Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Box

Little Lace Box is a lifestyle subscription box for women. They’ve been around for only a few months so far – but I’ve been really impressed with the quality of their boxes so far. (Every month seems to be getting better and better too!)

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Theme

Each box comes with a letter detailing the theme of the month, and hints at the next month's box. For January, the theme is "The Dining Car," inspired by Downton Abbey.

The theme for the February box will be "The Lovers, the Dreamers, and Me" and will include "hidden gems for you and your home."

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Info

On the flipside of the letter each item included is detailed, complete with retail value.

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Tea Set

Siena Tea Collection Tea for One Set - Retail Value $30 (On Amazon for $24)

I couldn't imagine a Downton Abbey inspired box without something tea related, and I think this is a perfect item. (It's also one of Oprah's favorite things!)

Here's the set apart:

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Cup

I drink tea everyday, so this item is a win for me. (It also came with a saucer - I totally forgot to get a picture of it).

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Spoon

Beckman 1802 Authentic Hand Forged Britannia Fruit Spoon - Value $20

This spoon is made from a 18th century spoon mold that was found in the back of an abandoned shop on the grounds of the Beekman Mansion!

The detail work on it is beautiful:

And amazingly enough, it is dishwasher safe!

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Honey

Lucy B Roll On Perfume Oil in Royal Fig and Vanilla Woods - Value $19

Capital Bee Raw Hand Cut Holly Honeycomb - Value $7

(Subscribers will receive one of a variety of perfume scents). I like the scent of this perfume, and I may try swapping for some of the other scents.

And this honey goes perfectly with the tea theme!

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Book

How to Be a Lady by Candace Simpson-Giles - Value $17

It looks like this is a special edition cover made just for subscribers! Here is a look inside:

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Pages

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Beauty

Royal Apothic Bubble Cream - Value $20

This is a body wash cream - it creates a lather, but isn't the typical body wash gel. I like the somewhat subtle perfume scent of the Holland Park version, and the packaging is beautiful!

Little Lace Box Subscription Review – January 2015 Pins

Downton Abbey Hair Jewelry - Value $24

I didn't know there was a Downton Abbey jewelry line, but it makes so much sense! I think these hair pins are the right tough of jewelry/sparkle for this box, and they even mentioned in the letter than since they sent jewelry in the December box, they weren't going to overdo it with this box.

Verdict: I said the same thing with the November Little Lace box, but I don't know how they do it! This box has so much value, and you can also tell that so much thought and curation went into putting it together. This box has a value of about $131 - amazing for the $40 a month cost.

I'm really happy with the products this month, plus I've been binge-watching Downton Abbey this past week, so I'm all about the theme! What do you think of the January Little Lace Box?

Any news or thoughts on when we might be able to start a subscription? I realize they are sold out of the Feb box, but I’d like to sign up for March, at least. I’ve been obsessively going to their site to check, with no luck so far – obviously. 😀

last time they started it after the other boxes shipped. – It says on their site shipping is between feb 20-feb 23, i have not gotten any shipping notice yet. Have you emailed them? I missed the first 2 signups completely, then last month i managed to sign up in time, they sold out again very quickly.

Thanks so much for your response! 🙂 I’m considering emailing. i wish I could see some spoilers, though!! 😀

So I want to give you guys an update about the broken teapot situation- My tea pot and cup arrived fine but the saucer was broken, and when I told LLB they said they would replace the saucer. I just got an email with tracking info and they let me know that instead of just replacing the saucer they are sending me an entire new tea set.
I am so amazed and impressed right now.

I really enjoy my LLB subscription. This month is so fun. I received the amber perfume and love it. I started with November and I have enjoyed every single box. It’s like a good friend sending me a gift each month from the heart. I highly recommend this box to everyone I know.

I got my box today!!! Everything is PERFECT! I just love everything! I have been wanting a teapot forever. I drink tea a few times a day and I was really hope something tea related would be in this box. My teapot is light greyish color with lavender. My perfume is royal Egyptian Amber and honeysuckle which is PERFECT for me. I love it. Love the spoon and the book and everything! So excited about this box. I had canceled after my first box but when they revealed the theme for Jan I signed right back up and thank goodness I did because everyone is trying to sign up now. I can’t wait to see what next month will bring!

