There will also be a guest editor box option as an alternative to picking a sample.
All Birchbox subscribers will get an email with access to pick their sample on 10/28. If you are a Birchbox Ace, or if you've referred a friend by 10/24, you will get access one day early on 10/27.
What do you think of the sample picks? I'm debating between the Juice Beauty Peel or the Royal Apothic Mask, but I may change my mind once I see what the guest editor box is this month!

I had that Juice Beauty peel in a kit I purchased from them and I honestly can’t say as that I noticed it did anything to my face. I think I want to try to mask…unless the other box is just awesome.

I’m also debating between the peel and the hair mask – but I also would like to see what the guest editor puts together!

I am still waiting on my October box to be shipped. Birchbox ran out of Cynthia Rowley promotional item from last month I purchased. This makes me wonder if I will receive my choice item or just what is left at this point. I like the options so far this month- hopefully my luck will be better in November.

Thank you everyone who answered my questions about points when selected a PYS that you have reviewed before. I’m in the long, very thick hair group. I still might pick the hair mask because I can always use it on the ends. I like the choices this month.
Love my lipstick from last month’s samples.

I like Juice Beauty but as far as the face mask goes the tea treatment mask I have heard great things about! I was looking at it a few days ago and its sold out but is more expensive at almost $60!
I want both face masks!
I prefer skincare or make up specifically over hair care. I also have long but extremely thick hair. When I go get my hair cut a few inches, they always comment over how nice and super thick my hair is!!!!! Well it is hard work andgets annoying, lol. My hubby likes it though and wont let me cut it. lol
I actually think I will probably take the guest editor box if I have the choice and I don’t have the problem like last month.
I actually love skin care, face cleansers, exfoliators, masks, etc but really like trying new face cleansers more then anything and not receiving the laggies box as Irequested I received the Suki, 2 use sample I have tried before and loved it but they wont do anything about it, they are out of Vasanti so I heard there customer service is good but I guess not always. The reviews on the Vasanti is great and I love things that say and work for “brightening” hope I will have the chance to try it before I have to just go ahead and purchase. Plus the Vasanti cleanser appeared to be a really decent sample size.

I always get a lot of skin and hair care items. What answers does anyone have on their profile to get more makeup items?

I actually sent in a complaint last month b/c the “customization” only benefits Aces and people hitting “refresh” on email all day. They sell out immediate, as do the bonus offer (sorry, would have cashed over 40 bucks for a bangle, glad that sold out.) I am neutral on all of these, being similar skincare items. I’ve been very frustrated the 2-3 times I get to the email after work and everything is sold out. I hope they heard the public and have lots in stock. 🙂 Come on birchbox, you can do it!!

Thanks for sharing! I really want the hair mask, but I’m excited to see what the guest editor box will be for November. I didn’t even pick a sample last month and ended up getting one of the PYS options anyway along with a Beautyblender, best month yet!!

Can anyone suggest who I contact so I receive the email to select a sample? I’ve received 4 or 5 months (this time around) and have never received an email offering a choice. Thanks in advance.

Go into your account and check your e-mail preferences. Though I don’t remember doing so, I had apparently opted out of all communications from them. Once I fixed that, I started getting the sample choice e-mails (as well as promo codes, info on limited edition sets, etc.).
I think the guest editor may be from the new Laggies movie? I saw this on hellogiggles.com’s facebook page:
“There’s really nothing more exciting than tackling a new challenge in life. And BIRCHBOX wants to help you to put your best self forward and embrace the unexpected.
That’s why they’ve partnered with the new feature film Laggies Movie (starring Keira Knightley and Chloë Grace Moretz) on this month’s box of top-notch beauty goodies. Subscribe now and get your Laggies box by entering LAGGIES at checkout. Have a peek at all the awesome products you’ll receive!”
I don’t subscribe to Birchbox (I’m thinking about it though!), but thought you might be interested in this 🙂

The Laggies box was a choice last month – I picked it and loved it!

I received my Gourmet Body Treats box yesterday and one of the items is a GBT tea mask. My sister and I both tried it out last night and loved it. She is going to pick the Tea Treatment Mask for her sample. I would pick the tea mask, but now I have a full size tea mask container from GBT and the Fig & Yarrow clay mask. I’m torn between the hair mask and the body wash. I received the body wash before and loved it. It’s also the perfect size for traveling. I read up on the JB sensitive peel and it’s a mixture of reviews. I’m concern it may be too harsh for me.
Are we permitted to review the same sample again if it is a PYS? Or more accurately, will we receive points if we already did in a previous month?

You do receive points for re-reviewing – a couple of the items in the Laggies box were repeats for me, but I still got points for reviewing them.

That is a good question (re: reviewing samples if you’ve gotten them before). It’s why I didn’t pick the Laggies box for this month — I’d received like three of the samples before and was afraid I wouldn’t be allowed to review them for points.

I picked the Laggies box, even though I had already had 4 out of the 5 items. I still got points for reviewing them again! I didnt think about it until after I picked it, but I loved all the items, especially the Vasanti scrub.

This is one of the few subs I’m keeping because it’s cheap and I can use the points to buy stuff I need (I regularly quit and resubscribe with 100 point codes). I am not sure which to pick as I’d probably be happy with any of them. Although I think I may stay away from the hair mask because Birchbox hair samples are always too small for me (I have long, thick hair).

Question for you, Sneaky: when you cancel and resubscribe, are your points from the previous subscription still there, or do you start back at zero every month?

It’s like Jennifer says.
You keep Aces status, too, and the 100 point codes are good towards earning Aces status.
What I do is wait for my box to come, review the samples, then quit. Then immediately resubscribe (there’s a Birchbox Promo Codes thread on Make Up Talk that lists recent/current 100 point codes). That way my payment gets taken when I expect (upon resubscription) and I still get the pick-your-sample e-mails.
I get at least 160 points per month this way. 100 for the code, 10 for signing up for a monthly subscription, and 50 (or more) for reviewing products.
Jennifer
Yep, points remain untouched. It’s like you start again where you left off. I’ve racked up a crazy amount of points doing this.

I think the apple peel sounds best but I’m curious what the other box option will be I’m leaning towards just being surprised this time around

I would be happy with any of those samples! I am glad I don’t have to worry about which ones will be available this month 🙂

I couldn’t be more excited about these options! Is it bad that I want three of the four? 🙂 I think I may end up going with the Juice peel – I have heard so many great things about their line and I think this may be a great opportunity to try it. I’m crossing my fingers for some great deals online following the November box so that I can scoop up the other products at an affordable price!
