Sample Society Spoilers for February 2015

What do you think of the full spoilers? I’m not super excited about this box, but I’ll wait until I have it in my hands before I decide how I feel about it.

  1. Now that I have this box in hand, I actually love it! I just wish there were more full size items! The dry shampoo is so nice, the nail polish is a really pretty sky blue color-I thought it was gray-the masks are adorable, the strivectin is nice and I love the Chloe Love story-just annoyed at the vial on card! But, the vial on card is an extra item so I guess I am happy with the box! Way better than anything I ever got with IPSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I just cancelled this because for $15 they can’t even do better than birchbox. September was good but every month since has been underwhelming to say the least. I subscribed to boxycharm instead; for $6 more you can get full sized stuff.

    • Agree! I cancelled b/c of this months box. I actually did like December & January but this is not worth $15 or 16 (I get charged 16) a month. This is in the league of Ipsy & birchbox…most of the time, Ipsy is better in my opinion. I pay a bit more for boxycharm & glossybox. I’m a bit of a junkie and try to maintain a $50 a month budget for my out as $52. I have boxycharm, glossybox (a year strong with glossy, love them) and Ipsy – those are my fave 3.

  3. I finally subscribed to this box for February and am disappointed already before even getting my hands on it. They’re not sending the serum (and I love getting serums because they’re usually so expensive full price!) and the $5 credit is not a very satisfying alternative. Besides that, the items included in the preview do not excite me. I subscribe to 5 other beauty subscription boxes and so far even my two $10 boxes both have this $15 beat. I’m not giving up on them yet but they’d better do better than this next month. I wish I’d gotten the January box – that one looked better!

  4. My first month to get this box and apparently they left one of the items out of it. Not too impressed.

  5. I signed up after seeing the spoilers. My box shipped, and today I got an e-mail saying that the box shipped without the serum, so they’re refunding me $5. They won’t send me the serum, however.

To me that’s not really acceptable. I wrote back and said they should either substitute with an equivalent item or do a full refund. This does not seem to be a particularly professional operation.

    • Well, I just heard from them and they won’t make up for the “error”. Actually, I don’t think it was an error. Given that so many people got the serum in January, I think they just didn’t have enough for the February boxes. Rather than be honest about it, and either stop taking February orders or substitute with another item, they just mailed some boxes without the serum and figured they’d give a little refund and people would be OK with it.

      In any case, I’m cancelling.

  6. I am also glad that I cancelled my sub for this one. It is really disappointing especially for a holiday month. I think I will also be cancelling my Ipsy and trying Glossybox for a while. I need a box change for this month and I like full size product instead of all sample sizes and that perfume sample is a joke. I also have tons of them from Sephora.

    • Yvonne, I subscribe to 6 beauty boxes and Glossybox is my absolute favorite. If I could only get one it would be that one. They consistently send $100 or more worth of product – high end and full size. I highly recommend it!

  7. ugh, disappointing! I thought there was a full size volumizing hair thing in each one and they were re-vamping? I loved their december & jan box. I haven’t received my box just yet but I am ready to cancel if it’s this bad. I thought they not sending those tiny perfumes out anymore as well. That’s not a “deluxe” sample. I get so many of those from sephora that I have a box full at this point. Glossybox and Boxycharm crush this one – I will keep those and Ipsy. I do like Wantables makeup, just not paying over 35 for a box. That’s getting too crazy, even for me! lol. I don’t find this box to be worth it in comparison to the others. I am interested in trying beauty joy though…they are fairly new – will you be reviewing them? I won’t commit until I see a few boxes lol!

  8. I canceled after I saw this box. You can ususally buy the boxes as a 1x buy from the website anyway. So if I see a good one in the future I’ll just pick it up that way. The boxes are so hit or miss I don’t want the commitment anymore.

  9. This box is really sad. 🙁 Only thing I’m looking forward to is the face masks! If the perfume is even a small rollerball instead of the regular small perfume sample, that would make up for it.

  10. Boy am I glad I cancelled last month and switched to Ipsy (I also have been with Birchbox for 2 yrs who I love). I hated last month’s box so canceled the day I received it.
I’m looking forward to my first Ipsy bag.

  11. That’s it. Show’s over, I am finally ready to pull the plug. I have subscribed for almost two years with sample society and each box gets cheaper and more dull. I am just not feeling the partnership with Allure. The final straw was filling out a survey monkey poll a week ago for them and receiving a (almost) combative email from customer service saying they looked into my account and couldn’t find an account or any issues with it. It was a bizarre email. Did anyone else get the poll email? I mean at least offer me a coupon in your online store or a thank you email. But don’t accuse me of *not* having an account or any product ordering discrepancies. Just weird. For me once sub boxes are not fun, and emails start feeling like I am arguing with a relative. I am gone. Sorry for the rant. Between Birchbix, Yuzen and Petit Vour, I am all set.

  12. There is nothing in this box that I would use except for face masks. The moment dashboards updated and contents revealed, I have gone ahead and cancelled. I would rather have another ipsy than to stay subscribed to SS.

  13. Why do they charge twice when you sign up?

    • They also charged me twice. I emailed them and asked but I’m waiting on a response.

  14. Allure announced the we are receiving an extra Strivectin on February in addition to the items already included in the box.

  15. I’m pretty bummed. I like these items but none are Full Size!!! ugh! except maybe the nail polish. If they didn’t have 7 items, I’d be pretty upset!
I love chloe but hate vials on a card in sub boxes! I also like the masks, dry shampoo, and strivectin! The nail polish is a bit of a bust for me but maybe ill have fun with the color! Bring on the full size SS!!!!! I’m waiting!!!

  16. I’m not thrilled but the 7 items makes it a good box for me. Everything will get used except the perfume, unless it smells entirely different than the original Chloe. I’m not a fan of that one lol

  17. Only like the serum. Bummer.

  18. This will be my first box. I signed up because I wanted the January box so badly. This one isn’t nearly as exciting to me, but it’s not bad. I’m in a nail polish swap group so if I don’t like this color I can find someone who will.

  19. I’m new to subscriptions in general, so I think this box is fine. I’ll use the masks, though I have enough masks to last me for a long time now, I love perfume, and I have never tried dried shampoo before.

That said, I only ordered in the last couple of weeks, and my box is on backorder, so who knows what I’ll get.

  20. I am actually really happy with this box 🙂 I love Batiste dry shampoo and nugg masks so I would have purchased those anyway. The nail polish looks really pretty and I actually really wanted to try the new Chloe perfume. I haven’t tried the Strivectin from last month yet but if it is a good product then I am happy to have more.

  21. ugh! I really have enough nail polish this box seems blah. Not excited at all. Well, I shouldn’t say that I really like those masks but they won’t last long, perfume is always hit or miss. That strivectin I love but the sample doesn’t even last a week, for me anyways. The dry shampoo I like but I wish it were full size. My hair is long and thick so this lasts me one use 🙁 boo hoo! It’s an ok box nothing wow I’m so pumped… I like when I’m so pumped but all in all a good box. Bring on March baby! Haha

  22. I’m mad at myself for not canceling last month. I was going to, then work dragged me away and I forgot. Because honestly, there is nothing in this box that I am interested in. Not a single item. I don’t use dry shampoo, I don’t wear perfume (close friend with an allergy), that nail polish color looks awful, and I don’t use masks. If I weren’t already up to my eyeballs in serum’s I might be interested in giving the strivectin a chance, but I am already buried. The only positive I can think of is at least there isn’t a black eyeliner in there.
