Allure Beauty Box Subscription Box Review – August 2015 BB

Malin + Goetz Peppermint Shampoo - 1 oz Value $2.50

(Good to know for swaps - this has a foil seal inside). This isn't the most exciting sample, but I love the fresh peppermint scent, and I like the Malin + Goetz brand too!

Bumble and Bumble Grooming Cream - .5 oz Value $3.50

This cream is designed to be used on damp hair - and I'd recommend using just a little bit at a time. (It is on the heavier side). I also was surprised by the scent - it's something I would expect from a hair product in Birchbox Man!

Allure Beauty Box Subscription Box Review – August 2015 Gel

Eau Thermale Avene Cleanance Gel Cleanser - 50 ml Value $5

This cleanser is designed especially for oily and acne-prone skin. It is non-foaming, and I like the scent. I also found it to be gentle - just as described!

Salma Hayek Nuance Anti-Aging Cream - .265 oz Value $3.80

(This cream is paraben free and not tested on animals). I was worried when I saw it is scented with fragrance, but I found the scent to be subtle and pleasant. And the formula absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft. So, I like this cream more than I was expecting!

Allure Beauty Box Subscription Box Review – August 2015 Butter

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Push-Up Liner – .003 oz Value $3.60

I did a detailed review of this liner on the recent Birchbox CEW review (with swatch pictures) if you are interested! I'm happy to have more of this liner considering I think the sample is only good for one or two wearings.

Allure & butter London Nail Lacquer in Violet's Revenge - 6 ml Value $7.50

(Subscribers will either receive this color, or a light pink The Sweet Spot). If you love nail polish minis like I do, you may be interested in this 4-piece mini set!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $26. The product sizes seem good to me, but the value feels a little low for a $15 beauty box. I think I'll use everything in the box, though, so I guess it is still a decent value for me.

did anyone get billed last week for September or have a double billing issue. Customer service said they can’t say when the payment will be deducted. I am very used to companies with billing cycles and dates so “bye girl” I will miss you. After a back and forth commentary, they refunded my money so we are through…LOL. so will try someone else for a minute, maybe popsugar.

I’ve been thinking of signing up for this sub and was wondering how small the sizes of product are. Are they as small as Birchbox size or larger?

kerri

Depends. Some months the samples are smaller than Birchbox other months they are deluxe or full size.

Sad I didn’t get this box! I imagine this is how the Sephora box is gonna look. Lots of well known brands & decent sample sizes.

This was my second box. I thought last month’s was meh and this box was really disappointing. I canceled immediately.

How did you cancel? I am not seeing how to do it from my account on line?

Wish I’d gotten the pink polish since I already got the purple in full size from the beauty thrills box.

I was hoping for the pink for the same reason. I was pretty discouraged with my box today. I just think I am on product overload so time to say good bye to some boxes. This will be the first one to go.

I got the pink, and I won’t use it because that color does not look good with my dark skin tone, if you want to trade I totally would..

My sister just claimed it. I’m sure they’ll be some up for swap soon.

I loved this box. I got the pink nail polish and love it. The eyeliner is the perfect size to throw in my gym bag and I already know I love it from the Birchbox CEW box. I love the night cream. It is very rich and moisturizing but not at all heavy or greasy. I love the cleanser. I don’t have oily or acne prone skin but I love how clean it gets my skin. The Bumble and Bumble will get used and I love this brand so no complaints there. I love the shampoo. It smells great and feels super cooling and refreshing at the end of a hot Summer day. I just wish they had included the conditioner. I love Allure and this sub has been one of my favorites since it was just Sample Society.

This was my first box from them, so far not impressed. I immediately gave away the night cream (I already use one by Korres that I love) and swapped the nail polish. I may swap the hair cream too. The cleanser is ok, the liner is tiny, and I think the shampoo may be too harsh so I gave it to my son. So there is only one product I actually got out of the whole box. Womp, womp!

:)

I was surprised with how much I like this box. Happy to have received the pink polish instead of the purple (I work in an investment bank- cant be running around with crazy purple nails). I applied the polish on Saturday and it’s held up pretty well– no chips or cracks at all! I am always happy to get shampoo, and although I am overloaded with hair products, the infocard made the bumble and bumble look so wonderful that I kept it– it’s hot, humid and rainy out today and I smoothed a bit through my wet ponytail this morning. I have oil/acne-prone skin, so happy about the cleanser. Only thing I’m on the fence about is the nightcream.

And the eyeliner.. excited to try. I’m one of those people that get excited about a boring black liner!

Liz why do my comments get deleted on every thread? I’m not spamming or posting links. I’ve explained that my sisters and I share a computer so that’s why there’s a couple different emails with this IP adress.

Hi Kerri,

Sorry nothing has been deleted! Sometimes comments have to get approved by admin first though – I’m guessing some of the spam detecting plug ins we use may see the IP address as a potential spam comment? Not sure – I’ll look into it!

Thanks for the quick reply! !

Danielle

I cancelled after this box. I like the gel cleanser a lot, but that’s about it. I was excited to get the eyeliner, but the sample is so tiny. I also was happy about the Butter London, but I’m not crazy about the dusty pink shade I received.

I couldn’t use the shampoo because I’m allergic to mint, the Grooming Creme isn’t right for my hair type, and anti-aging creams tend to break me out.

It’s a shame, because I was hoping this subscription would work out – but I’m just not getting my money’s worth.

Would you be interested in selling your box then? Everything you didn’t like I’d love to have.
