Perfect Image Review - A Professional Grade Peel and Skincare Subscription

My Perfect Image Review

A peel subscription that demystified peels and makes them super accessible to all!

Perfect Image is on a mission to improve everyone's skin. Per Perfect Image: "We give people the tools & confidence they need, to take control of their skin, and be freed from the anxieties of skin concerns."

I am someone who really loves peels! Seriously, they can help with so many different skin concerns, from uneven texture, uneven tone, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and more! Depending on your skin and your goals, there are many different options, which can be super confusing. And when you are working with super-exfoliators, you really want to get your formula right and start off with a peel that is appropriate for your skin before you jump into the really powerful stuff! Usually, this means multiple visits to an esthetician or a dermatologist, which can get really, really expensive. Perfect Image is a great alternative for someone who wants to try peels out without breaking the bank but still wants the safety and knowledge of a skin professional to help them along the way. I tried this service out for a solid month (5 peels) and I really loved it!

About Perfect Image

The Box: Perfect Image

The Cost: $29.95/month

The Products: A cleanser, 5 peel pads, a moisturizer, and an additional skincare item

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Pros & Cons

The Pros
  • Try out sample sizes of pro-grade skincare and peels per month for a reasonable cost.
  • Access to certified skincare professionals to help you accomplish your skincare goals.
  • Exceptionally strong peels that are easy to apply!
  • The ability to change up your peels and products each month depending on your goals or skin needs.
The Cons
  • Peels can be a harsher treatment that your skin might have to adjust to (the Perfect Skin pros can help with this though!).
  • Stronger formulas are only available to professionals (which, as a professional, I personally don't think is a con, but subscribers might not love this).
Is It Worth It?
  • Totally, yes. If your eyes water at the price tag of most monthly professional peels, this is an affordable and effective alternative.
I’d Recommend Perfect Image If You
  • Want to invest in peels without the cost of seeing an esthetician or dermatologist.
  • Like the idea of trying products from the Perfect Image line without committing to a full size.
  • Want the freedom to swap up different peels and pre and post-care options month by month for the same price.
  • Struggle with uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, or texture issues.

The Sign-Up Process

There is a straightforward quiz to get you started with Perfect Image. It includes questions about your age range, skin concerns, skin tone, sensitivity, and more!

I was surprised that I was able to choose my own peel, mostly because I expected the quiz to lead to a determined result. All of the options were geared towards an "age" concern, which was exactly what I selected. I was also able to pick from three different pre-peel cleansers, two post-peel moisture treats, and a final sample from the other items in the Perfect Image line.

Another really awesome feature is that within your account, there is a chat window where you can discuss your plan with a Perfect Image pro who will be able to walk you through the process, answer any questions and concerns, and change products up by month if you want. I found this to be a really quick process too! I never waited more than a few hours for a reply.

My Kit

Shipping was very quick! In only a few days my kit had arrived, clad in a cute blue bubble mailer.

The kit also arrived with a bunch of helpful usage and safety info, which is very important when using something powerful like a peel.

It also included the ingredient lists for each product and more info on peels and peel strengths.

The Items

Everything arrived in a little zip closure bag with a drawstring bag inside with all of the products.

Anti-Aging Resurfacing Cleanser

Anti-Aging Resurfacing Cleanser, 0.5 fl oz - Buy a full size 4 fl oz for $24.95

All of the cleanser options look pretty awesome, but in keeping with my "anti-aging" theme, I selected this one. Per Perfect Image:

Formulated to thoroughly cleanse and prep the skin for a peel, this cleanser deeply exfoliates, while our combination of acids firm, smooth, and brighten the appearance of the skin.

I really liked this cleanser! The third ingredient is glycolic acid, which speaks to the resurfacing power. It is blended with other ingredients I really love like exfoliators TCA and malic acid, soothing willow bark and yarrow, and antioxidant-rich chamomile and green tea. I didn't need much to get a good clean face because the formula is on the runny side but it had a nice lather! It does have lavender inside which gives it a soft herbal scent.

Hydra-Repair Super Moisturizer

Hydra-Repair Super Moisturizer, 0;5 fl oz - Buy a full size 2 fl oz for $29.95

From Perfect Image:

Perfect for dry, rough, and damaged skin. A healing cream, containing essential ingredients that restore, replenish, and smooth healthy skin. It helps to replenish the skin after a chemical peel or an aggressive exfoliation treatment.

