Birchbox Review – April 2013 – Monthly Beauty Sample Boxes

Wow, I think I finally got a better box than any blogger I’ve seen! Aside from the bonus eye roller & Magazine sub, I got a full size Mirenesse Glossy Kiss Lip & cheek stain, Caudalie body oil, Nexxus hair serum, & Vitivia Pro:vitamin capsules (3 day supply). I love everything!

I’ve received two Birchbox Boxes so far and have been disappointed with both. If I would have received yours I would have been happy, but here’s the disappointing items I received (it’d be cool if there was some sort of thing on here where we traded what we didn’t like with others who also do the box thing): Youngblood: Anti-Shine Mattifier, Weleda (three packets of various body lotions), Nexxus: Youth Renewing Serum, StriVectin: Eye Concentrate, and Claudine: Divine Oil. Personally, I would love to receive a BB or CC cream sample. I keep getting various oil samples (I received two different ones in last month’s box) and don’t use them (my hair has always been healthy and straight yet fine/thin and they make the condition of my hair worse by weighing it down).

I also got the Nexxus oil& Women’s Health subscription. Also got 3mL vial of Caudalie Divine Oil, 3 packets of Mighty Leaf Tea, the Strivectin and a full size Mirenesse Glossy Kiss(lip/cheek stain)

I got the exact same box. This box is better than the boxes I have gotten lately though. The thing I don’t get with BB is that it seems no one gets the cool products they show in the BB Preview videos. I think those videos are just kind of a way to suck subscribers in. They say the products are based on the beauty profile you put on the website. My whole profile is all about aging, anti-aging, etc. You would think that would warrant the Strivectin or Caudalie. But nope. I don’t get BB sometimes. Great review! Thanks for posting it!

My box was also completely different, and I’m mad that I got tea bags as a lifestyle extra when you got an awesome full size eye roll on as an extra! Jealous! I did a review of all my products on my page, and was kind of disappointed, although looking at your box, I don’t really love anything but the beauty find extra thingie. Birchbox has really been letting me down lately!

I received the exact same box as you did. I was happy with the full sized eye roller and I also am happy about the 1 year Woman’s Health subscription. The Kiel’s sample is great but also very small. So is the Nexxus. I barely got a drop out of the Nexxus. I’m excited to try the CC Cream as it came in a perfect shade for me (light/medium) & I’ve only tried the BB Creams so I’m excited for the CC Cream. Once again the CC cream was very tiny. The body wash is ok, I guess if u used it sparingly you could get 2-3 uses out of it.
So, all in all, I was pleased with my box this month. I just got my 1st box this Jan. I wasnt happy with Jan or Feb at all so I was getting worried….;)
I’ve also been on a waiting list with Birchbox since mid Feb for both the VDay Box & the Skinny Chic perfume. I’ve never received a notice about being able to purchase it since I was put on a waiting list. I emailed them in March and was told to be patient. It’s April and still nothing. Is that normal? I want to buy the Home Birchbox that is supportively coming out today (per their FB) and I don’t want to go on a waiting list for that too.
Anyone else gonna buy the Homebox???

My box was totally different. I got a color changing nail polish (yay- I love nail polish!), shampoo and conditioner (argh, more packets), cuticle salve (? It comes in a tin and reminds me of the Hunger Games), a clay mask, and the same roller eye sample thing. I’m actually really pleased with my box, it seems to mostly be useful things this time. I was pretty ambivalent about the “Women’s Health” partnership, but it doesn’t seem to have effected what’s in the box. Besides the card, what’s the about? I’m not really understanding the instructions there.

I received the exact same box. I was actually a little disappointed. I subscribed because I wanted more makeup samples, and BB keeps sending me skin stuff. I rarely use skincare samples because I have sensitive skin. I loved BB at the beginning, but lately I feel like I’m paying for tiny samples that they get for free, without anything substantial.

I did try the eye refresh gel. It feels nice, I didn’t get a sense that it was effective at reducing puffiness as claimed though. Meh. Starbox is rapidly become my fav – I may have to cancel BB.

I hope my box isn’t like this. I recently got the Nexxus serum for free in the mail so I really don’t want to get it from something I bought.

Wow, I didnt get any of those samples, nor did I received the extras you mentioned, and I have been a BB subsciber for over a year. My sub boxes have all been very disappointing lately.
