My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Ipsy Review – April 2015 Julie G

Julie G Nail Color in Damsel - FULL SIZE! Value $4

While this isn't a nail polish brand I get excited about, it's a lovely bright pink creme - perfect for summer!

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive - .26 oz Value $5

I believe I have this in a full size or deluxe size from another subscription, so I'm fine with getting a travel size too. I like pretty much everything I've tried from Juice Beauty, and this "peel" is extremely gentle - it leaves my skin softer, and while it doesn't have dramatic results, I like it and use it often.

Ipsy Review – April 2015 Starlooks

Starlooks Lipgloss Mini in Cuddle - Value $4? (no size listed)

This lipgloss is a tad on the sticky side, but I do like the subtle shimmer and color it provides. It's probably not something I'll use often because of the stickiness though.

Jor'el Parker Femina - 8.8 ml - Value $21

I didn't know this was a Harvey Prince brand until I looked up the value! (I feel like Harvey Prince has been in so many subscription boxes lately). I like the scent, and I appreciate that it is a rollerball.

Ipsy Review – April 2015 Flirty

theBalm Nude Dude Eyeshadow in Flirty - Value $3

This is the item that I believe all ipsy subscribers received this month. (I'll probably try to swap for a few more shades - I love the colors of their Nude Dude palette, and the packaging is fun!)

This Flirty shade didn't go on as heavily pigmented as the swatches on their site show, but that's fine with me - it's a nice subtle everyday color with just a hint of shimmer.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $37. That's a great value for a $10 beauty bag - though I wish the majority of the value didn't come from a perfume. I'm happy with the sizes of all the items this month, and I think I received a good variety of items: the makeup, nail polish, skin care, perfume categories are all covered!

And I think the actual bag itself is great this month too! What did you get from Ipsy this month?

I would not recommend Ipsy to anyone. I received my Birchbox a week ago. I have been on ipsy’s wait list since April 24 because I have not provided free advertising on social media sites or recruited new customers. Ipsy’s marketing policy is underhanded, at best.

Michelle, while I agree that their marketing policy is utter crap, I have found a way around it without actually sharing anything….When it prompts to share on Facebook, just click the drop down menu and select only yourself to “share with”. Then, when it requests to message your friends, just message only yourself!
Ta-da! And you’re off the wait list without spamming your friends about a brand you haven’t actually tried ?

Hello

Wow! Thanks for that!

Oh, got a May ipsy spoiler and no clue how to share!!

Has anyone else had issues with getting their bag. I got an email April 13 that it was on its way and still haven’t gotten it ):

I’m having the same problem

I’m very new to the subscription game but I love the concept. This was my 1st Ipsy bag & I’m really pleased.

I got the Hikari ‘Tango’ blush – It’s a little bright but 1 sweep across the cheek does the trick. Not a huge fan but it’s decent & I’ll use it (Maybe I need some more brightness in my blush palette!) Full size.

The Hey Honey ‘Good Morning’ facial serum (SPF 15) soaks in nicely, is lightweight & smells good but not overpowering. I’m not sure if it does anything fantastic for my skin but I’m happy to give it a whirl. Nice size deluxe sample.

The Nude Dude in ‘Fit’ is a perfect colour for me – light copper with a tiny bit of shimmer, just enough to catch the light. I would definitely think about purchasing a full size version. Size is about 1/4 of a full pan. Superficially, the art work is cute & I really like the magnetic closure on the sample which will keep it good for use for a longer time.

The Starlooks lipgloss in ‘Cuddle’ is a nice natural colour, good for a shiny top-coat with another lippy or just on its own for a some colour & sheen. It is sticky though & seems like kind of dime-store quality; it doesn’t wear very long. It’s not bad or anything but I don’t think I’d buy a replacement after the sample is gone.

My favourite item was the Jor’el Parker ‘Femina’ perfume roll-on. It’s delish! Funnily, perfumes were one of the categories I marked that I wasn’t interested in for the profile quiz. However, the biggest reason I became interested in subscriptions is to try new things so I’m glad they ignored that so I could sample this new-found fave. It’s a very deluxe tester size (.30fl oz) & the roller ball is perfect for a more controlled application; you can build the scent or make it more subtle.

The bag is gorgeous, love the colours & material. This one’s a keeper for sure.

For my 1st month of my 1st sub, I’m quite impressed. I don’t expect every month to be a home run but I’m looking forward to the hits & misses so I can find some new brands, re-discover some old ones & give the items I’m not keen on to people who may like them. A friend who gave me my now-fave eyeshadow from one of her Ipsy bags is the reason I found out about subs in the first place – and I can’t afford to fall in love with every single product anyway. 🙂 All in all, great value esp. for only $10!

