Birchbox Review - February 2014 US Weekly

Birchbox Review - February 2014 Card

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included and some tips on how to use them.

Birchbox Review - February 2014 Ruby Wing

Juicy Couture Couture La La Malibu Perfume - .05 oz Value $1.44

Ruby Wing Color Changing Polish in Kitten Heels - .25 oz Value $5

I'm never too thrilled to get a perfume sample in a beauty box, but I am loving the barbie-pink colors in this picture! Plus the color-changing polish should be fun!

Birchbox Review - February 2014 Beauty Protector

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner - . 25 oz Value $11.25

Beauty Protector Protect & Oil - Value $3

Glancing at Instagram, it looked like quite a few subscribers received this item broken in transit, so I was really happy to see my Beauty Protector intact! I like that this is a Birchbox launch exclusive, and I love the scent of Beauty Protector hair products.

Birchbox Review - February 2014 32

32 Oral Care Effervescent Breath Crystals - Value $1 total

These breath fresheners are essentially pop rocks for adults! (Definitely an appropriate lifestyle extra for a red-carpet event!)

Verdict: I paid $10 for this box and received about $22 worth of products. I would have loved to see a full size item in this box. (I think I'm spoiled from the January Birchbox), but I'm still happy with the items I received.

What did you get in your February Birchbox?

I got shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair, tinted moisturizer, eye cream, and the breath crystals. I really liked my box this month! I wasn’t as crazy about last month’s box as I got the dry shampoo and the Nail Rock polish… I usually wash my hair every day (yes I know you’re “not supposed to”…), and I don’t have time to do the Nail Rock polish very often – I’m lucky to have time to do regular nail polish.

As for perfume samples, I put “not my favorite” but I actually don’t mind getting them occasionally.

And as for income, I don’t think it makes a difference in the kind of samples you get. I have the LOWEST income on the selections, and I’ve gotten good boxes most of the time (or maybe I’m just easily pleased. 😀 )

I received the miracle skin transformer, the OPI sheer tint (tiny bottle), a hair half-up accessory, Joan Vass perfume sample, and breath mints. I’m happy. The only thing I gave away was the perfume. I sub to ipsy also, but I love that BB is usually more skincare oriented.

I got a completely different box from Liz, which included a (different) hair oil, miracle skin transformer tube, a pretty good size strivectin tube, body butter tube, and 2 tea packets. I was decently pleased with my box. My preferences are more toward skin care so I feel like Birchbox listened to me on this one. Also I had been getting too many nail polishes, and I griped a bit on a review I did, and this month I got no nail polish. Perhaps they listened? Anyhow, for $10 and their points system I’ve been pretty pleased.

I got a sample of the hair oil (gave it to my daughter who has problems with breakage & stuff). Gave her the perfume sample too because she liked it. I got the nail tint, which I’m curious about, the Truffle Serum & the tea (which I might give to a work friend). I’m happy with it. I’m getting an Ipsy box next month as well & it will be interesting to compare the two.

I have two subs and despite different answers got the same in both boxes. It was different from what everyone else seemed to be getting. I’m really unhappy with this box. So getting 2 of the same crap. A natural mascara that smells funny and does nothing. A perfume hello sample, smells OK. Shampoo and conditioner. A body butter that smells awful and is overwhelming.

Got my first box today and actually I was pretty happy with it since I got eye liner. I got (I assume) full size Cynthia Rowley liquid eye liner, the hair protector oil, Juicy perfume sample, Ayers soap, and three tea bags. I’ve not tried the soap but it looks like hotel soap, which I find kind of funny for some reason. I think I like how it and the oil smell. Not sure about the perfume. I liked it when I first sprayed it but the longer I wear it, the less I think I like it.

I actually loved this month’s BB. I got two tea bags from a great company, lovely truffle moisturizer, the same hair oil and a cool nail tint. For me the fragrance- hello- by harvey prince- was the only miss.

