Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Box

Wantable is a monthly subscription service that has 3 different plans: Makeup, Accessories, and Intimates. (Plus a styling service for Fitness clothing similar to Stitch Fix in the try-then-buy model) It’s one of the pricier subscriptions ($36 a month), but everything they send is full size, and they fully customize the boxes based on your preferences.

Wantable sent me this makeup box at no cost to review.  (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Preferences

You get to take a very detailed survey of what items you love, like and dislike. You won’t receive anything in your dislike list.

I used to get very specific with this list, but I’ve found that I have better luck at high-value boxes when fewer things are on my dislike list.

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Info

And here’s my order summary.

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Geri

Geri G. Innocent Foundation in Light – Value $38

Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Pure Nude – Value $17

This foundation is very lightweight and almost has a bit of a mousse-like consistency. It’s a tad too light for my skintone, but it goes on somewhat sheer so I can still use it. And since they only offer 4-shades, I’m guessing this is my shade – medium would probably be too dark.

As soon as I saw the word “Sparklicity” on this eye shadow powder, I had a feeling it would be a little too much look for me. Fortunately the sparkle size is pretty micro – so I can avoid the “glitter all over my face” look. This will be perfect for adding just a little bit of sparkle for more formal looks.

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Gloss

Surratt Beauty Lip Lustre in Tres Chic – Value $32

(Pia) Beauty Eye Shadow in Disco #788436 – Value $19.50

On the applicator, this lip gloss looks deep purple, but just a little bit applied didn’t look too bold of a lip color for me. It’s a super glossy and rich looking formula with a little stickiness – but nothing that I find bothersome.

This pressed power eye shadow goes on smoothly and it is a very wearable shimmery copper shade.

Verdict: My favorite Wantable subscription is usually Intimates, but lately Makeup seems to be my favorite – I really like all the new brands they’ve been including, and I think it also helped to open up my preferences more. Plus this box has a value of over $100!

What did you get from Wantable Makeup this past month? Any favorite new discoveries?

  1. I have to different shades of that sparklicity…its so pretty…but be careful with it lol. A little bit goes a long long way.

  2. This will be my second box and I’m excited to see what I receive. I also received the ofra primer, the surrat lipcolor, a gorgeous spellbound nail color and the Tarantino Sparklacity powder in Nude was very happy. I’m keeping my fingers crossed but I love that I least I will not receive things that I definitely don’t want that is a big selling point to me.

  3. I signed up for black Friday deal, hoping to finally get a good makeup box from Want able… such luck! Really frustrated to see from Liz’s last two reviews that they send out foundation, just not to me! I got a face primer, mascara, lipstick and a dark purple (think black eye) eye shadow. A pile of nothing I needed as sub boxes love to send out primer and mascara….never foundation! I signed up because of the review from Liz showing mineral foundation, which I use and need! I contacted Wantable and asked if I could return my box for another, as the point of the promotion was to get current subscribers hooked on a new box. The response I received was short and rude. I didn’t get to try a new box, I was only able to get my $18 back, which was really disappointing, because I want to love Wantable makeup as much as I do Wantable Intimates! Really disappointed at the customer service response I received!

    • Just want to offer a suggestion, you know at the end of the wantable beauty survey where you get to write your own words, why don’t you note that you would love foundation and also make sure you have complexion as a love.

  4. You should look up Micheal Goss on YouTube for his 3 color foundation application. This foundation would be the perfect highlighting foundation 🙂

  5. I don’t get the makeup since I pretty much don’t need any more makeup, ever, but I wanted to say that I signed up for both intimates and accessories on Black Friday and I have LOVED both, so much, so thanks for that recommendation.

In my intimates I got muk luk slippers, over-the-knee socks, and cute cute warm Jammies. In accessories I got a great ring, a stunning necklace, a very chic infinity scarf, and cute silver earrings. I’m just as thrilled with the two wantables as I am with klover….and actually I don’t see the need for any subs besides those 3. It’s all things you need and no filler or hit/miss like PSMH or FFF.

  6. I signed up with the Black Friday deal and loved the box I received. I got an Ofra primer, an eyebrow pencil that I swapped, a really awesome Tarina Taratino blush palette with gorgeous colors, and a Surratt lipgloss/lipstick. It was a little scary it looks orange-y/red, but I put it on and it’s super sheer and very pretty. I love that you could customize it vs. Boxycharm, but I still love Boxycharm. I’ll keep this for at least another month or two, I really liked my first box. Can’t wait to see what I get in January’s box!
