Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Box

Wantable Accessories
4.2 overall rating
44 Ratings | 14 Reviews

Wantable Accessories is one of the three Wantable subscription options. Each month they typically send you three items in categories like jewelry, scarves, sunglasses, etc. You can heavily customize this box by picking out which categories of items you want, and what styles and materials you prefer. (Lately I’ve been requesting only scarves and hair accessories – but I recently opened up to watches and necklaces too.)

Wantable sent me this box to review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – April 2015 INvoice

Here is the invoice of my order with retail prices. Since Wantable now accepts returns on single items, they also give “Your Price” next to the retail price. (That’s how much you would be refunded if you returned that piece). If you keep everything, you get a $4 credit for your next box.

And here are the categories I picked out. You must pick at least two categories for your likes or loves. You will never get any items on your dislike list.

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Scarf

Ariel Scarf - Retail Price $22 (My Price $12.05)

I like the muted colors of this scarf. I wasn't sure if the metallic gold stripes would work, but they are very subtle, and I like this a lot for spring!

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Headband

Violet Love Headband - Retail $17 (My Price $9.32)

I've received a Violet Love headband before a while ago from this subscription and I'm a fan - it's super stretchy and soft, and perfect for when I need to keep my hair out of my face for working out or trying out beauty masks!

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Pendant

Jillian Necklace - Retail Value $16 (My price $8.77)

I like the gold chain tassel on this necklace and it's a somewhat subtle pendant - my kind of style! Here is a closer look:

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Blue

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – April 2015 Necklace

Ava Necklace - Retail Value $18 (My Price $9.86)

More gold chain fringe! This is a little more bolder of a pendant necklace:

I may end up adding this to my mom's Mother's Day gift pile - she loves tortoise shell!

Verdict: I liked all the pieces in my Accessories Box this month, and I also appreciate that you can now return any single items - it eliminates the risk of trying this subscription.

May was my third month of Wantable Accessories and my best box so far! I sent 3/4 items back from my first box and re-evaluated my profile. For example, I love scarves but really only infinity scarves, so I moved it to dislike. I like fun sunglasses but I know how particular I am with the shape… so I moved those to the dislike list as well. So on and so forth. And between that first box and carefully watching Liz’s reviews, I felt like I kinda knew what to expect with the items I was iffy with. And now I love love love every single item I have received since then! In my May box, I got a fun structured silver bracelet, two long necklaces – one classy and one more boho chic, and a pair of super cute stud earrings. So much better than the Nina Garcia box I wasted a $100 on!

I just canceled this subscription. My first month, I got a great scarf, nice sunglasses, and two necklaces. Both necklaces were loud, but I decided to keep them and try to step outside my comfort zone. My second month, I received an ring that looked cheap and three super loud necklaces (one of which was broken). I sent all three back. I think its a great service for cheap trendy pieces, just not for me. I’m now picking out my own occasional piece of costume jewelry on BaubleBar.

Hoping someone can answer a couple of questions for me. I can’t find a FAQ page for Wantable. How easy is this sub to cancel and does anyone know the billing and shipping dates for regular subscriptions. Thanks. I’d appreciate any help.

Customer service is great! They have a number listed and can easily be called with any questions and they also answer email a lot quicker then most boxes.

It is VERY easy to cancel. You just go into your account and cancel it there. If you’re going to be getting it more than once I’d recommending putting it on “hold” though so you don’t lose your $4 credit if you keep an entire box. Everytime you cancel and resubscribe you’ll have to pay full price. The billing and ship dates depend on when you sign up. It’s not like a traditional box that only ship on a certain day. When you sign up you are charged shortly after and usually receive your first box in about a week. Then, unless you cancel or hold, you receive it on that same day each month. I hope that helps. 🙂

Holly, thank you. You answered all my questions and explained very well. I appreciate it.

I think I’m going to quit.

I have that I love silver (& dislike gold or multi tone), so they do send only “silver” jewelry…. but it isn’t real silver or even silver plate. It’s sort of dark and pewter-y looking…. very trashy looking imo. I must have 10 pieces I never wear because I so dislike that tarnished look they have going on.

Also I have enough scarves now!

This is, by far, my favorite box! I agree it’s priced a little on the high end. But, I have not been disappointed with a single item! I have never returned an item, tho. I’m curious what the process is, also.

I get silver myself and have really loved everything I’ve gotten since I subscribed a few months ago. My May box just came and it was really awesome!

I can’t really tell if I would like this box b/c Liz’s 2 “Loves” (scarves & gold tones) would both be on my “Dislike” list and several of of her dislikes would be on my love or like list! 🙂

It seems like most reviewers of most jewelry subs prefer gold or even multi-tone, but I’m a silver person. I’ll keep looking!

I do silver and multi-tone, and I’ve gotten many cute silver items! I wouldn’t avoid it just on that basis. I also dislike scarves, and mostly like earrings and necklaces. Sometimes sunglasses and watches. I have always liked the watches. Sunglasses are more hit or miss.

Tacie

I’ve filled out their profile. You can choose silver only. Just dislike gold and multi tone. Their site says they’ll never send you what you don’t like. Hope that helps! 🙂

After they sent me three peach-colored scarves in two months, and then I saw the exact same scarf I received on Ebay for $1.25… I did some sleuthing. The watches? Also very inexpensive. The same one I received? Less than $4.00. I quit lickety-split!

nooo!! Is that for real?! I have had this sub for a few months now, and received some adorable scarves, watches and necklaces. Usually I feel that the value is there and that for most the items I would pay $10 each of them. I’ve been very lucky with stylists and always received items I use almost daily… But I would be so sad to find out that these items are a few bucks on any other website. I’ll have to do some researching and cancel if I find the same thing. Thanks for the heads up. Like I said though, I have felt pleasantly happy with their accessories box. I don’t see the value in their make-up box, and the intimates were a super miss with me.. So now I’ll have to really reconsider this sub. Siiiiiiigh.

Liz,
I really have been wanting to try this box, but I’m unclear on returns. Maybe you could clear it up for me if you’ve ever returned anything. If you were to send back, say, the tortoise shell necklace for $9.86 what does that look like? Immediately, your next box is $40 (not $36) because you didn’t keep all items, correct? Do they provide a return label in the box or do you print one?
Lastly, the refund. Their website states a credit toward current box (but you’ve already paid, so is it off NEXT month’s box?) before crediting your payment method. I’m sorry if this is crystal clear to everyone else. I just want to be sure. 🙂

I just returned an item in my last accessories box. The return process is very easily done from the site. It might take a couple days for their system to show that you have received your box, but once it shows up, the option to return items will be there. They will email a postage-paid label which you can print for the return. Once they receive the item, they will credit your credit card account with the “your price” amount. And you are correct, the following month’s box will be the full $40.00.

Oh nice box! I was wondering if anyone knows when the 50% off coupon comes around? I know it was at the beginning of the month a couple months ago on Facebook.

Tacie

Oh, please let me know too (I don’t do FaceBook). I’ve been on the fence about this box for a while. Did anyone figure out what happens if you were to return an item? Is it credit, not a monetary refund? How do you use the credit? Toward a box or is there a shop? If I fully understood their new system, I’d probably take the plunge.

Not sure if there will be this month, but I did receive the 30% off email in celebration of Cinco De Mayo! Decided that was good enough.
