Birchbox Vs Ipsy – May 2014

There was one unfamiliar brand in this month’s BB. Everything else is pretty common and at least has been sent in past boxes. So I never do understand the rationale of BB “introducing” subscribers to new/exciting products/companies. If BB would do away with the bogus claim of “deluxe” size samples, it would be far more honest. No matter what, I end up with a box of foils and other tiny samples I can get for free at Ulta and Sephora. I’m yet to buy anything I’ve gotten from BB in full size so the points are rather meaningless to me. Maybe that’s due to never being able to really test anything to begin with. With ipsy on the other hand, there is always plenty of each product to test, many being full sized, and I have not only discovered new, indie brands but have gone in to purchase them in full size. That’s yet to happen with BB. Once my year is up, it’s bye bye BB.

Even though I end up wanting to purchase more of what I receive in my Birchbox the value always falls short of Ipsy by many $$$$s. I also do not like the tea or foodie items that Birchbox sometimes includes. I always feel cheated when that happens.
What I like most about Ipsy is it always beauty related and many items are full sized. I might not like some of the contents of my Ipsy box but I just keep what I wont use inside the makeup bag and pass it along as a little boost to a gift or someone I know who is feeling down.

I like my birchbox … You get more product variety and brands and you can buy off there shop and points for reviews you can’t beat that… You learn about more product… Foil packs aren’t really a big deal on fl oz or ml … Except you can’t seal it back if you ever notice the same amount in the little sample is the same as most in the foil packets…
Ipsy is a lot of stuff you can buy in macys like urban decay… Too faced product it’s nice and all it’s local product 60 out of 40 ….

Ipsy for me this month. I really hated that PIXI lip balm. I wish I hadn’t tried it so I could give it away. My kids got a slight shoulder sunburn over the week-end and they loved the soothing Avene water mist cooling it down before bed.

I really need to start doing the birchbox points. I’m so lazy about that kind of stuff.

I get both boxes and I still like Birchbox better. Ipsy might have bigger/full sized products, but the Birchbox products I seem to not only use up but end up purchasing the full sized product. Their points’ system is so good too. With Ipsy, if I even use up the products, which I normally don’t, I still don’t usually like them enough to buy a full size once they are gone. Ipsy’s points’ system is not that good. Birchbox’s customer service too is phenomenal!

Ipsy won as usual for me. Quit Birchbox but signed on again for the Kate Spade necklace…………when are we going to receive the necklace?? Also quit PopSugar after 8 months….never was really happy with most of their boxes. Now must fill that void with another box!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone have any in put as to which box I should try next?? Already am with Boxycharm, Glossy Box, Ipsy, Birchbox, Elf, and Julep ~ maybe I DON’T NEED ANOTHER sub???? Thanks in advance ~ still would like to know about that necklace from Birchbox!!! Even though I hated being on the wait list for Ipsy, 2 months, Finally off waitlist for June Box. There is something fun about being on a wait list and getting off it. Almost like winning something, if that makes sense. For the past 2 months I’ve kept watching all the goodies in the Ipsy bags and even purchased some of the products based on reviews. As far as birchbox, I don’t like foil samples ( unless I’m traveling ). Even with the great promotions and coupon codes, if I’m not going to like what I’m getting monthly, it does not matter. I wish birch box would step it up a bit when comes to products. I was so intrigued on starting a subscription with the kate spade necklace freebie, yet based on the stuff I’ve seen I’d rather that $10 a month go towards another subscription box with at least 1 or 2 full size products.

It was Ipsy for me this month. I’ve already used the sunscreen and Avene, and love the bag! BB was kind of a miss for me except for the Laqa lip lube which I LOVE! However, one great month out of the last 4 has led me to cancel Ipsy… Again :/

Even though Birchbox sent me 8 items to review, which is pretty awesome for points, I can’t say that I was genuinely excited for any of them. I got the pixi lippie too but I wasn’t impressed with it.

This month I actually loved everything I got from ipsy, including the bag! Everything has been happily used already, even the sunscreen.

So my winner this month is ipsy.

I voted for Ipsy this month; it’s only my second month back at Birchbox after quitting for awhile. This month’s Birchbox was better for me than past months (changed some profile info.), but the samples were still kind of small. I’ll be lucky to get one use out of the Nexxus hair samples, if that. Not really enough to tell if I’ll like them or not.

I see myself getting more mileage from the ipsy samples (turned out to love my Nailtini polish layered on top of another polish I got from Lip Factory), though I’m wary of the synthetic ingredients in the sunscreen (I got the same one you did) — I’ve gotten a rash from similar ingredients in the past. This month was more of a toss-up than usual for me, though.