Your skin doesn't need to be super damaged to benefit from this skin. In fact, I like to recommend a heavy-duty cream like this after most aggressive peels because your skin needs the extra love to heal and improve! The good stuff inside this little pot forms a really long list. Like, seriously long! Here are a few stellar callouts: super soothers aloe and panthenol, antioxidants from chamomile, green tea, cucumber, moisturizing hyaluronic acid, and multiples skin-loving ceramides. It left my skin feeling replenished and there wasn't any really noticeable fragrance.

Sea Whip Cucumber Detox Soothing Gel

Sea Whip Cucumber Detox Soothing Gel, 0.5 fl oz - Buy 2 fl oz for $29.95

From Perfect Image:

An array of skin soothing and repairing ingredients help hydrate and calm irritated and sensitive skin in this refreshing moisturizing gel. Excellent after a sunburn, wax, mask, chemical peel or other facial treatment.

Even though I wear loads of SPF, a sunburn is always a fear in the back of my mind. Even when I don't actually burn I still notice when I get a little too much sun. I chose this aloe sample specifically for post-sun skin. I feel like so many aloe formulas have alcohol inside, which can burn when applied to sensitive skin but this one is alcohol-free and filled with some seriously soothing complements to that dreamy green aloe. It is also a lot thicker than so many aloe-centered formulas and feels downright velvety! I love that I found oatmeal, allantoin, green tea, and hyaluronic acid too. You can use this as a mask you leave on for 15-20 minutes then wash off like a mask. You can also treat it like a sleep mask and even keep it in the fridge! This is one of my favorite aloe formulas, ever!

Glycolic 50% Gel Peel

Glycolic 50% Gel Peel Pads, 5 pads - Buy a 1 fl oz bottle for $29.95

This peel targets fine lines and wrinkles by reaching a deeper level of the skin. Deep exfoliation helps even out skin texture and stimulate collagen production for a rejuvenated look.

Ok, so this is what we are all really here for, right? While this peel formula is sold in a glass bottle, this kit arrived with 5 super easy-to-use pre-packaged wipes. The peel I chose was a 50% glycolic formula which is a level 2 peel in their formulations. Perfect Image sells a 10% daily use formula, a 30% level 1 formula, this 50% level 2 formula, and a pro-only level three formula that is 70%. I would normally recommend starting out with a level one on your own, but since you are linked with a skincare pro through Perfect Image, if they recommend a level 2, I say dive in! With, of course, strict attention to the instructions from your skincare pro! Mine recommended applying the wipe to clean skip with gentle pressure and letting it sit for 1 minute before thoroughly rinsing. This stuff is a little spicy!! You certainly feel it burning a little. I don't find it super uncomfortable, but if you aren't used to peels you can always stand in front of a fan to let the air cool you down. You really need to rinse this thoroughly because it clings to the skin. This sounds weird but when I was in the shower washing my face I would kind of lick my upper lip and make sure none of the tangy taste was still there. It takes a little while to really fade which is another reason it is pretty important to use water that isn't super hot since your face is going to be sensitive. My kit arrived with 5 peels which is a good number for a month, though I think one of these every other week or even once a month would be totally fine, especially if your face reacts in a very sensitive way.

My Results So Far

L to R: No peel, after first peel, second peel, third peel, and fourth peel.

The image above shows my face photos during the stages of this month-long test. I took them in front of windows or in my car, trying to capture my skin in natural lighting. I have sunscreen on in them and that's it (aside from that red lip in the middle!). There is an improvement to my overall tone and my pores are less noticeable as the weeks went on, but the biggest change I found was in my skin texture, which is sadly something the is hard to experience over the internet. My face was just smoother and I felt like my tone was much more consistent. I will say that the second week was by far the week where I felt the most sensitive and red after the peel. From then on, I feel like my skin adjusted.

FYI: Peels make your skin extra sensitive to the sun. You NEED to wear SPF.

Before a peel.

After my 4th peel.

My primary focus with this trial was an anti-aging angle, and my face does feel firmer and smoother. But the largest change I noticed was in the appearance of my pores. While pore size is genetic and you can't really "shrink" them, the right products do minimize their appearance, and this was a big benefit for me, as you can see above. I also felt like my face was less prone to red splotchiness and my face just looked and felt less congested without feeling like I was drying my skin out.