Regarding the wait-list; I was wait-listed for about 2 months. I hung on for a while as I didn’t want to do the ‘skip’ steps because I HATE posting that kind of stuff online but then wrote them a nice, polite email & they took me right off. I’m glad because this bag was a fantastic introduction to the service.

PS – Love the site!

First ipsy bag and Im not impressed. With the exception of the full size blush (which I don’t wear) , I feel like I could have gotten more walking through the make-up section of a major dept store on a wknd. 🙁

I have been subscribed to Ipsy for 15 months now and this is the worst bag I have received. I have done every review since I started so they should know what I like! I feel like Ipsy has gradually gotten cheaper and cheaper products over the last six months or so. I have so many things I wont use or even try. They show so many good things but I wonder who is getting them?

I got the MICA Eye Primer that they sent an email out for because people thought it had mold spots on top. The manufacturer said it was fine but mine smells off, like bad oils. They are sending me a replacement product.

I am done with Ipsy and replacing it with Petit Vour. I love my Birchbox and will always keep that. 🙂

This months bag was cute, it will make for a better present for a younger girl. I should have read the reviews earlier to opt out of this months bag. I hope Ipsys monthly bag makes some changes soon..
I ended up with the rollerball perfume, fit dude shadow, Julie pink polish, starlooks gloss, hey honey face serum and hikari blush. The last few months I’ve been a bit disappointed with my Ipsy bags. Ipsy stopped including the beauty cards with product info their monthly bag, and the products are not the same quality and name brands as they were four or six months ago.

I’ve been an Ipsy sub for a year now and I have to say this is the worst bag I’ve received. I’ve always like at least 1-2 products in each bag and I’ve always like the bag itself, but this one just wasn’t for me. I’m not a fan of perfume samples, luckily I never get those, and I esp don’t need nail polish (my family owns a nail salon & I don’t wear nail polish at all), so I was disappointed to see I got that in my bag. And yeah, I’m pretty sure I won’t be using any of the products. I’m seriously considering switching to BoxyCharm. I was researching Liz’s reviews and I’m a sub that puts a lot of emphasis on the value of a box, and I like that BC has great value. I’m still on the fence though bc I also need to be able to actually get some use out of the products and I’m not sure I will be able to just yet based on past boxes.

I don’t like my bag this month. I’ve only been a member for 4 months now, but this is the worst by far. Each month, BB5 always wins for me. I might cancel Ipsy and go to Birchbox……

I got Pandora’s Blush (I never wear blush, yet for the second time they’ve sent me blush), Ultra Light Face Lotion by Lather, Pink Nail Polish (I’ll likely never use), Tinted Lip & Cheak Balm (nice color) and Nude Due in Flirty Copper. Meh.

I completely agree. I was not a fan of this month’s bag AT ALL! I didn’t like any of it. I’m thinking of switching to BoxyCharm.

This is my third month with Ipsy and most likely my last. I honestly don’t get the hype. They never send me anything that’s truly related to what’s specified in my profile or the product reviews I do – they send me the exact opposite.

Birchbox is far better in my opinion and so is their points system. I’ve subscribed to numerous boxes since Jan/Feb and Ipsy has been one of the absolute worst by far. I emailed their CS on the 14th and contacted them via Twitter and still haven’t heard back. They sent me nail polish and blush this month – both of which are NOT checked in my profile and they seem to do this every month, along with other samples I can’t use like fragrances.

What really sucks is when you see others with items that match your profile perfectly while your bag feels like an afterthought of random products thrown together… Birchbox and Glossybox are far superior in my opinion.

The bag itself is one of the prettiest I’ve received from Ipsy. I wasn’t too excited about the contents. Still, I can’t deny the value is there; I do wish I got the bag pictured in Ipsy’s “what’s in your April Glam Bag” email! Can someone remind me, exactly how many versions of this bag are there–ten, twenty? Seems there are endless versions.

This was my very first ipsy bag, and I couldn’t be happier.
I was on the wait list a while, so it was like Santa had made spring time visit….
I got the Lash Princess mascara, Femina fragrance, Theorie argan oil ultimate reform hair serum, Nude Dude shadow in Fit (a coppery color) and Starlooks gloss in Cuddle (did everyone get the same color gloss?). I’m impressed with getting a full size mascara, and with the sample sizes in general. I love the fragrance and it will probably last for ages.
My only gripe: I would’ve much rather had the Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel, than the Theorie serum as I have plenty of argan oil, and I’ve been wanting to try Juice beauty for years, but just didn’t want to plunk down the $$ for a trial run.
Other than that, my first bag was STELLAR!

The polish is too pink for my taste, and the Melted lipstick is too pale. I don’t wear perfumes, so I won’t be using that, either. I will wear the eyeshadow — think I got the Fit, but I’d have to check — and I’ll definitely use the dry shampoo. The bag is really cute, too. This was my first month, so hopefully it’ll focus in better over time.

