Subscribers will start to get emails to make their choice on the 27th. Full Details:

Does anyone know if it’s too late in the month to get the curated box with a new subscription? Or if I can choose the curated box for my first box if I subscribe to a second BB?

I picked the dry shampoo for my sample choice. Believe it or not I’ve been subscribed to ipsy over a year and almost a year for birchbox and have yet to receive a dry shampoo sample! Crazy, but I probably won’t get it anyhow as the 1st of the month is always a dry spell time for my checking account so I usually end up with a total surprise. I did however buy the Nicole Richie curated box with my bonus points so I’m excited for that! Im just hoping I don’t get the red polish cause I’m not a big fan of that color on my nails, other than that I’ll be a happy camper!!

I was so paranoid after missing out on last months curated box due to “glitch” that I wanted, so I message Birchbox thru a chat on their website and made my selection for the curated box. So excited! I would’ve been totally bummed had missed this one too. Birchbox really has some great customer service!

I waited too long, and the add-on mask sampler is out of stock. 🙁

Hi! If you search Mask Maddness, the set is still available on its own in the Birchbox shop. Just order it separate from there (its available at the same price)! 🙂

I’m confused. You said we’ll get it the 27th (today) if we’re an ace or the 28th if we aren’t.. Birchbox’s official page says the 28th if ace, 29th if not?

Elizabeth

I agree, I finally got aces status this month and thought for sure the early birds got the email on the 27th?

Elise

I just talked with someone at BB, early access starts tomorrow not today.

The curated was awesome enough for me that I had to resubscribe, but not sure if which box I’ll get July or August. July looked good too so I wouldn’t mind 🙂

Ahhh! I’m so excited for August! Definitely getting the dry shampoo on my 1st account and the guest-editor box on my 2nd account.

I have been dying to try that new in-shower tan!! I’m going to be getting into fake tanning soon, and I’d like something easy to keep my tan looking good through the week. Having to wait in the shower with it on isn’t a big deal for me because I regularly use FRANK.

Has anyone else tried using regular self tanner over (red) stretch marks? Does it conceal them a bit? Should I smear extra product over the marks with a q-tip or something? I have deluxe samples of the Tarte tanner and the St. Tropez mouse to try out. If they work out, definitely gonna buy some fake tan from the Birchbox shop.

Hi Liz, I love your reviews! I started watching you about 5 months ago, and now I’m subscribed to about 15 different boxes. I think. I have an addiction, lol! Have you done you reviews for the July birchbox and ipsy yet? Thank you for your site, I love being able to see what is in past subscription boxes before I make a decision. Thanks again!!

Thanks so much! I should have the review for the July Ipsy bag up today. And here is the July Birchbox review: https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2015/07/birchbox-beachy-bright-box.html

I like a bunch of the samples, but the curated box is just so pretty!!

I am a bit bummed out though because I still haven’t received my July box! Is there anyone else that is still waiting or should I contact bb to see whats up?

Reply ButtonReply

Emma

I also never received my July Birchbox, even though it said it was delivered, so I contacted BB a few days ago and they were really nice about it. They said they couldn’t resend the July box but were going to give me the August box for free. I would contact them!

Curated it is! I won’t use the tanner but 4/5 isn’t bad. None of the sample choice are that exciting.

Ak! The only thing I really like is the pretty box from the curated box. A lot of the products don’t work for me due to ingredients. What will people be most likely to want to swap for?

Cool, this makes up for last month for me when I really didn’t love getting a bright lipstick. I love the collab with Nicole Richie, and that box is gorgeous. Weren’t the curated boxes from the last month or two available as a separate $10 purchase? If so I might also have to buy one because the sample choices all look good to me too!

I have a comment about the Coola SPF setting spray. This is a chemical SPF. Chemical SPF (unlike physical SPF) needs to be applied directly to the skin in order to work. Therefore, I am wary of these new SPF setting sprays. I’ve seen one, the Goldfaden “Sun Visor,” that’s a physical SPF; otherwise, the one’s I’ve seen and heard of are chemical, and I doubt their efficacy. It seems like if you put a SPF over makeup, but it needs to combine directly with skin to work, that it won’t work (as an SPF; it might work as a setting spray). Does anybody know otherwise? I’m not a dermatologist and am willing to be wrong.

Angela

Chemical sunscreens don’t have to be applied directly to the skin to work – the chemical mechanism works whether the molecules are right on top of your skin or separated by a layer of makeup. Consumers are told to apply directly to skin and wait ~20 minutes because that allows the sunscreen to set in even layer of protection that’s less likely to get rubbed/sweated off and because that’s the only way to ensure you’re really getting the SPF as rated. So as a bonus bit of extra sun protection in your setting spray, chemical sunscreens do still work, but I wouldn’t count on getting the stated SPF from a setting spray even if you used enough product.
(Not a dermatologist, but a med student who taught a sun safety course for middle schoolers, for what it’s worth.)

It’s worth a lot. Thank you for the information 🙂

doclauren

i just want to point out that that Sun Visor product also has oxybenzone in it, which is also a chemical SPF (and terrible for you!), which I was so disappointed about when I got the Kloverbox/MSA box ug

The pink sunglasses from last months add on are my new favorite pair. Nothing looks good this month so no add ons for me. All the sample choices look fine. I’ll let Birchbox surprise me. I got the curated last month specifically for the Bella hot pink lipstick and it’s my new favorite.

The Coola was in my July box. I absolutely love it! I may lose out on points but I’m definitely choosing it again.

Looks like I’ll try for the curated box! Hopefully it’s still a choice when I get my email!

I’m going to chose the dry shampoo is the hope that this will mean they won’t send me any other hair items. I DON’T want any more hair oils, hair texturizers, hair creams, hair anything. Dry shampoo, however, I’ll use.

I am SO Pumped for these offers! I almost bough the Coola Spray the other day- it would be nice to sample it first- I think its like $50. I also always love dry shampoo. The curated box looks awesome! I am SO glad I signed up for another account with that Tati $1 box- kept the account going. Last month was the first time I liked to curated box so it was nice to get the curated box and still pick a sample. Getting the curated and a sample choice this month- YAY!

I wondered if any of the plus items were worth it and so I did a little looking around- anyone else looking at the speaker http://www.nativeunion.com/us/monocle.html/#125 – The site is selling the seemingly same speaker for $20 (less than the BB offer) which makes me happy to overlook this plus buys as they are no great deal.

I really want the coola choice but I also really want the curated box. I might have to sign up for a second box just for next month.

Reply ButtonReply

roxxie

i really like the charcoal nail polish so i probably won’t get it lol…but i also like the coola has anyone tried it????

Reply ButtonReply

Are you able to use points or anything towards the add ons or do you have to pay full price? That towel is really cute but expensive.

Reply ButtonReply

PnJ0617

Hi, you can’t use points for add ons, they will charge you at the same time they charge for your monthly sub. You do earn points for a purchase of an add on. Hope that helps.

mimiretz

Definitely the curated box this month. I added the bracelet and necklace already — I’m on a jewelry kick lately.

Reply ButtonReply

Barbara

WOW, the curated box looks amazing !! already made my choice ! Hopefully, I can get it !

Reply ButtonReply

Christina

Meh..not feeling any of them.

What choice do you guys think will be most swappable?

Reply ButtonReply

Mary Beth

I might try to swap for one or two of the Venice OPIs: the rose gold and/or the beige.