Perfect Image is a super unique experience and was blown away. I am really happy with my results and plan on trying it out for a few months longer before I buy a few bottles. Since I have a license, I am really eyeing that pro-grade 70% glycolic formula! This is a really wonderful subscription for someone out there who is interested in peels but also wants the guidance of a professional too. The chat feature inside your Perfect Image account makes it so easy to change your formulas or discuss any questions or concerns you might have directly with someone who has all the info you need to make the most of your peel kit. And for $30 a month? That is a pretty incredible deal.

Sorry to leave another comment here, but I FINALLY tried out the 50% glycolic acid trial plan (only took, like, over three months to get to it), and here are my thoughts: Start SLOW! After properly cleansing my face, I gently wiped one of the glycolic wipes all around. I instantly felt a burning sensation especially over areas I had already applied the product. The directions say to leave on 30 seconds to a minute. I went longer. I shouldn’t have. I then went outside and took a walk in the hot sun. I shouldn’t have. My face ended up with a chemical rash and some purging around my jaw, but thankfully (🙏) the redness and irritation only lasted a couple of days. It’s been almost a week later and my face is almost back to normal. Since then I have used a dermaroller, 20% AHA pads, and a 30% AHA peel with no issues. I remember Megan saying the second application was very sensitive for her so I will probably attempt some time next week.

I always thought my face was concrete, but this stuff is the real deal. I wouldn’t go more than a minute the first time. The included moisturizer was great too, but it definitely isn’t enough for five separate applications.

I am very happy with this product and look forward to trying the remaining peels. I have distinct acne scarring so I will know if it works or not for that purpose. I’m pretty confident I will see improvement as I have never tried a peel this strong before.

Megan, this might sound like a dumb question, but what is received after the first trial month? Do we receive the same sort of kit with the five peel pads and little extras each month we are subscribed? Thank you.

Snow

Gonna answer my own question! Perfect Image replied and yes, what is received the first month is also received in subsequent months (I’m not sure why I thought different…. maybe the word “trial” through me off?) Anyway, I placed my order this morning and it has already shipped! Hopefully smoother skin is now in my future 😁

Was this a box MSA paid for? I don’t see any indication whether it’s a box sent for review or not

Sienna

It’s at the very top of the review, under “About Perfect Image”.

Thank you for the review, I’d never heard of this subscription. I’m tempted by the TCA 15% peel, but am kind of scared. Would it cause sheets of skin to peel off? I looked at google images and they were sort of terrifying.

Perfect Image

Hi Suzanne!
The images you were seeing on Google were likely from treatments done by a licensed professional in a stronger amount or from people who didn’t properly follow directions. As long as the directions are followed on our products, you should not run into those situations. Everyone’s skin is different so some might experience physical peeling and some may not. This does not determine if the peel is working or not– it is. Our strengths are generally not strong enough for you to experience “sheets of skin” peeling off. Lastly, our Trial Plan comes with access to a licensed professional who can help answer any and all questions and make sure you feel confident from the start!

Hey Megan this was awesome to read! Girl, you can definitely see the improvement in your skin!!! I’ve been eyeing this service and certainly appreciate the thorough review you have done. I am seriously going to consider this as I have acne scarring that I would love to just disappear. Thanks again Megan for your input ☺️

Stephanie

It doesn’t say where these products were manufactured on the tubes which seems a bit suss to me. Pretty sure it’s a requirement of the FDA to have this on the label. A big fat no for me.

Megan K.

Hey Stephanie! The smaller skincare items are sample sizes and state that ingredients and info can be found inside the info booklet that arrived with the items. Hope that helps!

Denise

Can a regular person get the 70 percent or do you need to show your license as a pro to buy it? I have done peels for years and nothing seems to bother me so my skin isn’t sensitive at all. But I don’t have the money for an in office treatment. Thanks

Hi Megan – thank you for the professional’s weigh-in! This looks interesting (I am a peel novice). I don’t care about the fine lines but I want to get rid of the age spots (despite daily sunscreen wear!) Any suggestions? Would the glycolic 50% do that?

I have tried them (not this brand) and I don’t think I ever saw a difference. I love that last photo of the smaller pores. That is what I am after. I swear this is the brand that came in Allure box but I did not get this to try. Bummer.
