Birchbox Review – October 2014
Birchbox is one of the original beauty subscription boxes, and one of my personal favorites. (I’ve discovered so many new brands through this subscription, and their rewards program is the best!)
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Subscription Box: Birchbox
The Cost: $10 a month (get one month free and $10 to spend in the shop with an annual subscription!)
COUPON: Use coupon code BENEFITPACK when you sign up for a monthly Birchbox subscription ($10 a month) and get two bonus Benefit samples with your first box!
The Products: Beauty and lifestyle samples selected by the Birchbox team.
Each box comes with a card detailing the items included and some tips on how to use them.
Jouer Matte Moisture Tint Sunscreen in Nude – 5 ml Value $3.80
Lord & Berry Pailettes Glitter Eye Pencil in Black – .4 g Value $4.50
I’m always a little bummed when I need to bust out the quarter for a photo because that means tiny samples! This nude shade of the tinted sunscreen works perfectly for my skin tone, and I always need matte-finish makeup products, so I’ll use this.
The Lord & Berry Pailettes Glitter Eye Pencil is the item I picked for this month. (My time-to-pick-your-sample email didn’t show up for a while and by the time it did this was the only item left). There wasn’t any particular sample I was dying to get this month though, so I don’t mind. And as someone who complains about getting too many black or brown eyeliners, it’s definitely a change up to get one with built in glitter! This is definitely not an everyday look eyeliner, so I think this little pencil is all I will need!
Borghese Fango Clay Cleanser – 1 oz Value $8.50
Harvey Prince Petaly Nior – Sample Value $1
This Borghese cleanser is a good size (about 1/3 the full size version) and it’s a practical item so it will be used! I’m never a fan of getting perfume in my Birchboxes, but this one isn’t that bad. (Birchbox loves sending out Harvey Prince perfumes!)
Essential Elements Shower Gel – 45 ml Value $3.50
This is one of my favorite items in the box – it has such a minty/refreshing scent!
Verdict: Lately I’ve been so used to getting full size and deluxe sized items in my Birchboxes that this box feels like a little bit of a let down. This box has a value of about $21, which is more than double the cost, and I’ll review the items on Birchbox for another 50 points ($5) so I really can’t complain. I hope the November box is amazing though!
