chococurb-dec-

Chococurb is a monthly chocolate delivery box. They aim to help you find quality chocolate and discover new treats (which you can then purchase in their online store).

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

TCHO “Mokaccino” Bar – 2 oz, value: $5.95

Alma Chocolate Dark Salty Nutty Toffee Bar - $4.50

I’ve tried chocolates from TCHO before, and I’m a big fan. This Mokaccino bar really tastes like a mocha.

I’m not fond of pistachios, so this Nutty Toffee bar was passed onto my mom (who really liked it!).

Theo Chocolate Coconut Mint Milk Holiday Bar – 2 oz, value: $4

Tisano Vanilla Cacao Tea - $3.95

Coconut can be a hit or miss for me, but this Coconut Mint Milk Chocolate bar was surprisingly good! The coconut is shredded finely so it’s more subtle and the chocolate is really creamy.

I have yet to try a “dessert tea” like this vanilla cacao tea. It sounds interesting, so I guess we’ll see if I like it!

chococurb-dec-marou

Marou Chocolate Tien Giang Bar – value: $9

Pacari Chocolate Salt and Nibs Chocolate Bar – 10 g, value: $.20

Dolcetta Artisan Sweets Black and Tan Bar – 1.2 oz, value: $4

This Marou Chocolate bar is from Vietnam, and is described as having a combination of spice, tobacco, and nutty flavors. I’m not sure I’ve ever had any chocolate like that before (which is pretty much the point of the box), so I’m curious to try it, but haven’t yet.

The Pacari sample is dark chocolate with pink salt and cacao nibs. I like it – the pink salt adds an interesting flavor!

This Dolcetta bar is my favorite new discovery in this whole box! It’s called a “black and tan” bar because the bottom layer of the bar is really dark chocolate and the top layer is caramelized white chocolate.

Verdict: I love chocolate and I really enjoyed this Chococurb box! I like the variety of flavors and textures, and I’m happy to have discovered some interesting, new treats! As far as value goes, everything adds up to $31.60. Considering I probably would never have found some of these chocolates without this box, I’m pretty happy with that value!

What do you think about Chococurb?

These looks wonderful but there’s no way i can pay $30+ a month just for chocolate.

Not only is the box expensive, but the value of the items within is lower than the cost of the box. How can you be happy with that? Given that this is effective marketing of their products, and that we take the risk of not liking everything that comes, I generally expect value to be higher than cost.

I do think this is way too expensive, but man all of that sounds good!

Love the idea, but I will prefer it more as a trimester or quarter service. Is not about the value vs contents, as another person metioned is too much money and too many calories in a monthly basis. I would either like an option of a quarter box or a smaller box (2 bars for $12.00). However, Im not sure they ship to PR maybe Im not in their market.

Haley – I think the Theo is 3 ounces. The only reason I noticed is because I buy Theo bars and have not seen this one in the store. I was looking at it closely thinking it must taste yummy.

The Dolcetta bar sounds amazing. I poked around the website and am surprised to see pictures along with biographies of the people running the company. I think this is a nice touch because not many boxes do that. I noticed that in the FAQ it was not explained how they ship chocolate in the summer.

I like the concept of this box, and the fact that I have only had 1 brand of the chocolate included. I love discovering new brands, especially those that make edible goodies. However, the price is too steep for my liking.

I also can’t justify the expense (and I don’t need the calories). But…chocolate teas are, in general, awesome. I’ve tried just about every one there is to try from my local Whole Foods.

As much as I love chocolate, which is a LOT I couldn’t justify $37 dollars for chocolate. I could go to a nice chocolatier on the plaza and get amazing chocolates for less money. But I also bought 2 subscriptions to Orange Glad with the black Friday sale, I’m good on candy for a while.
