Hammock Pack is a monthly mini vacation-in-a-box subscription. Each month they send you full-size items from a different location or themed vacation like “beach house.” This month's theme is Austin, Texas.

Bearded Brothers Bodacious Blueberry Vanilla Energy Bar - Value $3.50

This bar is vegan, plus gluten and soy free. I liked it and so did my husband!

A Wild Soap Bar Prickly Pear Soap - Value $6.50

I'm a little obsessed with the scents of natural soaps, and this one is wonderful. I love that it is made with natural and organic ingredients too.

Luna Tigre Candle in Bluebonnet - Value $8

This candle scent unfortunately wasn't for me - I appreciate that it is made with 100% soy wax though.

Little Minnow Designs Tea Towel - Value $14

While I don't get too excited about tea towels, I will use this, and the Little Minnow shop has a lot of cute items I'm now interested in!

Verdict: The total of this box comes to about $32. That's what I expect for Hammock Pack - it's usually a break-even box. I like the items in this box, but it's not my personal favorite. I don't know what I was expecting in an Austin box, but I think I had too-high expectations since I love the city so much!

What do you think of the Austin Hammock Pack?

I find it so fascinating how different these theme boxes are from what I think of as Austin. Austin has two slogans that you see everywhere- live music Capitol of the world, and keep Austin weird. Live music is everywhere, and Austin is a very unique place separate from the rest of Texas. Austin in the spring is covered with bluebonnets, indian paintbrushes and purple wild flowers. It is just starting to get hot. Austin has four seasons- cool, hot, hotter, and hottest. Hottest is from June until October. UT Austin, including their football team, is a constant. The tech field is booming. And traffic, always traffic. The bbq and Tex-mex is delicious. So if I were to create a box that described my home it would include a live music mix cd, a drawing or photograph of bluebonnets, something decorated with burnt orange Longhorns, pink grapefruit and watermelon flavored or scented items, bbq sauce, salsa, and a decorative hand fan or spray bottle fan.

Rachel that sounds like a great box! And more along the lines of what I’d appreciate from a location box. I don’t want misc items thrown together just because they were made in a particular place, but items that represent the place. Your description makes me want to visit Austin!

I don’t really think of Hammock Pack as a getaway box, more of a local product box. Which I love locally made goods, those are the types of souvenirs I get on vacation. This wasn’t a great box, but it evens out with the price of the box I liked two products out of it. My tea towel was a different print, but super thin. The soap I got was also different, it was Sunflower and smells amazing. I just signed up two months ago and loved the boxes previously, since I signed up, not so much.

Even with a great imagination I can’t conceive of how this could remotely equate to any sort of get away. Only the candle says get away to me. Thanks for letting us know about this box. I’ve finally found one I don’t have box envy over!
