Birchbox Man Review - February 2014Cat

Before this box arrived I received an email from Birchbox apologizing that the letter that went out with this box was an oversight. They warned that the letter that went out was pretty much the thought stream of a cat! (It was definitely amusing to read).

Birchbox Man Review - February 2014 Details

On the flip side of the letter, Birchbox Man details each item included in your box for that month.

Birchbox Man Review - February 2014 Wurkin

Wurkin Stiffs Power Collar Stays – Value $20

These get great reviews and would be a great find if my husband wore collared shirts – but since he doesn’t these are either going in the gift or swap pile!

Birchbox Man Review - February 2014 Billy

Billy Jealousy Adrenaline Junkie Energizing Scrub – 1 oz Value $3

Arquiste Aleksandr Eau de Parfum – .038 oz Value $3

We’ve received Billy Jealousy products in Birchbox Man boxes before and they’re great. This one has a wonderful peppermint scent!

Birchbox Man Review - February 2014 Baxter

Baxter of California Hard Cream Pomade – 10 ml Value $3

Schulz & Malley Cleansing Face Wash  – 1 oz Value $3

Verdict: We paid $20 for this box and received about $32 worth of products. Just looking at the prices this box has a good value, but for us it was kind of a bust since the most expensive product isn’t something my husband will use, and all the other products were smaller samples. I know every Birchbox Man can’t be a winner, and we’ve gotten some amazing value boxes in the past, so I’ll just accept that every once in a while we won’t get a great box.

What did you get in your February Birchbox Man?

  1. DO you need an invite to join BB Men? I really want to order this box for a gift right away! Anyone?

    • The waitlist usually takes about a week, but if you want a subscription ASAP, you can always buy a gift subscription for yourself!

  2. Our hubbies got identical BBs this month! The funny thing is, my husband didn’t mention the gibberish note card… So either he didn’t really read it, or he speaks cat!

Luckily he does wear collared shirts every day for work, but he really didn’t need any more of these collar stays (most of his shirts are from Express which provides them) but at least these are good quality metal ones so they’ll last a long time. Also, he just shaved his head last week so the pomade won’t be used for a little while, but overall he was pleased enough with the box. He was hoping for some different items than what he got though, so hopefully he gets really wowed next month to make up for it.

  3. Oh man I would have loved to receive the Wurkin Stiffs Power Collar Stays! I was actually looking to buy them with my Birchbox points for my dad’s upcoming birthday.

  4. This month my husband got the note cards. I was thrilled since I’m usually the one stuck writing the thank you letters on behave of us. Being he is the professional writer by trade he needs to start sharing those duties too.

He has no fragrances on his profile but got the Arquiste Aleksandr Eau de Parfum. It was a pleasant surprise, smell mild and after seeing the $165 full size price tag it will be put to use.

The three boxes he got so far have been a big win. He hoping for something for his beard in the future.

  5. The cat filler copy is hilarious. I wish they always had something as interesting as that on their cards instead of the cutesy/feel-good text.

    • Agreed. Don’t you wonder if someone is in trouble now for letting that slip by? I would’ve found it hilarious if I’d received that.

      • Since is says

        parting words,

My guess is it was some employee’s resignation, which I guess could have been much worse, but it’s humorous, so while BB is probably still annoyed, its not totally terrible

  6. I got my son a 3 month subscription as a gift last July and the first box he liked as he got these cool sunglasses, and that was the last I heard of it. I guess it was not good or he would have told me.

  7. I had my boyfriend sign up for this subscription, and this will be his first box. I was single for most of last year when my whole subscription addiction started (seems so long ago…. ha), and I remember thinking that it would be so fun to share it with someone (haha!). So now I can! I’m excited to see what he gets, although I really hope he gets the collar stays instead of the baseball cap that says “Mr.” (we watched the spoiler). He’s a lawyer, so he could really use those! Thanks for your reviews, Liz! 🙂

    • I’m so glad you have someone to share your subscription addiction with! Hopefully he gets a great first box and gets hooked too! 🙂
