Why Minimalist Beauty is the Next Big Thing

In a world where we’re worried about plastic in our oceans, rising costs of living, and living spaces becoming smaller, it’s easy to get extremely overwhelmed. More and more people are learning about the value of having less clutter and how much that helps free our minds. Personally, my theme for the year is that less is more, without sacrificing quality.

I recently discovered Alleyoop - whose values align perfectly. They create beautiful multitasking beauty products which naturally use less packaging. They are vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, and choose high-quality, skin-loving ingredients in their formulas that just WORK, and that definitely makes me feel good about purchasing from them. Here are the only 5 products I need to update my look:

1. Multi-Tasker 4-in-1 Makeup Brush - $28

This super-soft vegan brush saves so much space - replacing a sponge, blender, shadow brush, and brow brush. Basically, the Multi-Tasker is everything you need for a full face. Considering a good quality face brush from other brands can easily go for $35+, it’s like getting 4 for less than the price of one.

2. Pen Pal 4-in-1 Touchup Pen $25 - Make a Mauve

This gives me nostalgic feelings from my childhood! The rich, matte black goes on smooth as an eyeliner. The brown multi-tasks as a liner, shadow, or brow pencil. The champagne perfectly highlights and the lip liner can fill in all of the lips, or be paired with lipstick. Once again, considering one single eye or lip pencil from a good brand can easily go for $25, the Pen Pal is amazing on our wallets.

3. Stack the Odds - Blush, Bronzer, Highlighter $38 - Sassy Pants

Every shade in the Stack the Odds set is extremely creamy, easy to blend, and very buildable. It doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything on my face with these. I simply blend using the Alleyoop face brush or my fingers across my cheekbones for a seamless, effortless look. You could even use them on the eyes. The fact that you get 3 high-quality pigments for $38 in a very travel-friendly container is a huge steal.

4. 11th Hour Cream Eyeshadow & Liner Stick $24 - Gotta Guava (Shimmer) and Coffee Break (Matte)

These are highly pigmented, and easily blendable creamy liner/shadow sticks. The 11th Hour liners go on so smoothly and stay put all day. I personally have pretty oily lids, and was pleased to check back up several hours later to find no creasing! Considering every cream eyeshadow product creases on me that I’ve tried, I was super pumped about this.

5. Double Team Tinted Lip Lotion $14 - Fresh Squeeze

This Double Team tinted lip lotion has a wonderfully hydrating, nicely pigmented formula. I’m obsessed with the fact that its first ingredient is Shea butter - a highly nourishing, moisturizing, skin-loving ingredient that’s been used for centuries for skin care and cosmetics. It doesn’t go on sticky at all. It’s wonderful on its own, or on top of a lipstick or lip liner.

The Verdict

All in all, I was able to achieve a full face of makeup with just these few simple Alleyoop products along with foundation, concealer, and mascara. Pretty impressive with how compact it makes my travel bag, and yet still so versatile with the number of looks I can achieve.

I feel good knowing that these products are good for myself, my skin, and the planet.
