Comic Con Box Subscription Box Review - June 2015 - info

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included. (Not every item is listed, so there may be some variation in this box).

Comic Con Box Subscription Box Review - June 2015 - shirt

A Dozen Doctors Tee - Value $10?

This month's exclusive t-shirt is and homage to Doctor Who. It includes the 12 doctors as eggs in a Tardis egg crate. It's thin material t-shirt - and it's a District brand T-shirt for sizing reference - typically I've seen mostly Gildan.

Comic Con Box Subscription Box Review - June 2015 - poster

Vader of the Lost Ark Poster - Value $8-10?

This exclusive 8x10 print depicts the classic opening scene where we first meet Indiana Jones - and as I write this I'm taking a mental note to re-watch all three movies. And of course, the Varder part of the print has his helmet replacing the golden idol. I like that the print is on very solid hard stock paper, and it's glossy!

Comic Con Box Subscription Box Review - June 2015 - adventure-time

Adventure Time Cinnamon Bun Plush - Value $15.53 on Amazon

First thing to note is that this is actually a dog chew toy (which all plush items become in my house anyways). I was so excited to see something from Adventure Time included. And even more excited to see that it wasn't Finn or Jake! It looks like you could receive Cinnamon Bun, Gunter, or Peppermint Butler - what did you receive?

Free Regular Modern Submission during any 2015 Wizard World Comic Con Event - Value ?

For the life of me I can't find what a Free Regular Modern Submission actual gets you. But, if you're planning on going to a Wizard World Comic Con you probably already know!

Comic Con Box Subscription Box Review - June 2015 - antman

Marvel Ant-Man Comic #1 - Value $3-4

We received Ant-Man #5 in June's Collector Corps, and I haven't read it yet because it's going to throw me into the middle of the run - so I'm excited to get #1 so I can see if it's something I want to continue. This is also an exclusive variant cover - which is becoming very commonplace in geek boxes.

Jurassic Strike Force 5 One-Shot Terror and Tacos - Value ?

This is a short comic. It's marked as exclusive - I'm not sure whether it's the cover or the whole one-shot that is exclusive. I gave it a read, not really up my alley.

Comic Con Box Subscription Box Review - June 2015 - dvd

Antboy DVD - Value $9 on Amazon

I had never heard of this movie, so I had to do some research. This is a 2014 Danish film that is kind of a Spider-man parody. The boy gets bit by an ant, and receives super heroes powers - sound familiar? If you're interested in taking a peek, here's the trailer.

Well, now I can't stop thinking about Zoolander. Sorry, I have to do it. Sorry, not sorry.

Zoolander - center for ants

TOMY Zelda Mascot Danglers - Value $5.37 on Amazon

Inside you receive 1 of 6 characters. I received Princess Zelda. The little figures have a small lanyard attached for handing them from a zipper.

Comic Con Box Subscription Box Review - June 2015 - hangers

NECA Scalers 2-Pack SDCC 2104 Exclusive - Value $16

I got the value from eBay postings of this 2-pack since it's an exclusive. I like the little NECA scalers, and I've even swapped for them in the past, so I love this Comic Con exclusive Iron Man and Spider-Man set!

Chomping Dinosaur - Value $4

I could only find this on eBay - so that's where I pulled the value from. This is basically a dollar store t-rex toy.

VERDICT: The value comes in over the cost of the box - but some of the items seem like after thought toss-ins. Maybe Adventure is just too broad of a theme, because the items do feel a bit random as opposed to fitting into the theme. I'm a fan of the NECA scalers, and the dog has already taken Cinnamon Bun, but the other items will be swaps for me.

What did you think of the third Comic Con Box?

I just received a charge for my first month’s box, but it was $39.50, not $36.99. I wonder if the price already went up? I just sent them an email. If it’s not a mistake, it seems like an awfully high cost for shipping. I hope August’s box at least contains a lot of goodies for that price!

That Ant Man comic is not #1, it is a one shot issue of his first appearances then a small story.

Very disappointed this month. They teased Jurrasic World and Zelda and you get a rinky dink Zelda item and a dollar store dinosaur. Wack! Sticking around one more month, though.

I am not a subscriber of this box. I would had been disappointed because July is Comic Con San Diego. I would want something more outstanding. The Ant Man DVD might interest me for my little guy. Has anyone watch it? It’s my understanding it is a Danish film dubbed in English.

The chomping dinosaurs are from the dollar store. I bought them as party favors last year! I don’t get why they are in the box.

I am so glad I didn’t end up buying this box.

I believe the Wizard World ticket is for a free grading of a regular, modern comic at one of their events.

That makes total sense after seeing the graded comic on the coupon. Thanks!

Yep – in fact, that’s probably one of the most valuable bits in the box. A CGC Regular Modern Comic Submission usually takes around 3-4 months to complete and be mailed back to you, but even after ignoring the shipping costs, a “Modern Regular Submission” still runs $18 each.
