Vegan Cuts Beauty Box Subscription Review – February 2015 Bag

The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural and healthy too!). They also typically include a nice mix of full size and sample beauty items.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

FYI – I subscribe to both the Snack and Beauty box, so Vegan Cuts combines them into one box for shipping – that’s why the beauty items are separated into their own bag.

Each beauty box comes with a card detailing the items included for that month.

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box Subscription Review – February 2015 SKincare

Alexandria Professional Phenonmen-all Skin Repair - 1 oz Value $29.25

Blissoma Mild Rice Cleanser - .5 oz Value $4

This Alexandria Professional line is new to me, and the Skin Repair is basically an all-purpose balm. I like the ingredients, but the formula itself is a little grainy, so I actually had to wipe some of it off since it wouldn't absorb into my skin.

This cleaner feels very gentle and I love the fresh natural scent. My only issue with it is the packaging - I think Blissoma needs to rethink some of their sample packaging as this is another sample I've received from them where it will be difficult to get all the product out.

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box Subscription Review – February 2015 Lipstick

Red Apple Lipstick in Strawberry Lips - FULL SIZE! Value $24.50

This is my favorite discovery in the box. I don't wear lipstick that much, but this one is perfect for me. It goes on somewhat sheer so you can build the amount of color you want, and I love the ingredients too! (In addition to being vegan, the lipstick is also gluten-free).

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box Subscription Review – February 2015 Oil

Balanced Guru Scalp Detox - .5 oz (Travel Size) Value $12

Lauren Brooke Cosmetics Organic Sweet Chai Lip Scrub - Sample Value $1.50

This Balanced Guru Scalp Detox is a blend of essential oils made to be massaged into your scalp and rejuvenate your roots. (They also recommend taking a break from styling products when you use this). It smells wonderful, and I can't wait to try it!

Chai is one of my favorite scents, so I had a feeling I'd like this lip scrub even before I opened it. It has cinnamon as well, and I hope they make other products in this scent because I will buy them all!

Verdict: I think this is a really good Vegan Cuts Beauty Box - the value is over $70! (I think the value is usually pretty good, but this is very good). I also think I'll use all the products, I'm happy with the sample sizes, and I love the Red Apple Lipstick.

What do you think of the February 2015 Vegan Cuts Beauty Box?

Has anyone had trouble with their customer service? I ordered they’re winter essentials box last month and the bracelet and clutch were broken. I emailed them backk and forth and filled out the form and haven’t received my replacement and its been almost a month! I’m kind of disappointed becuase they’re aren’t a lot of boxes out there for vegans and I wanted to subscribe….but maybe not

BTW Petit Vour is pretty awesome, also vegan. I really like their curations of their beauty boxes. Definitely check them out. = )

You should let them know you are NOT a subscriber because sometimes they might wait until they ship the next beauty box for the month and put your stuff in there. Let them know to ship it ASAP to you because you are not a beauty box subscriber.

Too be honest so far I have received 3 beauty boxes and 2 out of the 3 are kind of sucky.

So after a couple of days to let the this month’s awesome Vegancuts samples sink into my life…this is what I found out.

Alexandria Professional Phenonmen-all Skin Repair – 1 oz Value $29.25: this product is quite strange. I don’t think it’s worth as much as the value listed. I actually had a hard time squeezing the cream out. The substance looked hard and yellowish. I thought maybe my sample was old but it turns out that is how it is suppose to be. I proceed to rub it into my hands and it did felt grainy like how Liz described. I continue to rub my hands until the grains sunk into my hands. At this point I was pretty okay with it. Feels really moisturizing on my dry hands. Then I got a whiff of the smell…IT LITERALLY SMELLD LIKE INSTANT RAMEN/NOODLE SEASONING….LOL!! I mean some people might be into that but I am not. So I quickly washed that off my hands. Very confused.

Oh VeganCuts this was a fabulous box but at the end I only liked 2 products out of the whole box. I am really in love with the lipstick and the lip scrub. The mild rice face wash I will definitely give to my mom because I think that brand is fabulous. Feeling super indifferent about the BalancedGuru Scalp Oil.

And a big NO for Alexandria Professional Phenonmen-all Skin Repair!!

But looking forward to VeganCuts March’s Beauty Box!! = D

I am super sad my box came missing the lipstick. When I wrote to them, they asked me to fill in a form and offered to send me a bonus item in my next box, but what I’d really like is the missing lipstick.

