Each box comes with a card detailing the items included.

The box also came with this cute postcard.

Now on to the actual items!

French Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Lip Liner

Sothys Lip Pencil in #3 Naturel – FULL SIZE! Value $16

This is the one item not listed on the card, so I’m guessing it may vary box-to-box.

French Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Lipstick

Sothys Hydra-Glide Liptsick in #20 Brun chaud – FULL SIZE! Value $25

Caudalie Makeup Remover Cleansing Water – 30 ml Value $4

This lipstick is a little on the dark side (and orange side) for me, but I’ll definitely use the makeup remover.

French Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Gummies

BuddyFruits Fruit Bites – Value $1.50

Missiu Eiffel Tower Bracelet – Value $12

I get way too excited about gummies made with natural ingredients – these were gone in a minute!

Here’s a better look at the bracelet:

French Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Bracelet

This is the only item in the box that doesn’t feel Paris chic to me.

French Box Subscription Review - September 2014 Tote

Whispering Angel Wine Bag – Value $15

I love this wine tote! Now if only I could order Whispering Angel wine online!

Verdict: I paid $17 for this box (I bought a year subscription at the discount they were offering upfront). I received over $70 worth of items – a great value for a first box! I was pretty nervous about buying a full year subscription without seeing a box first, but now I can relax! Plus the packaging of this box is so fantastic – it feels like opening a gift.

What do you think of the first French Box? Did you get different variations than my box?

  1. My October box was delivered today. I’m on my way home from a business trip and can’t wait to tear into it!

Loved the style and value of the first box, even though the makeup items were not good options/ colors for me (got the eye pencil and dark polish; would have preferred the lipstick/lip pencil). The contents of the second box will determine whether this sub is a keeper or not.

    • Please share deets!!!

    • October FrenchBox Spoiler Alert!!!

An interesting mix in my October Box and I personally really like the curation on this one. Almost everything is full-size.
The theme is The Warmth of Provence.
      My box includes:
      – A colorful card containing a Provencal proverb
      – Full-size bag (3.5 oz.)of delicious-smelling Herbs de Provence
      – A recipe card with recipes for provencal dips
      – Full-size Matis powder brush.
      – Full-size Durance Savon de Marseille soap in lovely packaging plus a coupon code for 15% off any Durance purchase
      – Sample bag with an assortment of 4 mini Calissons (a type of sweet treat)
= A package filled with 3 individually wrapped Oshibori refreshing towels, infused with green tea extract. Love these – perfect for tucking in my purse or briefcase
      – Sample vial of Atelier cologne

The items above were all pictured and described on the insert that discusses the theme of the box. The listed values total $41.39
But there’s more! My box also contained:
      – a small notebook with a fashion sketch by Christian LaCroix on the cover and
      – A full-size Sothy’s mascara

The mascara is worth approx $18-20, so the total value of this box was more than $60.

      • I got what you did except for the mascara. I got a cream eye shadow in some very dark color.

  2. Received my tracking number for my October box!!!

  3. They posted on Facebook they are aiming to ship on the 13th and tracking emails will be in our inbox on Monday! I wonder if my tracking will update on this box because it did not on the first box causing me to wonder if I will receive one until it showed up right on time.

  4. I checked their Facebook page and it says that the boxes are shipping soon. The spoiler is “a warm region of France”. Can’t wait.

  5. Got my box yesterday love everything, the only thing is that I had the yellow bracelet and yellow is my least fave color, so if anyone want to swap or switch please let me know :

I got the orange fruits, delicious. Fushia nail color plain beautiful. The anti-wrinkle cream, my pencil is a dark brown, love as I didnt have one πŸ™‚

Cant wait for the next one. My birthday month.

  6. I liked my box, I received a lip liner and lipstick and thankfully they work for my skin tone. I put the bracelet (ugh, neon yellow) and wine tote (nice but I just won’t use it) up for swap. I think they did well considering it was the first box, I’ll give it three months total before a make up my mind.