It was an enjoyable experience opening this box. I love all the little details that makes the theme work. This box made me smile 🙂

I received the same tea for one set as Liz. I saw the mint and lilac set which I think is gorgeous. This one works well since I am the only female in my house. It is perfect timing because I’ve been looking at tea for one sets at HomeGoods.

The packaging on the items are perfect for the theme. My perfume oil is the white lotus & Vanilla Musk which has a nice scent that I can smell throughout the day. The spoon is amazing and also has detailing on the back. The bubble cream has a wonderful scent 🙂 The hair pins are sparkly without being flashy. The book arrived at the right time. I’m enrolling my older son into a manners class for college interviews etc. I need to be brushed up on my manners too!

We love honey and was excited to see honey in the box. The boys saw it and wanted to eat the honeycomb right away. Perfect touch because it can be used in tea, on toast etc.

I’m impressed with the box and the theme. I think they have done a wonderful job with their boxes. I found the company to be responsive and helpful. I can’t wait to see the next box!

Here’s what I so love about LLB: even if there is something that’s not my cup of tea (see what I did there? I crack myself up), the items are always of such high quality, that I always have a stash of gifts ready to go. I adore this subscription, and even when I forgot to update my credit card, they saved a box for me… other subs just say, “too bad, so sad.” They worked with me to get a box to me this month until I could get my card updated (there was a problem with the site allowing me to update it). I don’t know how they do this and still make any money. I think they blow Pop sugar out of the water.

Wow, ladies jump on the mean wagon. Let’s keep in mind that this sub is only a few months old, and it’s my understanding that it was created by a couple of 20 something sisters. With that said, I think they are doing a fabulous job. Especially with costumer service, curation, cost, and the thought they put into their box.
With that said, I was on the waiting list for two months, January was my first box. I created an account on the LLB site, and commented in their reviews section, “Why are there annual sub available but I can’t I purchase a monthly sub?” (I was a bit annoyed)
To my surprise they emailed me, apologized and told me they could add me to the waiting list.
Then they told me, first they give their current monthy subscribers time to opt in or out, then they give customers a chance to purchase annual subs, if there are any leftover they email the alotted number of waitlist subs, until they’re gone, then they open up the system to the general public for the reserved public subs.

I hope I got that right…anyways its worth the wait, they are quick to respond to questions, and they seem to sincerely care about their customers. They blow the other subs I have out of the water……I’ve only gotten one box, but out of PSMH, BB, Ipsy,Julep & glossybox they win January! I mean you can see the love & thought they put into the curation, I cant say enough about how impressed I am. Plus, I received better customer service from them before I was a customer, then I ever have from any of my subs.

I’m soooo excited for the months to come!! (Especially February!)
Keep it up LLB!

Got my January box yesterday and I love it! I think the curation is fantastic and am so excited I signed up for a year. The reviews and comments on here are so helpful!

I got my box yesterday and still not my favorite box. But I’m not a tea drinker. The tea pot will make an excellent gift though. I would’ve selected different things for vintage glamour but that’s just me personally. I wish the hairpins had been a necklace or earrings, I rarely wear hair pins. The bubble cream is nice, love the packaging and smells amazing. I also really liked my perfume though I was hoping for the same Liz got. I got honeysuckle and amber and it’s really delicious, gorgeous packaging too. The honey is in a really nice glass container and while I don’t normally eat honey, I have been since I’ve been sick this week and it’s delicious. I just don’t get the fruit spoon. Spoons are not something I collect and seems too good for normal everyday use.

How did they do this box for the price? I’m in shock. It’s so beautifully put together and it’s obvious how much thought and care went into the curation. The spoon is so pretty and unique. The teapot set just adorable. The hair clips are gorgeous and perfect timing to be used in my rapidly unruly growing-out pixie cut. The scents are so pretty and nice formulations. And there’s no one who can’t benefit from a refresher on manners and graceful living. Well done LLB team!

Another win for me. LLB walks the line between beautiful and useful so well–the items they choose are never what I expect, but I always end up using them all. After seeing how hard it’s gotten to sign up for this, I’m extra grateful for whatever random hunch compelled me to sign up back in August. After 5 months, I’m always impressed and never bored.

Received my box today and again so impressed with the thought and products. Unfortunately my teapot also came broken so will have to email them. Wished I would have received the fig perfume but mine was musk. Can hardly wait to read the book.

Brooke

My teapot arrived broken as well 🙁 I emailed them as soon as I opened it though, and they emailed me back right away and said they would send a new one ASAP, so that’s nice! Other than that, I am in LOVE with this box!

