Beauty Box 5 Review – March 2015 Box

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. It’s also one of the cheapest beauty subscription boxes – only $8.25 a month with an annual subscription. They tend to feature drugstore brands, and usually the product sizes are deluxe or sample size. (Sometimes they still send out the dreaded foil packets though).

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Beauty Box 5 Review – March 2015 Info

Each Beauty Box 5 box comes with an informational card detailing each item in your box for that month.

Beauty Box 5 Review – March 2015 Lipgloss

Styli-Style Line & Seal Twist in Brown Glitter - FULL SIZE! Value $4

Laugh Out Loud by Nanacoco in Desert Trip - FULL SIZE! Value $4

This eyeliner is a medium brown crayon pencil with glitter in the formula. Fortunately for me it isn't a lots-of-glitter look!

I was surprised by just how much I like this lip gloss! The shade is a perfect neutral pink for me, it's not sticky, and the finish has just enough shimmer and shine.

Beauty Box 5 Review – March 2015 Eslor

Eslor Sample Pack:

Chlorophyll Lifting Mask - 5 ml Value $3.80

Firming Collagen Day Cream - 5 ml Value $8.50

Botanical Peeling Gel - 5 ml Value $3.20

Soothing Refiner & Cleanser - 5 ml Value $2.40

I hate foil sample packets, but I like the Eslor skincare line, so I'm OK with this item inclusion. Plus I must admit, foil packets are always good for travel.

Elite Therapeutics Rosemary Eucalyptus Body Cream - .5 oz Value $1.20

This Elite Therapeutics brand is new to me, and I love that they use organic ingredients. It is a lightweight lotion, and the scent is light too - I like it!

Beauty Box 5 Review – March 2015 Mascara

Scandalous Mascara by Nanacoco - Value $5

This is a pretty intense looking mascara but I haven't tried it out yet. (I'm currently a bit obsessed with Benefit's Roller Lash).

Verdict: This box has a value of about $29. A good amount of that retail value comes from foil packets (just something to keep in mind). I haven't been excited about a Beauty Box 5 box in a while, but this is one of their better boxes in months for me. I discovered a few new products I like, and I think it is a good mix of makeup and skincare. (And no nail polish this month!)

What do you think of the March Beauty Box 5?

I liked this month a lot. The eyeliner I got in a bright turquoise, and I love it. It lasts a very long time, even when I forget and rub my eyes. The lip gloss I got is very similar in color to an elf gloss I loved that they discontinued, so that’s a win too! The lotion is very small, but it smells nice and seeps well. The packets I think are different from the ones everyone already got in old boxes, because on the package it says v2, or part 2, or something similar. The mascara is good for layering for me, because I get the true black my other fave mascaras for layering don’t offer me.

If bb5 keeps these good boxes up, I would be very happy. A couple more and I may even forget the toothpick/empty bottle fiasco from months ago, lol!

I got that body cream in my March Birchbox. I was expecting a clean, medicinal smell, but to me it smells like old kitchen sponge. I think it’s the worst thing Birchbox has ever sent me. Bleh.

Doesn’t look like a bad box otherwise, though recent reviews have put this one on my never list.

I got that Eslor sample pack in a beauty box I want to say last summer. Not sure where I got it from, too many subscriptions to remember lol. This box still looks disappointing to me, I haven’t heard of some of the brands. BB5 wasn’t terrible, just never exciting, the last two boxes I got though were really bad, had free samples and they put a retail value on them.

If you subscribed to BB5 last year, you would have got that in June. When I saw the box this month (Thank god I stopped my subscription ages ago!!) I wanted to face palm because they’ve done the Elsor before. https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2014/06/beauty-box-5-review-coupon-june.html

One description (June) says it’s the introductory collection kit, the second description (March) says it’s the introductory collection – second addiction. At least they’re acknowledging it’s the second time they’ve sent it…

I’ve been very hard in BB5 in the past, but if all of their boxes looked like this, they’d be a decent subscription. Still not enough to get me to ever resubscribe.

I have avoided this box because the past few months have seemed pretty crappy. This month looks nice though! I may have to consider adding this one to the list!

I received a blue eyeliner…and the mascara is BROWN! I’m soooooo disappointed.

I got that body cream in *two* Birchboxes (actually I think I got the same box on both accounts). I liked it but I can see people having strong opinions the other way, too, depending on their reaction to the scent. I wonder if it is going to become this year’s Pur-Lisse? Or maybe it is too soon to tell…