I received 3 products that I don’t think I have seen on anyone’s comments: Paula’s choice Resist ultra light antioxidant concentrate serum Full Size(26.95). I am wearing it now and it feels like silk! Also Full Size Whish Three Wishes Body Butter (24.00) and packet of 6 Dry Dedorant Swipes for Clothes. I am pleased. Plus the BP and eye shadows. Love this box.

It looks like we got the same box. Beauty Protector hair oil (perfect for me…long hair on the dry side), Coastal Scents Eye Shadow Palette (3 of the 4 colors I love), Paula’s Choice serum, Whish Body Butter (I’m not loving the pomegranite scent, but it may smell better on), and the Reviver dry deodorant swipes for clothes (they say it’s also good on hair, which I’m excited about). Not my favorite Birch Box…but this one was decent.

Last months Birchbox was a real letdown for me, but this month was so MUCH better. I got The OPI pink nail tint, the Benefit Fakeup, Pores No More, Balancing Act (which is a sample on a card) and The Agave hair oil. I loved everything. I’m super addicted to the hair oil now. I might need to save up some points. The full size is $40.

So just got my box today kinda happy with it wish the tinted nail polish(in don’t violet me down) had been full size and had gotten something other than he truffle serum the tea sounds really good even though I don’t really drink much tea I’ll give it another couple months to really try it since this is my first box

I actually really liked my box this month. I had been receiving a ton of skin care stuff, so I tweeked my profile, which seemed to help. I got the tinted top coat (which isn’t my favorite, but I like the idea of it, so I’m glad I got to try it in a sample instead of buying it full price.) I got the SOS eye cream, which I tried this morning and surprisingly really like. It’s not something I’d usually buy. And a nice size sample of shampoo & conditioner that I’m looking forward to trying. I also receiving the tea, and I’m a tea drinker, so I liked that.

Maybe not the best box I’ve gotten, but I’m happy with the samples.

My first ever birch box was women health box I think feb 2013.
I’m gonna vent since I’ve gotten some great boxes since November 2013. I’ve gotten problems from missing items, to product orders missing item or broken, lost my first birch box man January a month later it shows up. They promised me march birch box man since febuary is out of stock. Sending out products that are expired. Oh and now my febuary women’s box came full of glass from the oil breaking. I already own the matte coola sunscreen and have no eye lashes for that massacre. Pink ruby nail Polish looked cool though. Sighs every order has a problems and I just subbed for a year.

I don’t think I’ve seen a review with the items I received today: hair half up thing (?), body butter, face serum, muti-use color sample & tea. SO SICK OF TEA!!! Anyway, I keep saying to myself it’s only $10 but every month I’m giving most of it away, I may as well go spend the $10 at Starbucks, at least I know I’ll enjoy it!

Didn’t get my box yet, but I’m pretty sure, its going to be my worst. Disappointed this month

Just opened my box today. It seemed pretty full, so not sure what everyone else is talking about, but maybe I just got bigger products. I got the mouth crystals, Harvey Prince Hello, shampoo and conditioner, and eye palate sample. I like the smell of the perfume and the sample size doesn’t bother me since I don’t wear perfume a lot. The shampoo and conditioner samples look pretty big so I’m excited about those and the palate colors are silvers, which I don’t currently own any of so Im Thrilled to try out. Overall, not an amazinggg box, but the again it’s only ten dollars so I’m content!

My box was a little bit different. I have been getting the box for two months and was going to cancel. This was the best box of them all. My samples were good sized. I am in love with the Hello perfume. I’m now on a waiting list to get it. I hope my next box won’t be a let down like the first two months.

Reply ButtonReply

Glenda

Wait, I don’t get this… This is supposed to be my first box, so why does my account say “processing”? My credit card was charged at the end of last month and my confirmation says shipping on 2/10/14. Is this normal?

