Time to Start Shopping Swaps For Free Holiday Gifts!

I always start my holiday shopping early, and I think the best way to shop is from the comfort of your own home for "free" items! I've been browsing swaps looking for gift ideas for everyone on my list, and I wanted to share some great gifts ideas I've come across.

*When I say "free" I mean I don't pay anything for the items - the only cost is sending swap items I don't personally have a use for. (One of the great perks of being a subscription addict is never having to actually buy gifts, right?)

How long does it take to get off the swap wait list. I have several items I wish to swap and things I like. I visit this site several times a day. just curious.

I started to swap just a couple of weeks ago, and thus far my experience has been really positive- I got to pass on something I won’t use, and received something I would!! Thank you for providing this platform, I have been a fan of your blog as well!

Liz, I have a swap question for you. I requested a swap about a month ago. The person accepted a few days later. I sent my address, they never sent theirs. I sent them multiple messages through the swap site requesting their address. I eventually tried to cancel the swap, but the other person never agreed to the cancel. It’s now been over a month–I haven’t received my items, and I never had her address to send her items. Is there a way for you to cancel a swap internally? I just want to be able to re-list my items, as they’re somewhat high-value items (two full-size items–one makeup, one skincare). Thanks!

The same thing has happened to me. So annoying! If you email Liz directly I’m sure she’ll help you out 🙂

Thanks Liz, I’m on it! I have two boxes full of gifts ready for Christmas.
The wonderful thing is, that I wouldn’t have thought of buying most of these items myself. But when they pop up on your swap site, I know just who would love them and start swapping!
I believe that my gift spending has dropped significantly since discovering your swap site. Plus I have no qualms about signing up for yet another subscription – I can always swap the things that aren’t quite ‘me’.

When people ad stuff up to swap, I really wish that if a safety seal is half on, and it has been either smelled, or tested swappers would mention it. To many times to count, I’ve gotten items in swaps wheree people pull back 1/2 the saftey seal to either smell or test, and still consider the item as new – THIS IS BAD FOR GIFT GIVING – Even if the item is not used, If I give someone an item with the safety seal 1/2 pealed back, it looks used to them and it makes me look like I gave a used product! – NOT GOOD! – If you are listing an item where the saftey seal is not 100% intact and has been pealed back a little PLEASE mention it in a listing. – I don’t mind if the item is for me, Yet I can not give these items as gifts, it looks tacky on part.

I totally agree! I have gotten ‘new’ items claimed unopened but you can actually see that they were used. Even using them a tiny bit to try means that they are used. 🙁

It’s a shame that you have to bring this up. This goes without saying.
Thanks for mentioning.

Liz: Thank you for the ideas: I started swaps last month for Christmas gifts. I’m also saving a bunch of stuff from boxes for Christmas. So I’ll just have to pick through it for gifts this year. As expensive as my box habit might be, it saves me $’s from buying gifts throughout the year. That is why I normally stick with the best value boxes
