The MSA Team’s Galentine’s & Valentine’s Day Subscription Picks!

Galentine’s Day is a big deal around the MSA office. If you’re not familiar, this blessed holiday falls on February 13th and celebrates all of the wonderful gals in your life. Instead of only focusing on romantic relationships (since we know those don’t always pan out), Galentine’s Day is a time to hang with your ride or die girlfriends and show them how much they mean to you by going to brunch (waffles, please), having a self-care day, showering them with affection, or gifting them tokens of your appreciation.

Many of us still have a soft spot for good ol’ Valentine’s Day too (as circus-y as it can sometimes feel), so we wanted to honor the romantic and platonic relationships in our lives since they’re both equally important. I asked everyone around the office what subscription they’d get their sweetie or bestie this year to say “I Love You, Boo” and make them feel appreciated. Let’s see what they had to say…

Winc

Selected by Sara: Partnership Manager, Forever Friend

all contents

Subscription Box: Winc

Cost: Bottles start at $12.99 each with a membership. (Shipping is free on orders of 4 or more bottles.)

COUPON: Limited Time Only! Save 50% off your first order! No coupon needed - just use this link.

Why she chose it: “My sister/BFF is a working mom of two (hi, Stephen & Gabe! <3) with little time for herself. As a fellow wine-lover, sending her a Winc gift card to pick out her choice of wines to enjoy is the least I can do to let her know I see her and appreciate her.”

The Detox Box

Selected by Marne: Content Specialist & Photographer, Lowkey Romantic

Subscription Box: The Detox Box

Cost: $55/month with free shipping.

Why she chose it: My bestie Alicia is the healthiest person I know. In addition to being super conscious about what she puts inside her body, she’s also concerned with the products and ingredients she puts on her face. I love that The Detox Box sends a mix of skincare and makeup each month and wouldn’t overload Alicia with product since she’s is also a minimalist. Since she has been my ride or die for over 20 years, I think this would be a great way to express my gratitude so she can discover new high-end brands that are free of toxins and make her skin look as great as she feels.

Trade Coffee

Selected by Lacey: Site & Analytics Guru, Married 10.5 Years to Stay-At-Home-Dad of 2

Subscription Box: Trade Coffee

Cost: $15-$25/month, depending on the coffee you’re matched with.

COUPON: Get 30% off your first subscription shipment, plus free shipping! No coupon needed - just use this link.

Why she chose it: “My husband and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, but we’re always trying to find creative ways to treat each other and connect– it can be tough with two kids under 5, especially when I work full-time and our hobbies keep us each pretty busy in the evenings after the kids are asleep. One thing we have in common is our love of coffee! In our pre-parent days, we used to enjoy going to visit different local coffee shops on the weekends. Trade seems like a fun way to revive that tradition with a constant stream of interesting coffees from small roasters while allowing us to stick to our new weekend routine: staying in our pajamas until at least 10 or 11 AM, sipping on a couple cups of pour-over coffee, catching up with each other and playing with the kids.”

BoxyCharm

Selected by Megan: Content Creator, Perfume Hoarder, Lifetime Devotee to Dogs (and Husband)

group shot of all items

Subscription Box: BoxyCharm

Cost: $25/month

COUPON: Get a $10 credit to use in the BoxyPopUp shop! No coupon needed - just use this link.

Why she chose it: “My BFF is a makeup and beauty addict, and sadly, she is also long-distance. BoxyCharm is only $25 bucks a month which costs way less than all of the lattes and wine we would drink together if she were closer. I love treating her to cosmetics and skincare (she used to do the same for me when she was a MUA for Benefit then MAC) and this would be a great way for us to continue exploring beauty products together and comparing notes even though we can’t shop for them together anymore.”

Vegancuts Snack Box

Selected by Andy: Photography Director, Perpetual Valentine Forgetter

Subscription Box: Vegancuts Snack Box

Cost: $24.95/month

COUPON: Expiring Soon! Use code BTBF to get your first Vegancuts Box for $15.95! .

Why he chose it: “My wife Emily has been vegan for a long time, and she used to review one of the Vegancuts boxes here at MSA. We don’t normally buy a lot of snacks to have around, but when they’re available they get eaten pretty quickly. When we do pick up vegan treats, it’s often the same things over and over (Oreos and Chocolove and Hippeas forever) because we’re familiar with them and don’t have to stop to check ingredients. Having Vegancuts do the work and compile a box full of vegan delights will be a welcome treat every month!”

Atlas Coffee Club

Selected by Christen: Copywriter & Editor, Giver of Consumable Gifts

AtlasCoffee-August-2016-Contents

Subscription Box: Atlas Coffee Club

Cost: $14/month + shipping

COUPON: Limited Time Only! Get your first 12-oz bag of premium single-origin coffee FREE with any subscription (you just cover shipping) AND up to $55 off all gift subscriptions. No coupon needed - just use this link.

Why she chose it: “While it can be fun to go all-out and surprise your love with a completely impractical gift that they would never expect, my forever valentine and I are usually more practical gift-givers, going for snazzier versions of things we use regularly. And, I’d say coffee is a pretty regularly consumed thing around our house! We both recently discovered that we prefer medium-bodied coffee to darker roasts, and we both love to travel but haven’t been able to as much since having a baby—so this subscription would be an exciting way to both explore new flavors and scratch a little bit of that adventure itch in a manner that works well with our day-to-day.”

Home Chef

Selected by Savannah: Editor & Review Coordinator, Affectionate Cook

all contents

Subscription Box: Home Chef

Cost: Meals for 2 start at $6.99 per serving, and delivery is free for orders over $49. Shipping is $10 for orders less than $49.

COUPON: Save $80 off your first four boxes! No coupon needed - just use this link.

Why she chose it: “I’ve learned after nearly 5 years with my partner that one of our shared love languages is quality time; namely, a delicious meal followed by an evening on the couch debating which Ghost Adventures episodes we’ve yet to watch. I made sure to load my February Home Chef order with options I know he’ll love and timed my delivery to arrive right around the holiday. We’ve largely forgone gifts in favor of experiences, so a fabulous dinner with a few candles, a bottle of wine, shared laughs, and some spooky TV is something I know he’ll appreciate. The best part is, we don’t even have to leave the house!”

Bespoke Post

Selected by Emily: Creative Director, Andy’s Favorite Person

group of items from Bespoke Post "Terra" around box

Subscription Box: Bespoke Post

Cost: $45 a month for members, $55 if purchased without a membership.

COUPON: Expiring Soon! Use code BTBF to save 25% off your first box and get a free Mystery Box! .

Why she chose it: “I’d get a Bespoke Post subscription for my husband, Andy, because it’s such a well-curated box. He’s very into making cocktails, discovering new face wash that smells like eucalyptus, and cast-iron pans these days so based on those themes alone, Bespoke Post is a great fit. There are lots of options to choose from each month and I know he’d discover something he wouldn’t think to buy for himself but would end up using and loving.”