Reply ButtonReply

Glenda

Never mind. I found a tracking number. Still don’t understand why it says processing, but, oh well…

Reply ButtonReply

Melanie

Three months later and mine still says processing too, so I don’t really think it means anything

Emily

Still waiting for it to arrive but from the looks of my sub page I’m getting Harvey Prince Hello, Skin and Co Truffle Anti Aging Serum (odd I have the anti-aging unchecked on my profile), the Hair Oil, Harney and Sons Tea and OPI Tinted Top Coat. I’m kind of excited for it but was hoping to try the color changing polish and the Dr. Brandt Pores No More

I am really doubting that they use income as guidelines for what they send. I (truthfully) put our income as the highest listed. I have been signed up for 2 months and have only gotten teas, clothes deodorizer, foils of shampoos/conditioner and a granola bar. Oh, and a vial of perfume. All junk in my opinion and not what you’d expect from a company that is about skin care and beauty. I canceled. I’m not going to get my hopes up that next month will be better when I feel it won’t. I wanted to sample new things to buy and change up my routine. Instead I was upset and asking myself why would I stay subscribed to a company that “plays favorites”. I have a feeling that being a blogger, instead of income, determines how nice your items are.

I’m on the fence with this month’s box. When I opened it, I was surprised how empty it looked with the paper covering the small samples! I received a small OPI topcoat in shade Be Magentale with Me. I’ve never used a tinted topcoat, so that might be interesting. I also got the agave healing oil, but it doesn’t list the ingredients, so I’ll have to research before I can use it. I have a severe gluten allergy and products with wheat protein give me allergy attacks. I got the pore no more which also doesn’t list the ingredients. The benefit fake-up isn’t really for me. I don’t really use concealers, and this seems to have a lot of chemicals and dyes in it. Lastly, I got a very small sample of benefit big easy. This sample is so small I think there is enough in there to cover my nose!? It’s tiny!

I got the exact same box except my OPI topcoat is blue tinted (which is actually perfect for me as I mostly wear non-traditional shades). I’ve always loved Birchbox but this box just felt so skimpy – the oil treatment I’d love but that’s likely not enough sample (and I have very thin hair!) and the box just felt so empty. Really disappointed this time around.

Birchbox is slipping, I’m considering just sticking strictly with Ipsy. Way too many repeats and the products are a little out of left field.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

This will be my first Birchbox and I’m already disappointed. I’ve had the Dr.Brandt Pores No More and am not impressed and the nail polish is definitely not me. Hmmm

Reply ButtonReply

Amy

I would like to see at least bigger sample sizes. I’ve been thinking about canceling. I love birchbox but sometimes I am honestly insulted by the Tiny size samples that you can get for free from the department store in the box. I feel like birchbox never ever sends anything full size either while Ipsy does. I do think the points/rewards system is fabulous!

Reply ButtonReply

Renee

I’m giving itbine mire montg but I’ve yet to be thrilled. I have yet to receive a full size product. I know its just 10$ but I pay just 10$ for ipsy and they always have at least one full size product. This month they even have a zoya polish. I also do not like reading that birchbox may base what you get in the income they ask you on the survey. I know people that save every penny for top products and this should not be a factor – its income discrimination

I am jealous of your hot pink color changing nail polish (I got the same brand last month in chunky gold glitter), and your Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner! I would have much preferred that over some things that I got in my box this month. I received Caudalie S.O.S. Morning eye renewal, 2 of the Harney and Sons wrapped tea satchets (I don’t drink tea so I will give these 2 little tea bags to people at work), OPI Sheer Tints Top Coat in ‘I Can Teal You Like Me’, and Bain de Terre Passion Flower color preserving shampoo and conditioner. I didn’t get any deluxe sample sizes, but am still happy with the sized that I received. I’m fairly satisfied but after hearing about what everyone else received, I am feeling a little bit gipped. This was supposed to be a “red carper ready” box. Besides the morning eye renewal which very loosely fits in this category, I don’t see anything red carpet about this box.
