Ben Greenfield Quarterly Subscription Box Review #BGQ01 Box

Ben Greenfield is one of the latest Quarterly curators, and while I'm not sure I'm the target audience for this box, I thought it would be good to review his first box, so you can see if it is a good fit for you!

Here's a little more about Ben Greenfield from Quarterly:

Ben Greenfield is obsessed with making your body and mind better. His boxes will contain his latest discoveries in the realm of performance, fat loss, recovery, digestion, brain, sleep and hormone optimization.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Ben Greenfield Quarterly Subscription Box Review #BGQ01 Letter

Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator detailing the items selected. (I think this is the longest Quarterly box letter I've ever seen!)

Ben Greenfield Quarterly Subscription Box Review #BGQ01 Matcha

Kiss Me Organics Matcha - Value $25

Four Sigma Foods Chaga Tea Superfood Mushroom Drink Mix - Value $24

I'm still drinking my Matcha tea from the Kevin Rose Quarterly box, so I'll save this one for backup! Ben recommends using the Chaga tea (which is powdered mushrooms - not tea leaves) for anytime you need a boost in immunity, you're under lots of stress, or when you have rampant inflammation.

Ben Greenfield Quarterly Subscription Box Review #BGQ01 HIIT Game

HIIT The Game by Strength Stack 52 - Value $30

This card "game" is a no-equipment-needed high-intensity interval training tool. Here is everything you get with each card:

Ben Greenfield Quarterly Subscription Box Review #BGQ01 Exos

EXOS Curcumin Restore - Value $51.50

Here is a quick product summary from Ben Greenfield's site about EXOS:

A small amount of muscle soreness, aches, and pains is to be expected when you train hard, but if it gets out of hand, it can put a damper on your performance and affect your sleep and mood. That’s why we added Curcumin phytosome (soreness and injuries), from the EXOS Restore product line, to our recommended recovery supplements.

Just like with Dave Asprey Quarterly box reviews, these statements haven't been evaluated by the FDA - just an FYI!

Aztec Sea Salt - Value $24

Here is the background on the Aztec Sea Salt company:

Our families were traveling South of the border for a surf trip. The kids needed a snack and the adults needed a break so we stopped at a little stand on the side of the road. We picked up a bag of locally harvested natural sea salt as we have habit of tasting the local specialties. Later, cooking dinner back at our place, we were blown away by the extraordinary flavor and lovely texture. I know salt is just sodium chloride but this salt tasted better than the iodized table salt I was using at home. It tasted outstanding.

Our Salt Is Good For You.

When we returned to reality and our daily grind, we did a little research on iodized table salt and natural sea salt. It turns out that iodized table salt has all the good stuff removed and bad stuff added. Eighty plus minerals essential to your body’s needs, gone, sold to manufacturing and are replaced with Iodine, anti-caking agents and sometimes fluoride which added “for our health”. Our families immediately made the switch to natural sea salt. But, we could never duplicate the flavor and texture we found in our road-side surf salt.

This is an item I wouldn't have come across on my own, (or would have shelled $24 out for without trying it first), so I'm excited to try it.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $155. That's pretty good for a $100 Quarterly box - better than what I was expecting actually! I think this box will be well-received by Ben Greenfield fans - the value is good, and the lengthy/informative letter shows the passion Ben has for the items in the box.

I love this box! I’ve been debating on wether to sign up for this box or not and I think this box is perfect for me.

I loved everything about this box, even the mushroom tea. I hate mushroom, so I said “This can’t possibly be good.” I was feeling sick last Monday, so I thought “I can’t taste anything, time to drink drink the Chaga.” Within 30 minutes, I was jumping around like I hadn’t been sick all day. I’m glad Ben included the Matcha tea. I haven’t opened it yet because I’m still finishing some Breakaway.

The HIIT game was my favorite part. It’s a fun way to workout at the house. No more using the same monotonous routines. I will keep subscribing to this box.

Ragan

Culinary grade matcha like that is better for baking or smoothies than it is to drink. (I’ve tried that exact one because someone sent it to me to review on Amazon.)

I will watch this box because it seems a little more in line with my interests than some of the other fitness boxes with supplements in them. I like that the supplement doesn’t have gelatin capsules.
