Big thanks to Leisha for photographing the first Rosario Dawson Quarterly box to share with us! (I immediately signed up for a subscription after seeing these pictures!)

This isn't a typical My Subscription Addiction review, but instead a post showing exactly what was in the first Rosario Dawson Quarterly box. ($50 a month).

First up here is the letter detailing the items:

What do you think of box #18901? I think this box looks so unique and you can tell Rosario put so much thought and effort into the curation. I hope the second box is just as great! Thank you again Leisha for taking the time to photograph everything to share with us!

I received the box today and was really, really impressed. First of all, I loved the vibe, this is what a late summer box should feel like (yes, I am looking at you, Nina Garcia!). Both bag (in my favourite colour combo, perfect as my new gym bag) and bandana are quite well made, and I am happy that I finally get to try Kiehl’s skincare, which is quite pricey over here in Europe.

I did not find the carabiner either, but I am relieved that I am not the only one;)

Does anybody recognize the signature of the co-star? (I hesitated to ask the question, but curiosity prevailed;)

Hi Simone,

we’re happy you liked Rosario’s box and are enjoying all the items. In regards to the carabiner, Quarterly’s fulfillment center unfortunately missed placing it into some of the boxes that went out. We passed on all the feedback we received to Quarterly and they have since changed fulfillment centers to improve customer service.

We will receive the “left over carabiners” from the fulfillment center soon and Studio One Eighty Nine would be happy to mail it to you from our end, as Rosario has put a lot of effort into the box and we would like for everyone to get “all of the Burning Man essentials”.

Feel free to e-mail me your address and I shall take care of this as soon as I have them in my hands. [email protected]

Thank you again for your kind words.

Ann

PS: The signature is Jessica Alba’s 🙂
PPS: The next box will be even better…31 items for the Holidays…

This is a very cool box, makes me want to go to burning man. I wish I had got it. I wonder what the next theme is.

Hi Trinity,

You should absolutely go to Burning Man! It is the best escape….well in my opinion…no phones, no internet, lots of art and wonderful people!

And to answer your question, the next box, which ships in November is all about Rosario’s holiday top five: travel, helping people, family, fun, and food, as well as raising funds to buy water filters for Africa. Here’s an article with a bit more info: http://www.whosay.com/articles/4538-rosario-dawson-wants-to-help-you-holiday-shop-for-a-good-cause

See you at Burning Man next year 😉

Ann

PS: I believe Quarterly may have one or two of Rosario’s boxes left to purchase on their site in the “best of section”

This box beats the tar out of the first Brittney Palmer Quarterly box! I emailed Quarterly and they emailed me back a paid return label to send the whole thing back for a full refund, shipping and all.
It had four items in it. A beach towel, that a quick Google search found for $19.99, a cheap beer koozie with Brittney on it, a poorly made plastic drink mixing tumbler with Brittneys lip print on it and a pair of completely plastic sunglasses that I could find for better at Target for under $10. Total disappointment, especially after we have been so spoiled by the Nina Garcia box!

Hi Stacey,

Thanks! We appreciate it…Rosario put a lot of effort and love into it…now onto the next one! We’ll try and keep getting better and better.

I am really not the demographic for this box as I am over 50 but I signed u0 for the next one. You can tell that Rosario Dawson put a lot of work into this box but more importantly, I love that she is using her fame to do so much good in the world. She is a great role model for young girls.

Love it, with all of the fancy and quarterly boxes , to get a look inside would have to become a shared effort! Thanks for the post, dear reader:)

Liz, with all the Quarterly boxes out there you should post more reader reviews. That would be cool

I thought this box was going to be great, and I still like the enthusiasm and spirit behind this box, but gee, I’m afraid I cannot say I loved this box and will be putting a bunch of it up for swaps. First, it was really poorly packaged. The box was squashed, so the poster (rolled up) was squashed. The inside of box was filled with crinkled paper shreds, and it was very hard to find some of the very small items. There’s supposed to be a carabiner in the box, but I never found it. Doesn’t look like Leisha found it either! Let’s see how responsive customer service is!

On the good side: I like the bandana with the batiked stars. Very cool. All the Kiehls skin care — I think these alone justify the cost of the box, but just barely. The little bottle with message inside is cute.

But majority was on the “huh?” side:
I’m too old for posters, and even in college I would not have put up a sexy celebrity poster even if it is signed. I need a kid brother to give it to.
The glass beads are cool, but I wish there was some ideas / instructions / materials list on how to actually make something with it. Just stringing it up on thread isn’t going to look very professional.
Same with the glow in the dark thread. Neat idea, but I’ve been searching the web for interesting ideas of what to do with it, and I’m just not going to start a cross-stitch project right now!
I don’t get the lanyard.
The other textile piece of fabric – again, wish there were some ideas of what to do with it. Orange is not my color, so it’s not going to go on my head.
The batik bag – it’s ok. It’s rather floppy with little structure, no extra pockets, so it’s not going to work well for a gym bag for me. So I’m wondering what I will use it for.
Little flashing light – neato for a party maybe but nothing really special.
Pinhole glasses – what do I do with these?

I’ll give this box one more chance just because!

I read the spoilers on MUT, but was unaware of the theme. I’m impressed with her first box and thought she did a great job with the Burning Man theme. I’ve read about Burning Man and it’s interesting to be able to read the cards and learn why she included each item.

This does fit into the Burning Man theme. I can see most of items used in the dessert. Boy, that’s going to be one crazy event!!

This is a very cool subscription box, and not at all what I expected. I am sorry I missed this one, but I don’t believe the box sold out so maybe it will be on the Best of Quarterly at some point. If not, will definitely be getting the next box. This seems like one of the Quarterly boxes that actually has value and thoughtful curation! YAY!
