Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review & Coupon - May 2014 Juice Beauty

Hugo Naturals Handcrafted Soap in Vanilla & Sweet Orange - Value $4

Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Hand Creme - Value $12

I've received both of these items before from subscription boxes and I love them! (I pretty much love anything Juice Beauty!)

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review & Coupon - May 2014 Sponge

California Poppies Kit - Value $7

Premium Sea Sponge - Value $8

According to the guide in this poppy kit, I need to plant these seeds in early Spring - I guess I'll wait til next year! (Assuming seeds can wait a year? I'm very, very new to gardening).

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review & Coupon - May 2014 Ips

Caliwater Cactus Water - Value $3.50

IPS Egg White Chips - Value $2

Apparently Cactus Water has been shown to help prevent hangovers - I will try this out before the next time I have some wine!

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review & Coupon - May 2014 Granola

Nicobella Organics 2 Piece Truffles - Value $4

San Franola Granola - Value $2

These chocolates were vegan and delicious! Just one bite satisfied my chocolate craving! (But I'm still glad they didn't include a larger box of truffles!)

Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review & Coupon - May 2014 Wine

California Wine Country Guide - Valeu $18

Normally I don't get too excited for the guide books, but when we lived in San Francisco for a year we toured a few wineries, so it was fun to look them up! (My favorite was Castello di Amorosa - mostly just because it is a castle!)

Verdict: I paid $40 for this box and received about $60 worth of items. This box had the same value as last month's escape, but I liked the items more this month, so I'm much happier with the May box compared to April. I still wish this box had a slightly higher value though given how pricey it is.

What did you think of the California Escape Monthly box? And what do you think of the June destination – Las Vegas?

Hi everyone, I have no comment on box , I just want to know if Liz is okay? I have looked forward to and received a email from her everyday since signing up, the last one I received was May 20 (I know it’s only been 2 days) but I am concerned. I have slight OCD and have different routines , so where is our Liz, I hope she is on vacation or something. :- )

I’m OK! 🙂 I wonder if the email is going to your spam folder maybe? It’s been sending out everyday so I’m not sure why else it wouldn’t be showing up for you. Thanks for checking on me though 🙂

Liz: I use aol and your emails do not go into spam. I’ve been getting your new posts every day. It’s always fun to open up the emails, see whats new and what great subscription box reviews you are doing. – Hoping this weekend there will be some good subscription limited edition boxes.

I liked this box quite a bit. I like the lotion a lot. We’ve traveled to CA a few times just to go wine tasting so I was pretty thrilled with the book, an incentive to look into other wine areas besides just Sonoma/Napa. This is a book that I’ll possible actually use.

What I didn’t get is that they were initially promoting this box as being the highest value boxes that they’ve ever offered, however it seemed to have products worth the same as previous boxes. I only paid $25 since I had a Plum District voucher so I still got my money’s worth.

SUPER excited about Las Vegas.

Glenda,

I thought it was supposed to be one of the highest value boxes as well. That is, after all, what the website touts. But I really wasn’t at all blown away by the value of this box. It was all right, but definitely not anywhere near as good a value as they made it seem it would be.

Guess I’m in the minority, because I really liked this box. It might be my new favorite sub. Yes, the book goes make up a big portion of the value, but I’m excited to try everything else in the box, with the exception of the poppy kit. And a lot of other people seem to want the poppy kit, so I think I’m going to get a decent swap out of it. And I’m really looking forward to Vegas!

I was very disappointed in the Irish box as I wanted but DID NOT get the book, my understanding is that you do not always get the book in every box, is that your understanding Liz? If not , I should contact them. It is pretty spendy so the book was at the top of my wish list for the box.

Looking at what you received, nothing in the box makes me think of California, where I’ve lived since I was 3. It could have included Ghiradelli chocolate, taffy from Catalina, sourdough bread, wine-infused anything or something with gold flakes. I no longer get this box since I think it’s too expensive with the book.

I cancelled once and for all after this box. I’m from California too, and still livr here. Maybe my expectations are too high but I agree that there was SOOO much more that they could have done with this box. California has so much inspiration to pull from and we received Egg White chips and granola? Neither of those scream California and unfortunately the guide books are just piling up in my home. I wish it explicitly stated when I signed up that a guide book would be included in every box and make up a significant portion of the value. None of the up coming locales appeal to me (because I’ve already visited them) but maybe I’ll pick and choose a few boxes in the future if they’re doing a location I know nothing about. I think then I’ll have no expectations and won’t feel so let down.

I was not too thrilled with this box. I canceled as soon as I looked thru it. I do agree it was better than last month. I’ve just found for the price it certainly should be better. I got my lip factory box the same day and for half the price it had way better value. I guess being from N. California I figured they could have gone with so many things to make it better.

I agree with Liz: 1) I wish the value of the box excluding the guidebook was a bit higher and 2) that this box is way better than last month’s. I’m not happy with the seeds, although the can is really pretty. I wish there were some instructions since I don’t know if California poppies will grow in Wisconsin. I also wish they would mix it up a bit; I have received some combination of soap, hand cream, candles, or bath product for the past four months. For California those items make sense and I love the orange vanilla soap and the green apple hand cream. Just hope they come up with something different for Las Vegas!

There are instructions inside the can, you just have to slide the lid up. The seeds insides are sealed in a plastic bag.

I like all the items in this box ( except the book ) … the main reasons why I have not subscribed is the price and books in each box. By the time I get to these places in a few years or if I get there the books will be out dated. If the box was minus the book ( maybe free tourist information – like those packets or maps ) and $8 cheaper I would subscribe.

Sneaky Burrito

I have the orange/vanilla soap from somewhere else, too. I can’t even remember where. But it smells good!

Andrea at Am2cents

I believe it was included in the recent Yuzen box.

You’re right, that’s it. (I double-checked Liz’s review.)

I have a terrible memory for things like this. I get a lot of boxes, though. Maybe 10 or 11? I just started with boxes a couple of months ago so I went from having no samples to having dozens!

Brandy @ MommySplurge

had those truffles in another box, amazing!!! i think i got this box with my voucher, but i’m not sure! no ship notice, nothing has showed up. i want that sea sponge!
