Le Matchbox is a brand new subscription box from Jouer Cosmetics. I've sampled Jouer thanks to Birchbox, and I've been very impressed with their makeup products, so I signed up for this box immediately!
UPDATE: This subscription is currently out of stock.
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Subscription Box: Le Matchbox
The Cost: $45 a quarter
The Products: “Each selection is determined by responses to our quiz, providing you with an assortment of full size Jouer essentials most flattering for your coloring and suitable for your skin type.
Each curated box is accompanied with a mini magazine providing product details and application tips. Jouer delivers the most advanced skincare benefits, effortlessly luxurious colors, in smart on-the-go packaging.”
Keep track of your subscriptions: Add this box to your have list or wish list.
FYI – before you sign up for the subscription, make sure to create an account on their site. (When you are actually purchasing the Matchbox subscription, there is no field to enter your email address, but I created an account and made sure I was signed in when I bought a subscription, and I did receive an email order confirmation).
When you first sign up for this box you take a quiz to determine if your skin is warm or cool toned, and that will dictate which makeup shades you receive. (My box is cool tone).
The box comes with an info booklet that details all the items you may receive. (For example, on the lip page on the left, they let you know you'll receive either the lipstick or the lipgloss in your box).
Jouer Daily Repair Treatment Oil - FULL SIZE! Value $48
When the first item is worth more than you paid for the entire box, you know it is going to be a good box!
This daily repair treatment oil is paraben and fragrance free, and made to be used in place or in addition to your moisturizer. It also is supposed to mimic the positive effects of Retinol without the possible harsh side effects. I like the formula - it absorbs somewhat quickly, and leaves a slight sheen to your skin.
(From the info booklet: subscribers will either receive this oil, or the Daily Clarifying Treatment Oil).
Jouer Powder Blush in Peony - FULL SIZE! Value $26
This blush is highly pigmented, and just looking at the color in the pan I never would have bought this for myself - but it actually works great for my skin tone! (I'm now starting to think we need more warm/cool skin tone customized makeup subscription boxes). I only need a very little amount of the blush to get the right amount of color, so this blush will last a long time.
Jouer Hydrating Lipstick in Whitney - FULL SIZE! Value $24
This lipstick is very moisturizing, and the color is another perfect shade for me!
(From the info booklet: subscribers will either receive this lipstick or the Moisturizing Lip Gloss).
Jouer Creme Eyeshadow Crayon in Abstract - FULL SIZE! Value $24
This eye crayon glides on so smoothly and would be perfect for a smoky eye look. The soft black almost has some blue undertones to it too.
Jouer Flat Kabuki Brush - Value $14
Jouer Travel Eyelash Curler - Value $10?
I love getting makeup tools in subscription boxes - and this flat kabuki brush is so soft!
Jouer Perfume Oil Rollerball Mini - 1.18 ml Value $7
(I forgot to get a picture of this little mini perfume, so I had to use a screenshot from my unboxing video).
This is an extra sample "included for your enjoyment." I love that it is a rollerball - I wish all perfume minis were! The scent is floral, and I like it, but don't love it. I'm sure I will use this amount of it though!
Verdict: This is one of my favorite new subscription boxes of 2015. I paid $45 for the box, and received over $150 worth of makeup and beauty items customized to my skin tone! That is such an amazing deal! And the packaging for this box is incredible as well - it felt just like opening a beautiful gift! I already can't wait until the next box. (And now I'm hoping other makeup brands pick up on this trend of making their own subscription box - AKA please do this tarte!)
What do you think of the Jouer Le Matchbox? What items did you get in your box? Were you happy with the shades?