Genevieve

So I finally tried using the Blisoma Mild Rice Cleanser. I totally agreed, the bottle is way too difficult to get the stuff out. I am a bit confused there are no bubbles when I wash my face with it. The directions said to just rub it on the face and clean it with warm…but after I cleanse my face it still feels oily? Any thoughts anyone??

I just used the cleanser and I liked it, but really smelled like lemon pledge to me. My skin is kind of dry so I liked that it left my skin soft. The lip scrub was amazing too, it smells soooo delicious I love it!

I LOVE that lip scrub, am thinking of getting a full size of it. Smells good.

I agree with the oddness of this cleanser. Used it again tonight and really felt my skin after use. It did leave almost an oily feeling. This may be something better for someone with drier skin, this may be what is making my face break out.

This would work well for some types of skin I am sure, especially drier skin in the winter.

Okay, I am glad that I am not the only one who thought the Rice Cleaner was a bit odd. I see, then I guess it’s not for me either. I did get two pimples right after I used for two days. =/ Extremely mild for me but I think my mother would appreciate it. Her skin is very sensitive, thin and dry.

I shall be off to continue my search for a good face cleanser that works for me.

Just a thought here on the Blissoma sample: there’s a product called The Spatty (it was featured on Shark Tank awhile back). It’s a little spatula used to get the product out of bottles. They make a larger one, called The Spatty Daddy, for use in larger bottles, like shampoo or lotions.

The percentage of product left behind in the bottles is pretty high, and sometimes it’s done intentionally by the manufacturer, so this invention is one of those “why didn’t I think of that” things that are so needed.

I am intrigued by this lipstick! Would anyone be up for trading with me?

I think lip scrub is one of the product we really need in winter time and it is almost never in sub boxes. I have so many lipstick / lipglosses from boxes but no lip scrub at all… It looks like really nice box.

Chelsea

If I sign up today for this sub, what are the chances I could get this box? Anyone know?
Thanks!

If you want to get those itmes still, keep an eye out for the seasonal / themed beauty boxes VC sells on their site – the items in those boxes tend to be extras from previous month’s boxes.

Chelsea

Um never mind. Web site says next mailing is March 18th…
Anyone wanna trade for the February Petit Vour box?

Sara

I signed up for this box so I could get the nail wraps and I got them! They’re even prettier in person. The chai lip scrub smells amazing and I can’t wait to try the cleanser.

Liz – ironically I just ran into the issue with another Blissoma sample product, literally 5 minutes ago and the bottle was still almost half full. It was the soothing balm the Petit Vour, the Dec box I believe. Why they opted to use a medicine dropper as an applicator/dispenser is beyond me. I wound up using the little rubber scraper tool from yet another sub box I can’t recall offhand and it did the trick. But still….Blissoma if you’re listening, enough with the useless sample size dispensers!

Sneaky Burrito

I don’t subscribe to this box but just wanted to chime in — medicine droppers are awful for dispensing so many skincare products. I am trying to use a serum from one now and I am having a heck of a time with it. I can get like two drops at a time. So frustrating.

What’s weird to me is I imagine a plastic squeeze tube would be cheaper than a glass bottle with medicine dropper!

I am was so blown out of the water with this month’s VeganCuts Beauty Box. I open the box in disbelief and wonder…

Blissoma – I’ve been so in love with their toner from Petit Vour Beauty Box I really wanted to try their other products. BAM!! It appears in this month’s VeganCuts box!! <3

Red Apple Lipstick – This lipstick is the bomb. The container itself is so smooth and slick I can't stop twisting it. The lipstick itself has a super smooth texture and smells nice.

Balanced Guru – Okay I am not such a big fan of this product is because I don't like putting oil in my hair but I will try this. I hope it doesn't increase my dandruff…lol

Alexandria Pro – My hands are always dry so I am excited to try this product….but wow this product is incredibly expensive for a skin cream product. =/

Chai Lip Scrub – Oh this smells sooooo good and tastes good too. I actually put too much and my skin were all waxed out afterward. So I had to wipe the oil off. Just use a little and it goes a long way.

I am super happy with mine – I also don’t wear lipstick, but am so happy with the “Audrey” shade that I received. It just adds a bit of subtle color!
