 savings), it doesn’t hit $93. A cost breakdown on their part would be nicer. I still bit when I saw the eclectic style offered. Fingers crossed!

I went to check out the other options. I think what you received is nice, but not my style at all. After doing the quiz just for fun, I was excited that they offer eclectic options, with the $27 off, I caved. I have no willpower.

I got two hand towels, two bath towels, two identical bath rugs (which is great for me because one can go in front of the shower and one can go in front of the toilet), a shower curtain, and the three scrubbies. I am actually really happy with the box and I look forward to what the other rooms will be like.

I think this looks MUCH better overall. I am happy to see they are addressing the comments from the first review.

If I were designing this box, I would now:
+ add a set of 2 washcloths, 2 hand towels, and 2 bath towels
– remove 2 of the 3 rugs (to make up some of the cost difference)
* ask whether the subscriber prefers a soap dish OR soap dispenser up front and then only send them the one they choose (Do most people typically use both? I know I only use one.) (This money could go towards the towel set too.)

This is definitely heading in the correct direction. I am interested to see what they do with the next room.

Agree with everyone else-this is a huge improvement. I think this is an interesting concept for a box, but I would think many people would rather do their own shopping, even if it means spending a bit more. On the other hand, this could be a great wedding gift or graduation gift for someone just getting started with limited funds to furnish a home.

Wow much better than the first one! But I still don’t know if I see the value in it.

Katie

Rather disappointing for those of us who got the original bathroom box and were less than pleased.

chris

The June box was listed as: $75 plus $9.99 shipping
This box is listed as: $109 plus $4.99 shipping

That may account for some differences as well.

Katie

The old rate was grandfathered in for all subscriptions, so unless they plan on giving lower value boxes to those people from here on out, still unfair. A similar box to this review was sent to another blogger for a complimentary review about the same time my box was shipped to me. I’m still calling foul on this one.

I’m with you on that comment!

Although I don’t need this kind of box, this version looks MUCH more appealing than the last. Good job, Linen Crate!
