jouer-matchbox-april-2015-

Le Matchbox is a brand new subscription box from Jouer Cosmetics. I've sampled Jouer thanks to Birchbox, and I've been very impressed with their makeup products, so I signed up for this box immediately!

UPDATE: This subscription is currently out of stock.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Le Matchbox

The Cost: $45 a quarter

The Products: “Each selection is determined by responses to our quiz, providing you with an assortment of full size Jouer essentials most flattering for your coloring and suitable for your skin type.

Each curated box is accompanied with a mini magazine providing product details and application tips. Jouer delivers the most advanced skincare benefits, effortlessly luxurious colors, in smart on-the-go packaging.”

Keep track of your subscriptions: Add this box to your have list or wish list.

FYI – before you sign up for the subscription, make sure to create an account on their site. (When you are actually purchasing the Matchbox subscription, there is no field to enter your email address, but I created an account and made sure I was signed in when I bought a subscription, and I did receive an email order confirmation).

jouer-matchbox-april-2015-booklet

When you first sign up for this box you take a quiz to determine if your skin is warm or cool toned, and that will dictate which makeup shades you receive. (My box is cool tone).

jouer-matchbox-april-2015-info

The box comes with an info booklet that details all the items you may receive. (For example, on the lip page on the left, they let you know you'll receive either the lipstick or the lipgloss in your box).

jouer-matchbox-april-2015-face-oil

Jouer Daily Repair Treatment Oil - FULL SIZE! Value $48

When the first item is worth more than you paid for the entire box, you know it is going to be a good box!

This daily repair treatment oil is paraben and fragrance free, and made to be used in place or in addition to your moisturizer. It also is supposed to mimic the positive effects of Retinol without the possible harsh side effects. I like the formula - it absorbs somewhat quickly, and leaves a slight sheen to your skin.

(From the info booklet: subscribers will either receive this oil, or the Daily Clarifying Treatment Oil).

jouer-matchbox-april-2015-blush

Jouer Powder Blush in Peony - FULL SIZE! Value $26

This blush is highly pigmented, and just looking at the color in the pan I never would have bought this for myself - but it actually works great for my skin tone! (I'm now starting to think we need more warm/cool skin tone customized makeup subscription boxes). I only need a very little amount of the blush to get the right amount of color, so this blush will last a long time.

jouer-matchbox-april-2015-lipstick

Jouer Hydrating Lipstick in Whitney - FULL SIZE! Value $24

This lipstick is very moisturizing, and the color is another perfect shade for me!

(From the info booklet: subscribers will either receive this lipstick or the Moisturizing Lip Gloss).

jouer-matchbox-april-2015-eyeshadow

Jouer Creme Eyeshadow Crayon in Abstract - FULL SIZE! Value $24

This eye crayon glides on so smoothly and would be perfect for a smoky eye look. The soft black almost has some blue undertones to it too.

jouer-matchbox-april-2015-tools

Jouer Flat Kabuki Brush - Value $14

Jouer Travel Eyelash Curler - Value $10?

I love getting makeup tools in subscription boxes - and this flat kabuki brush is so soft!

Perfume Oil

Jouer Perfume Oil Rollerball Mini - 1.18 ml Value $7

(I forgot to get a picture of this little mini perfume, so I had to use a screenshot from my unboxing video).

This is an extra sample "included for your enjoyment." I love that it is a rollerball - I wish all perfume minis were! The scent is floral, and I like it, but don't love it. I'm sure I will use this amount of it though!

Verdict: This is one of my favorite new subscription boxes of 2015. I paid $45 for the box, and received over $150 worth of makeup and beauty items customized to my skin tone! That is such an amazing deal! And the packaging for this box is incredible as well - it felt just like opening a beautiful gift! I already can't wait until the next box. (And now I'm hoping other makeup brands pick up on this trend of making their own subscription box - AKA please do this tarte!)

What do you think of the Jouer Le Matchbox? What items did you get in your box? Were you happy with the shades?

I ordered mine a lot later in the month, and it came with a coordinating cosmetic bag as a replacement for the stuff not coming in one of their signature boxes. I honestly didn’t even notice that it was in a regular cardboard box because I was too busy being impressed by how well they packed their items for shipment. I’m also really impressed by the quality of the individual item packages.

Cary,
Which box did you get? I am a neutral skin tone so I’m not sure which one to pick. How is the quality?
Thanks

Question about the eye lash curler: Is there supposed to be a rubber bumper on the top and bottom portion of the curler (where you stick your lashes)? Mine only has a bumper on the bottom and the top is just very hard, thin plastic that looks like it might damage or cut off your lashes.

I am, admittedly, not knowledgeable about this type of tool.

Hi Cindy – every eyelash curler I’ve seen only has a bumper on the bottom part. I use one every day and have never had a issue with lashes being damaged or cut off. Just be careful not to pull at all when you are holding it on your lashes. 🙂

Thank you Kristen for your prompt response.

I’m not huge into makeup, but I like something a little special everynow and then. I tried Jouer through Birchbox and loved how natural it looks! I took their quiz and got a WARM box per the recommendation and the colors are PERFECT for me! I love it!

I got the Daily Repair Treatment Oil and I’m looking to swap for the Daily Clarifying Treatment Oil if anyone is interested!

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

My box came today and I got the repair version as desired. Hope you can find a trade for the one you want.

