I'm very excited to announce that the first MSA app is live in the apple store!ย You can download it here.
Before I get into explaining the app features, I want to quickly give an explanation on why this is the first app, and what our plans are for future apps.
We started the process by first identifying all the main components of the site we could potentially include in the app: the blog, the directory, the swaps section, and the forum section. We then looked at all the technology already involved with each section and came to a quick conclusion - swaps is a beast and worthy of its own app!
So, the first app is dedicated to subscription box reviews, discussion, coupons, etc. (We'll be building a second app dedicated just to swaps in the future).
And the next big question we had to answer was: Do we build for iOS or Android first?
The reason we had to answer this question is thatย we're only two people (me and my husband Eric), so we could only do one at a time. Looking at Google Analytics, we identified that more people visited MSA from apple phones than android phones, so that's why we decided to do an iOS app first. (An android app is on our list!)
Hopefully, that gives some useful background on the app building process. (This is our first app ever - so it's been quite the learning experience!)
Now onto the app features:
The app opens on the recent posts view, showing you the latest posts from the blog. On the bottom of this view you can quickly filter the view into reviews, news (new subscriptions boxes, limited edition boxes, etc.), deals, and spoilers.
And clicking on the menu icon on the top left corner reveals all the sections of the app:
Let me know if you have any questions/suggestions for the app. And of course if you download it and review it that would be amazing! Thank you as always for your support and feedback on how to improve MSA!
