Fancy Box Review – January 2014

The February box is fabulous! I won’t spoil it 🙂

Do you ever think it’s too coincidental when companies offer to send you a free box to review and then it ends up being a particularly good one?

This was my first box and I loved it! I stated I did not want ANY profanity so I was happy they listened. Instead of the ID Cable, I got the Hickies Elastic lacing system and gave it to my daughter. On my profile I put ABSOLUTELY NO PROFANITY so maybe that will help some of you that got the gross mugs with curse words on them. Perhaps it’s a flook I didn’t. Who knows. Anyhow, I loved my box!

I think it’s really telling that there’s no sign of a review for the December Fancy box. This was a particularly poor selection with only three items in it – cheap earphones, a (damaged) candle and some shot glasses (again). This was the first box I had ordered in ages from Fancy and it was the most disappointing yet. I would have returned it but but as I live in the UK the cost of postage makes this impractical.

It seems to have turned from a novel and fun way to receive interesting and unusual items into a cheap stock clearance exercise. Fancy are also completely intolerant of any criticism and immediately censor any negative feedback left on their site.

I got the same box as you and I really like what I got. I wish the sweater mugs weren’t so expensive otherwise I would try to get more to have a matching set. Maybe they are selling elsewhere for less. The rings seem overvalued to me, but I guess if they are gold plated, that increases the value.

The sweater mug is cute, but way overvalued. I saw almost the exact ones at my local grocery store for $10, regular price.

this box looks amazing. i love that feather ring and that charging cable is actually really cool! (i have two different iPads and an iPhone 5 for work so…)

does anyone know, if i signed up for the fancy box now, would i get this months or next months? tia!

I too got that procrastination mug. In my special notes I also have stated that I don’t want anything with swear words. They also got my t-shirt size wrong. I also have written that I don’t want any skulls and in a different box I got a skull bracelet. The past 6 or so boxes I have received have all had issues. Once I’m done my last month in my 3 month subscription I’m completely done. It doesn’t help that when I send an email they don’t respond. I once sent 10 emails within a 3 week period before they finally responded to one. If they had responded earlier some of the issues would have been avoided. Still waiting to hear back from them regarding the cup. I also somehow skipped box 2 of the Kelly Rowland box even though I ordered 2 months in a row. Which means I received the little camera but not film like they had promised. Way too many issues!

I had the same procrastination mug and I dislike it immensely. I don’t even have anyone I can re-gift it too. I am going to stick it somewhere and hopefully will be able to give it as a gag gift. I liked the rings and the shirt is really soft, but this was my last Fancy box. I cancelled after this one.

Stephanie, you are not a prude! I got the same mug as you and it went directly back to Fancy! I had put in my profile not to send me anything that had swear words etc. on it! It tells me that they don’t read or care about someone’s profile. This is the second month in a row I have gotten things out of my profile. My profile says home, media, gadgets and no women’s products! and the first month they sent me womens sunglasses, eyelash curler, mascara, candle and that’s it! I was very upset as it didn’t match anything in my profile! And the same with this month except for the plug thing. Real good CS Fancy!! Well this month they got the t shirt back and the mug and coaster back! After calling them and being on the phone for over an hour and finally I think talking to someone up there, he promised to send me some gadgets which I got yesterday. A small mini camera and film(kinda cute) and a power block which my husband can definitely use! But it took an awful lot of time and patience (which was hard to come by in the middle of that call) to finally get what should have come to me in the first place! All I can say is I have 1 more month on a 3 month sub and it will be my last! And this month better be good or it will go back too!!!! Sorry, just thinking about Fancy gets my dander up!!! : )

Lucky you! I also go the cable cup and saucer last month, but this month, got a different mug than yours….which I would have liked! Mine was a black graphic mug that says “Don’t F….ing Procrastinate.” It’s not that I don’t swear or am a prude, but I’d prefer not to have a mug with profanity on it! Not my style. Wish I’d gotten one like yours!