Heather

My saucer for the teapot was broken. Within half an hour of emailing them I got 2 responses from different people at LLB. Both were super apologetic and immediately mailed out a replacement. Loving this box.

Angela

Love love love this box!!! I am so thrilled I got this sub!! I was seriously getting underwhelmed with tons of subs and finally someone pulled through. I am not a tea drinker but even w/o that it is an excellent box. So much thought behind it! Love

I received this box today and I think it is AMAZING. I’m so very impressed with the quality and curation of everything in it. Wow. Unfortunately my teapot arrived broken, which is a huge bummer since it is my favorite item in the box. I’ve emailed LLB to see if I can get a replacement. Crossing fingers. But still, I am really loving this box. (I loved last month’s too, using that day planner has seriously made me so much more productive!)

^^ update on broken teapot above. I emailed them and they were amazing about getting back to me in less than an hour. They have already shipped out a replacement! Awesome customer service. Hooray for LLB.

I had the same issue! I emailed them as well and they got back to me SO fast and offered to ship me a replacement which was very appreciated. They may have some ordering hiccups to work out but overall I’m very impressed!

Got February’s box for $14.49 by applying points earned by reviewing November’s box. Such a good deal!

mbh

Hi Jen,
Can I ask how you do this?? Do you have a recurring subscription? Or did you un/resubscribe to use the points? I would love to be able to apply the review points I’ve accumulated to future monthly boxes! (currently I have the regular recurring monthly sub).

Thanks for the help!

Reply ButtonReply

Helen

Yes, I’m intrigued too. This will be my first box so I can’t be certain how the points system works.
I read that it’s 50 points, equal to $1, per item reviewed.
You got over $25 off after one month?

Kim

WOW!! I have had at least 40 emails from people looking to do swaps!

How can one be confused about how to use a spoon??? lol We have an ongoing joke about a fancy pants friend and her antique berry spoons which we’ve heard oh so much about…they’re antique from England…said braggart is 50 and lives with her parents(rolleyes) So you can only imagine my absolute glee when I opened this…not quite as posh as sterling and it didn’t specify berries, just fruit…but ooh the amusement, laughter and delight to know that I too now own a berry spoon. You must say it with a proper English accent. It just sounds like money. Old money. Berry spoon.
Now as for the book…offensive? What I find offensive is the lack of manners in our society of late. When the day comes I actually receive RSVPs for a party then perhaps I’ll get on the offensive bandwagon. My daughter, while possessing proper manners can be rather piggish shall we say around family. This arrived just in time to slip into her gift bag which she opened after she belched her way through her birthday dinner. Well done LLB.
Lastly I must second that I truly do appreciate the un-inflated values. I want a bit of luxury but nothing obscene please…for that I’ll go into it eyes open when I bend over.

This was one of if not the best lifestyle sub box I’ve ever gotten (and I’ve subbed to them all at some point). The curation is thoughtful, the value is reasonable (not overinflated), the items full size and from brands that are mostly new to me. I didn’t adore last month since I’m not a paper planner person but it was still well done overall. My teapot is in lavender and pale mint, a lovely color combo. I’ve wanted a one serving set like this for ages and almost bought one a week ago. The spoon is beautiful and feels very high end. The cleanser has a nice scent and good lather. The perfume oil is fabulous. Who knew green figs smelled so good? I’m enjoying e book and plan to share it with my girls as well. I don’t find it insulting at all like some appeared to be, since everyone can use a little reminder or some pointers here and there. And the honey was coincidentally perfectly timed since I used up the last of my jar from Mantry this morning. The variety was wonderful this month as was the quantity/quality ratio. While I don’t usually use hair clips this set is beautiful enough that I might give them a try, which for me is the reason I sub to mystery boxes, to expand my product horizons and try new things I might not have otherwise found. I like that they’re staying small. Most monthly startup subs flounder when they get too big too fast. From a business perspective it is a wise decision to pace their expansion. Could the wait list process be better managed? sure. Hopefully feedback will have an impact soon on that point. Constructive feedback is very helpful that way. I say good job ladies and keep up the good work.

For those confused about how to use one spoon, just treat it like a regular serving spoon versus an individual teaspoon (which it’s not in any event). It would look lovely on any table IMO.

I think that spoon is perfect to use it with clotted cream and jams. It seems very royal to me and classy. I can’t wait for my box to get here….
