Wantable Beauty Box Review - August 2013

Wantable used to be a beauty and makeup subscription service, but they recently split into two different subscriptions: a beauty box, and an accessory box. This review is of their beauty box, but you can also check out my accessory box review!

One of the unique aspects of Wantable - that I love - is that you can completely customize the box and let them know what types of makeup products you want and what types you don't want!

Wantable Beauty Box Review - August 2013

The Box: Wantable Makeup Subscription

The Cost: $36 a month (one time only purchase available for $40)

The Products: Makeup products based on your profile settings.

Ships to: US, Canada (additional $5) and Australia (additional $9)

Check out all of my Wantable reviews and the Beauty Subscription Box Directory!

Wantable Beauty Box Review - August 2013

Rainbow Honey Custom Blended Nail Lacquer in The Kraken - Value $10

This is definitely a bold nail polish - but I love that I have nothing like it. I also have never heard of the brand Rainbow Honey brand, but I'm happy to discover it through Wantable!

Japonesque Flat Eyeliner Brush - Value $10

I received a Japonesque travel brush set from the July Coco Rocha Fancy Box, and I'm very happy with the quality of the brushes, so getting another brush from the brand is a win for me!

Michael Marcus Waterproof Mascara - Value $24

Besame Enriched Lip Shine in Black Licorice - Value $20

This lipgloss has a nice red-wine stain color, and it actually smells like licorice! Plus, I love the Besame 1920's deco packaging!

Lise Watier Ombre Souffle Supreme Eye Shadow Sample - FREE

Brazen Cosmetics Loose Eye Shadow in Buzzed - Value $18

Wantable is all full-sized makeup, but every month they usually include a free sample of makeup as well.

Verdict: I paid $36 for this box, and received over $80 worth of full-sized makeup based on my preferences - I am very happy with my Wantable Beauty Box subscription! I think I may go into my account and change up my makeup preferences a little bit before the next box. (I have an abundance of nail polish from nail polish subscriptions, so I may exclude that from Wantable for a while). Do you subscribe to either Wantable box? What did you get this month?

I just got my first Wantable makeup box-and I think it is pretty good! One of my lipsticks was a bit too orange for me, but other than that, I will use everything! I do know their stock was running low.

After seeing your previous posts on the box – I figured I’d give it a try. I’ve tried glossybox, birchbox and sample society. I was sick of getting face creams and eye creams. I really just wanted makeup. August was my first box and I was thrilled with what I received. They were spot on with the items they sent me vs. my profile. Can’t wait for next month! Definitely worth the money for more customized products!

To Jordan’s point, yeah, I’m not sure what’s going on with their accessories boxes these days. When I first subscribed around the beginning of the year, I could not rave about them enough. I even emailed the company to tell them how awesome the accessories boxes were.

Then – no matter how much I tried tweaking my profile – they just started going downhill for me. The stuff seems like it’s getting cheaper and cheaper, and the individually wrapped pieces in plastic sort of cheapens it more – I feel like I’m getting wholesale stuff from China (which we probably are – LOL).

In the “good old days,” they used to individually wrap the pieces in tissue paper so it was more like opening a gift, and the stuff was cute, cute, cute. I’m not sure what happened. I just keep skipping months now.

Same with the makeup. Although the stuff in this post is OK, it’s kind of a far cry from the great selection they used to send. I’d recommend the Blush Mystery Box or Glossybox instead – they’re more affordable too.

I’m sad because I used to be such a huge fan. Maybe their number of subscribers – either too many or not enough – is affecting the quality now.

I feel the same way. I use to have subscribe to both the makeup and jewelry but I cancelled because I felt the value was going downhill. I was said b/c I loved them when they first started.

I love the Wantable beauty box. I got over $90 worth of stuff this month, and I loved everything.

I subscribed to the Wantable Accesories box and was dissappointed when it arrived. Not sure if I went wrong in my profile, but none of the three items fit me at all. I plan to return and unsubscribe. $36 a month for a box of Accesories I only semi like does not seem worth it.