This month was one of my best ever in 2 years. I received the Balm shadow in the same shade as Liz, Klorane tinted dry shampoo (first time I’ve gotten this brand ever, which is amazing in and of itself), a Crown shadow brush, the same nail polish shade as in the review and a full size bright coral-pink Hikari blush. I actually like and am happy to use every item in my bag. That’s pretty rare given how random the bags can be. Speaking of the bag, I didn’t expect I would like it as I’m not into boho style but turns out I really like it. It’s a great size, larger than most, and the woven fabric is super cute.

I received the Elizabeth Arden Lipstick, theBalm shadow, Pandora blush, eye primer, and Mullein & Sparrow Tint. Honestly, I feel like I got the best curated bag! And I never.. NEVER get the good stuff! This is by far my best Ipsy bag to date!

Jenny

I received the same exact bag as well!!!! I’ve never been a huge fan of lipstick but I’m trying to change that. In love with the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Red lipstick!!!! It made my bag!

Brandy

I received the crown concealer brush; my first concealer brush from a subscription. I received a few shadow brushes before. I also received Galany lipstick; mascara gorgeous packaging; lip balm olive; nudedude eye shadow.

I am really pleased considering the other items. I have been subscribed 9 months approx or 10 months. I have never received polish which I am happy about and never received perfume and happy about that also.

The quiz seems to be getting more and more accurate.

There were only a few items I would have liked better but all in all it is one of the perfect bag combos for me.

In mine: the perfume (half the name printed on the bottle is missing) and lip gloss are the same. My nude dude is “Fit”, a copper color. My two different items were; hey honey -Good Morning honey silk facial serum and HIKARI blush in ‘tango’.
I’m pretty bummed by my bag, doesn’t fit me, but I might use the lip gloss and nude dude (which is better than my bb5 box, won’t use any of that, all the items are really nice, just not for me). A goth chick and spring boxes, lol, I really should have waited till fall.

I received the copper Nude Dude, the same pink Julie G polish as Liz, an eye primer that seems pretty dry, Pandora blush and an olive oil lip balm. The products are OK, not my best IPSY month but the BAG!! So cute. I’d pay 10 bucks just for that so overall I can’t complain.

Mara

I am very happy with my bag this month! I received the Estée Lauder lipstick in Red Door, the copper Nude Dude eyeshadow, the lip/cheek stain, the eye shadow primer (not my fav, but ok) and Pandora’s blush in “pink carnation.” It is a good color for me, but I prefer another brand to purchase. I also think the bag could double as a small clutch in the summer. Overall, it was a win! I love red lipstick so that is my favorite and I believe it is full-sized.

Brooke

This is my first Ipsy bag and I’m very happy. I love the cosmetic bag woven fabric.

I got the same lip gloss and perfume. I got the Nude Dude eyeshadow in Fit which is a lovely rose gold type shade. I also got the Hikari blush in Tango and the Hey Honey Serum.

I was seriously thinking of unsubscribing from ipsy because my last few bags were so off the mark…however, this month is keeping me around…The actual bag is SO CUTE…I love how colorful it is. Also the contents of my bag were great, although the hakari blush was a little bright but I haven’t swatched it yet. i loved this bag so much! Yay ipsy!

This is my second Ipsy bag and I’m in love! I received a honey bee facial serum, blush, and the same eye shadow, lip gloss, and perfume. The perfume is by far my favorite, a grent scent and such a big sample size for a $10 bag! The eye shadow did not go on as dark as I thought it would but has a nice shimmer, the facial serum is great, and the lip gloss is the perfect size for my purse (although I agree it is sticky). Already can’t wait for next month!

Ashley

I love the bag this month. It’s so cute! I’m happy with its contents as well.

I got a full-size Hikari blush in Tango. I found out last month that Hikari (a brand I discovered through subscription boxes) is actually located about 5 minutes from my house! lol

I also received the Nude Dude eyeshadow in Flirty, Starlooks Lip Gloss in Cuddle, Mullein & Sparrow Tinted Lip & Cheek Balm and a Hey Honey serum.

Melody

I LOVE my bag again this month! I got the same nail polish, love the color! I got the same eye shadow in Fit and it looks like a light gold shimmer on, very pretty. I got Gallany lipstick in Petal which also looks beautiful on me. I got Olive lips oats and honey lip balm, smells like cocoa butter and I LOVE. And I got a make up concealer brush which is perfect because I just bought concealer from starlooks (I had $25 loyalty cash from subbing to starbox for three months) and it comes in a jar.

i dont get this box (and glad i dont as it seems i would get repeats form others) but i do consider it…..one thing i like is the rollerball pefume ! much better than the horrible little vials you get. but generally speaking i have WAY to many perfumes and nail polishes.