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy

My box is en route. If I get the Clarifying, I will swap with you as I want the repair oil. I didn’t even realize there were differences in the oils sent.

Nisha

Sounds good!

I was billed again this weekend, even though I just got the box. I thought this was a quarterly subscription. I will try customer service, they have been very helpful in the past, but I’m not too pleased about this.

Received my box today. Everything about it is so elegant — from the shimmering tissue wrapping to the product inside, which I can’t wait to use.. Easily one of the best boxes I’ve ever received.

I loved everything in my box. I hope more companies follow suit. Liz, QVC sells Tarte products and Tarte always (approx every 3 months) has a one day only special kits (that includes foundations, palettes, etc). You get so much bang for your buck.

Thanks for the tip – I can never have too much tarte! 🙂

Cindy

How are these shipped?

Bish

Mine came via FedEx, and they ship from LA

Cindy

Thanks.

I just got this box in the warm shade as I like the sun kissed. I’ve always wanted to buy Jouer on Gilt, but it was still pricey. This is a great value and happy I got it.

This was back in stock this morning and I subbed. Yay!

I’m so sad this box is sold out! I love Jouer and this box looks perfect!

I sent them a note about the cosmetic bag because I was curious and was told that they were randomly included in boxes based on social media sharings/postings. Not sure where/how they pulled the names, but that makes sense since not everyone got them no matter what box you ordered. I am very happy with my box.

Bish

hmm, I got a bag and while I do follow them on instagram, it’s under a different email than the one linked to my Jouer account. With or without the bag though, this is an amazing box!

Cynthia

I love my warm box, but it didn’t come with the bag someone mentioned. I love the lipstick, oil and agree that roller balls are the way to go on perfumes. I’m not going to use the eyeshadow (hooded eyes here… yuk!), curler or blush they are all nice and I’ll pass them on to friends.

You can sharpen the shadow to use as an eyeliner. The sharpener is at the bottom of the creme stick. Just pull it out. I have deep set eyes & no way would I use the black shade as a shadow, but have used it as an eyeliner & works good.

Terri

Can someone post pics of the products in the warm box please.

Chrissy

Waaaaah, I knew I should have signed up earlier! I’m on the waitlist.

Gloria

Great box! This year I’m more selective with my boxes. For makeup related I still prefer LMDB Vip… If I wanted/needed more makeup this would have been in my list. Hope everyone who ordered is happy!

Reply ButtonReply

Marie

Curious, what is LMDB vip box?

Reply ButtonReply

Kristina

It stands for Le Metier de Beaute VIP box.

PA Anna

Wow! I am impressed. I signed up to be notify when it is available again.

I got the warm tone, which was all the same items as Liz, just different shades. Also, it seems the warm collections came with a cloth leopard “it bag” and the cool did not. That brought the value of mine to over $160, which is phenomenal. I thought maybe it was in replace of something else, but I have the same items. Perhaps next quarter the cools will get a bag and the warms will not. I just found it odd.

I looooove this box. I am so thankful that you posted it Liz! For those who missed out, last week Jouer commented on their Instagram that the box would be back in stock “mid” week. (this week) so I would keep checking because you don’t want to miss out on this if you like Jouer.

Jenna

I didn’t get a bag and I received a warm tone box

Reply ButtonReply

jaclyn

Wow! Now THAT is a great box! I want one soo bad. Haha.

Reply ButtonReply

Gina

For anyone interested in the WARM box, it was the same items as Liz but it included different shades. Blush in Peach Bouquet, hydrating lipstick in Meredith, and eyeshadow crayon in renaissance.

Reply ButtonReply

Marie

Thank you for revealing the colors in the warm box!! Waiting on mine and went and looked up the color and I’m so pleased and can’t wait to get my box!

Reply ButtonReply

Brooke

Yay!!! Mine came yesterday and I also LOVE it (& also am cool)! I was hoping they’d go big for the first box and they did not disappoint. Don’t know if subsequent boxes will be so awesome but I’m going to give it a shot. Thanks for the heads-up on this one Liz!

I lovelovelove, worship, and adore the perfume. It might be worth going onto the swap site for…

lisad

I received the exact same box, very nice!

Reply ButtonReply

AmyM

WOW!! So happy I went for it because this box is INsane! Cannot wait to receive it. I’m getting the cool box this time out but I have neutral undertones so I’m hoping I can switch between warm and cool just for variety’s sake.

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

I was waiting to see what the first boxes contained before I signed up, but now I’m totally sold on it! I might cancel PopSugar Must Have and get this instead, I don’t even care that it’s only once every quarter.

Reply ButtonReply

Whitney // Beauty With Whitney

I NEED THE LIPSTICK because of the name and the shade looks great hahaha.

Reply ButtonReply

Ragan

Haha. I did buy a Julep polish once in a color I don’t even care for all that much, but it was called “Regan,” which I figure is the closest I’ll ever get to finding a beauty product with my name.

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

I swapped for the Raegan nail polish because it is my step daughters name

Ashley

Julep Ashley has been sold out since I became a Maven, and I’m so frustrated that I can’t have it! haha I don’t even like the color that much! I’ve tried swapping for it, but haven’t been able to make a match yet. 🙁 lol

Wow, this box looks lovely. Unfortunately it’s not available anymore.
