Cypress & Fifth Clothing Subscription Box Review - June

Cypress and 5th is a brand new women’s clothing subscription service. Each month their stylists put together a “dressing room” for you in your account based on your style, and you get to select 2-3 pieces (one top, bottom, and accessory or one dress and accessory).

Cypress and 5th kindly sent me this package to review.

Cypress & Fifth Clothing Subscription Box Review - June 2014 Dress

Flying Tomato Maxi Dress - Value $48?

I'm guessing on the value of this dress since I couldn't find the exact one online, but I think the one I linked to is pretty similar.

Cypress & Fifth Clothing Subscription Box Review - June 2014 Detail

If you read this blog frequently then you may know that I am a big fan of maxi dresses - so I was very happy about this selection. (Cypress & 5th surprised me with two items this month instead of me picking them out). I'm familiar with the Flying Tomato since working at ModCloth, so I know the quality of this piece is good and it will hold up in the laundry!

Cypress & Fifth Clothing Subscription Box Review - June 2014 Necklace

Multi Colored Necklace - Value $20?

I don't think I'll wear this necklace with the maxi (even though it sort of matches), I think that would be a little too much color for me in one look, but I'll pair this with more basic outfits.

Verdict: Based on my estimates I'd say this box has a value of about $68 - a little lower than the $74.95 a month cost. That being said, I don't have the actual prices on these items, so I could be a little off too. The other thing to keep in mind with this subscription is that if you don't like the items in your dressing room you can skip that month.

Have you tried Cypress & 5th? What do you think of the service?

I was tempted to get this dress when I saw it in my dressing room. It’s lovely! The price tag was just a little high since I didn’t know if it would fit perfectly or not. It would be great to have the clothing brand listed in item description too since some brands fit differently.

I’ve had 2 great experiences so far ordering from C&5th. I don’t always like all the pieces in my dressing room but there’s been something that hits me right and I’ve been pleased with the quality of the clothes and their customer service (there was a website issue once telling me a top I wanted wasn’t available when in fact it was, and they were very prompt in dealing with it). I hope they do well with their service, I like what they have to offer. 🙂

Thanks Liz for posting this review! I am glad you liked the dress and the necklace. The clothing pieces that you receive are the same as what you would find regular priced at your local boutique. We pull current trends and styles of the season to put in Dressing Rooms. Dresses usually range from $69-$84 and necklaces from $18-32 in local boutiques. Please also take into account that we do not pre-charge for our service and shipping to and exchange shipping is included in the monthly fee.

I know that sometimes it seems like a large sum to part with at once but please remember that the combination you pick range from $87-$116 before shipping.

We do try our best to work with our members and if there are any ever questions, please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or on our connect page.

I agree with Jillian. I subscribed for May based upon this blog, however was underwhelmed at the choices. I asked for a second dressing room and they kindly gave me one.

However the item I bought was somewhat misrepresented (shown with belt but didn’t ship with one), and also the fact that they cut out the parts of the mannequin kept me from knowing it was a mid-thigh dress.

There was also a website snafu with ordering. They wrote an apologetic email, which I appreciate, but I’m just not a fan. I will stay with StitchFix.

Hi Jenny

We are sorry that you felt that you did not get the full description of the item you chose. We do supply description, length, size (if needed) and material makeup for all the items. They can be see about the scroll when you move over the item.

Also, we are updating our website constantly when new issues arrive that we did not account for. Please do not give up on us just yet.

I’ve been having them put together dressing rooms for me for several months now, but I have yet to buy anything. In fact, the first month I asked them to create me a second dressing room because the only bottoms in it were jeggings and very tight, skinny pants and I am not a fan. I was informed that they ONLY had that style of pant. I also noticed that most of the clothes are synthetic, which is another turn off for me. I can find a top I *kind of* like, but I have yet to find a bottom and for $75 I want the extra pieces. I just haven’t been impressed. I think their style is really specific to one aesthetic. I prefer Golden Tote.

Hi Jillian

We are glad that you have been checking out your Dressing Room and are sorry that you have not found anything you like. We do try out best to offer a great selection of clothing. We do now offer a Top/Top option if you cannot find a bottom to pick from.

We offer the same brands as other companies and boutique stores. Remember, your Dressing Room is always at no cost and you only pay when you want to purchase.

Thank you for your comment!
