Hitha On The Go Quarterly Subscription Box Review #HGQ04 Box

I’ve had a few readers reccomend the Hitha On To Go Quarterly box, so I had to try it out!.

If you aren’t familiar with Hitha, here is her Quarterly mini-bio:

A recovering overpacker and seasoned world traveler, Hitha teaches women how to travel in style with only a carry-on. Each box features must-pack items and a guide to a packing problem area.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Hitha On The Go Quarterly Subscription Box Review #HGQ04 Letter

Each Quarterly box comes with a letter from the curator detailing the items included and why they were selected. The theme for this box is about packing toiletries. (The letter also included a 20% off coupon code to 3floz.com)

Hitha On The Go Quarterly Subscription Box Review #HGQ04 Case

Flight001 F1 X-Ray Quart Bag - Value $14

I'm pretty excited about this toiletry travel bag. It is TSA approved, and plastic so I don't have to worry about anything spilling on the lining and ruining the bag. When my husband and I fly (which isn't that often) I find myself scrambling to try to fit all my liquid under 3 oz items in a zip lock bag, and usually end up giving Eric a zip lock bag full of my items I couldn't fit in the first bag to pass off as his own. This bag has a 2-inch width and should handle everything I need to put in it!

Hitha On The Go Quarterly Subscription Box Review #HGQ04 Serge Normant

Serge Normant Meta Revive Volumizing Dry Shampoo - 2 0z Value $15

This dry shampoo gets mixed reviews on Birchbox, but I like the other Serge Normant products I've sampled through subscription boxes, and Hitha says it is her all time favorite dry shampoo, so I wanted to try it asap.

I just had washed my hair, so I didn't get the experience of trying it on hair with excess oil that needed to be absorbed, but I can tell that it adds some volume and texture.

I'll have to try it under proper conditions to see if it is a good dry shampoo for me.

Hitha On The Go Quarterly Subscription Box Review #HGQ04 Basics

SW Basics Exfoliant - .7 oz Value $12

SW Basics Toner - 1 oz Value $12

Reusable Cotton Round - Value $.50?

I love the SW Basics line - they use natural and organic ingredients and their ingredient lists are always short and recognizable! These two samples will go straight to my new toiletry bag for my next trip! (Also, since the exfoliant is a powder that needs to be mixed with water, so it can go in a non-liquids bag).

This reusable cotton round was included to use with the toner as well. It probably needs to be washed before I use it as it has some packing paper dust on it.

In addition to the physical items included in this box, the subscription also comes with a packing guide emailed to subscribers. For this box, subscribers received a PDF of the How to Pack Toiletries guide (Value $8).

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $53. ($61 if you count the pdf guide toward the value). If you only count the retail value of the products, it is pretty much break-even with the cost of the box, so I'd keep that mind if you are thinking of subscribing. This box is more about getting a curated travel guide with products each quarter - but not about getting a high-value box. That being said, I think I'll use everything Hitha selected.

What do you think of #HGQ04?

I got an email from Quarterly the other day that this sub is now cancelled. This was the last box from Hitha. I was kind of relieved, since I didn’t have to decide if I should cancel or not.

Not surprising — her boxes didn’t seem to be going over well and she’s about to have a baby and is making some career changing… Kind of surprise it lasted thru #4.

I was just looking and it appears that a lot of curators have gone recently. The only two I am left interested in are Tim Ferris and Dave Asprey ( I love bulletproof stuff), but adding shipping to the boxes makes me want to see the next ones before I subscribe. Also, half the time, as far as Dave Asprey goes, I can get the stuff on amazon for the same price, no shipping. Tim Ferris though, I am still tempted.

This is another of the boxes I keep wanting to subscribe to but I don’t see the value. The makeup bag (which I don’t see flying with TSA – oh I didn’t intend the pun lol) is incredibly over priced and/or valued. There are tons and tons of cute makeup bags at Target or CVS. And as someone pointed out the packing guide is worth nothing as you can get it for free.

I’ve actually been eyeing the SW Basics Eco Cotton Rounds for a while – they are $22 for 8. A great way to be more sustainable. I would love to try – wish I got this box!! http://store.swbasicsofbk.com/products/eco-cotton-rounds

It would have helped the value if she had included a whole box of them, but seriously – one cotton round?

I think it fits the theme well. I love SW Basics and buy it from Target online. Still, I would had been disappointed in this box. I don’t think this box is for me.

I was really disappointed in this box, especially coming from Quarterly. I was totally expecting a much better box and I travel a lot living in Hawaii. Oh well, I will chalk it up as a learning experience and be sure to watch for spoilers next time. I didn’t catch any of them for this one, but I would have cancelled if I did.

I don’t travel as much as I used to, but I’m still drawn to any travel-related box; they always pique my interest. I am glad that I skipped this one though! I am just not impressed, esp for the cost… The spoilers for Fathom have also not impressed me. Between its high cost and quarterly’s change in return policy, it’s not worth the risk.

I got her travel guide for free from signing up for her mailing list for her website. I also got this box unfortunately and got the travel guide email from quarterly. So I wouldn’t give it an $8 value since anyone could have gotten it for free by being on her mailing list.

I do really like the travel bag and I’m interested in those products but disappointed in the value. I should have cancelled when I saw the dry shampoo spoiler.

I’m surprised that the TSA allows a purple colored bag – their instructions say clear and zip-topped. Hitha had commented on her site that sometimes she wasn’t able to use her clear zippered bags on international flights. On the Flight001 site the web page for the clear case says that the transparent case is TSA approved, for the purple case if you read the description it says the size is TSA approved (not quite the same thing as the case itself…).

I cancelled as soon as she posted the value as being $70 (which she didn’t even hit). I’ve already bought one of the fancier toiletry bags that she recommended so I knew there would be a good chance that I wouldn’t need some of what was in the box.

I fly frequently and a quart size slide top bag works fine for me every time. I can’t see why one would take a reusable cotton round with them for travel. I think that’s silly.

Agree! Yuck!

I canceled this box at the last minute after I saw the dry shampoo spoiler. I have way to much dry shampoo I need to use first. SW Basics I’ve gotten in other boxes. The Flight001 F1 X-Ray Quart Bag is cute. Yet I’m glad I canceled when I did. I signed up for again for the next box. I hope the spoiler will be better then dry shampoo. I signed up for Fathom, even though I’m not thrilled with the 2 spoilers, I’m happy enough with them to still subscribe to the box. I agree with that it is more about curation with these types of boxes. If I got this box the only thing I would not have used is the dry shampoo so it would not have been a great box for me.

Wow I thought with Quarterly boxes you got at least double the value of the box. I’d be disappointed with this one for $50, but I love SW Basics, the exfoliant is the best.
