Birchbox Limited Edition CEW Prestige Headliners Box Review - August 2014

I bought both of the CEW Limited Edition boxes the night they launched, and one of the perks of living on the east coast means super fast shipping from Birchbox! This review is of the Prestige Headliners Box (of course I opened this one first!) and I'll have a review of the Mass Appeal box up soon!

Birchbox Limited Edition CEW Prestige Headliners Box Review First Look

Like usual, the packaging of these boxes is great. Each box comes with a card  with details on the CEW and each item included.

Birchbox Limited Edition CEW Prestige Headliners Box Review Items

The Box: Birchbox for CEW Limited Edition Prestige Headliners Box

The Cost: $18

The Products: 5 beauty products from the CEW Insiders' Choice Beauty Awards, plus two lifestyle extras.

Birchbox Limited Edition CEW Prestige Headliners Box Review 100% Pure

100% Pure Creamy Nail Polish in Velouria - FULL SIZE! Value $12

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Light - 5 ml Value $5

I love the 100% Pure brand, and I wanted to try their new nail polish line, so I was thrilled to see this item was included in the box. (Colors may vary per box with this polish).

I've sampled the original Josie Maran Argan oil before and I like it, but I hadn't tried the light version yet. I tried it on my cuticles, and couldn't really tell a difference from the original version, but from reading the reviews on Sephora, I think the lighter version really makes a difference as a face oil and hair oil.

Birchbox Limited Edition CEW Prestige Headliners Box Review Coola

Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Creme - 2 oz Value $10

COOLA Environmental Repair Plus Radical Recovery After-Sun Lotion - 15 ml Value $2.60

I don't think I've ever bought this Fekkai creme in full-size because the sample sizes are always so generous! I would have preferred this COOLA lotion sample to be a little larger though. I love the scent and the formula so I'll probably end up buying it in full size.

Birchbox Limited Edition CEW Prestige Headliners Box Review Mirror

Philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight - 12 ml Value $13.60

I'm happy to see more and more Philosophy products being formulated without parabens, phthalates, and sulfates! I should be able to get a week or two out of this sample too - it's about a quarter of the size of the full-sized version. (And Birchbox included some bonus "lifestyle extras" = toe separators and a pocket mirror).

Verdict: I paid about $12.50 for this box after discounts from buying both CEW boxes and using the MOBILE20 coupon code. This box has about $44 worth of items, so I'm thrilled with the value. And with the exception of the COOLA lotion, I think everything is pretty generously sized and will give you enough uses to determine if you really the product.

What do you think of the CEW Prestige Headliners box?

I have heard of these brands all of them and have none from sample boxes. I was close to ordering this one but went for the mass appeal using points and was so close to having enough to get both but needed $2 and did not have the funds. Financially a bad month. Thinking about it I really only wanted philosophy but would love to try all of these brands. I have been close to buying Josie Marian from qvc and philosophy. I do not need any more hair care or toe nail seperators so I am okay with not getting it. (I guess) I really wanted the cute birch box mirror! 🙂

That being said I am super happy to order the mass appeal box. I love all things lips and both look great especially Burts Bees. I will be happy to get a new mascara. Body wash is great and Dove is a great brand but I am unsure of the scent. The moisturizer also looks great. I already have the Tresseme frizz treatment. I have always liked that brand so that will be a bonus for me. I do think my choice was well made but kinda sad about not getting this; so I hope it will continue to be available for another month or so. 🙂

The mirror is pretty cheap-looking in person. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen those machines people buy to make buttons with customized pictures, but the mirror looks like it came out of one of those (my mom had one and you could do magnets and mirrors, too — just pull this big lever down and press the whole thing together).

I tried the Philosophy sample a few nights ago and could not stand the smell. I had to wash it off my face. Did anyone else experience a negative reaction to the smell?

I woulda got this box, but I didnt want that nail polish or the fekkai goop. I did get the other box though, along with the free 2 item sample pack (a pixi lippy and a perfume sample), and I added gimme brow to my order to hit $50 and get free shipping, then added on all of the coupon codes & points and only paid $9

I liked the mass appeal box better too! The products are much larger and I will use the products more. Definitely recommend it!

I wasn’t going to get this box, but I caved after seeing your review. This box looks great. I really want the Josie Maran Argan oil so I went for it. I had 100 points so I was able to get the box for $8 shipped. Just too good to pass up.

I definitely loved the mass appeal box better. This box has some good items, but nothing I’m really excited about.

How was this box shipped? My Sephora that was “delivered” UPS yesterday at my house was missing. So I want to order these today but want to ship to my work if it is UPS.

It shipped via USPS – no UPS! 🙂

Glad to see that the products actually fill the box up nicely. My last box could have used a mini envelope to send my teeny tiny samples.

I have SO MANY toe separators. And I never use them.

I like the idea of 100% Pure but their products never seem to work for me (have tried a face cleanser and a mascara so far).
