KiwiCo Crafts Worth Gifting

Of course, many of you know by now that a subscription to KiwiCo boxes makes a great gift for kids of all ages, but sometimes the projects themselves can actually make the perfect gift, too! They are handmade, personal, and a great way for your child to show someone through art just how much they appreciate them. Across their entire line, their boxes provide a well-organized open-and-go experience that is both educational and engaging. My family has personally explored almost every single line, so I know just how great these boxes are from experience. While there may be some items worth gifting within all of these subscriptions, I'm going to share a few projects from the Atlas Crate, Doodle Crate, and Maker Crate lines that I think would make great gifts!

Let's check out some of the projects we've done that would make great gifts this holiday season!

Atlas Crate

Atlas Crate explores the world and other cultures through hands-on projects each month. Every box focuses on a different country and oftentimes we will explore that country by creating artworks through various art mediums. Sometimes it is a project that is specific to their culture while other times we may explore the artwork of a specific artist from that country and try to recreate our own version. Either way, the projects are unique, fun, and they provide everything we need to make them! Some projects are more decorative, while others are actually functional.

Decorative

Some of the more decorative projects that would make nice gifts are our Pajak ornament or our Wycinanki egg from the Poland box, our Parol ornament from the Philippines box, or the Rangoli from our India box. The bright colors would all look so nice on display!

Functional

I love a good functional project and these are some that could be great when gifted to the right person. This Mochila bag from Colombia is a great tiny bag as is the Batik bag from Indonesia. The beaded bracelet from Kenya is also a fashionable choice and the cute Adire Eleko pouch from Nigeria would be perfect for storing it in!

Artsy

We also have some good choices for the art lover! We have Van Gogh's Starry Night in yarn from our Netherlands box, a stained glass Notre Dame cathedral window from our France box, or a Calco Process colosseum piece from our Italy box.

Maker Crate

Maker Crate is made for older kids ages 14 and up and the focus is on art and design. This is a newer line, so I have not had the opportunity to try as many boxes as I would like to, but just looking at the boxes, you can see that there are plenty of great projects worth gifting! You can make a hammered metal mobile for the new baby in your life, macrame planters for the plant collector, or a punch needle pillow to gift the perfect decorative accent to a friend! I've only done two different projects, but I thought they were both very cool and gift-worthy!

First, I created some stationery with the Marbled Paper box. This would be great and useful for celebrating any occasion!

Then, I created an Electroluminescent light sculpture that actually works! There are several different designs which means you can find something perfect for that special someone!

Doodle Crate

Doodle Crate is the line for ages 9-16 that delivers monthly art projects. Due to the artistic nature of the projects, this line is by far the best for creating homemade gifts! There are so many different mediums that we have explored and with a specific person in mind, you could really turn any project into the perfect personalized gift for a loved one. These projects are both decorative and functional making them ideal for gifting.

Decorative

A few decorative projects that could easily be personalized to suit the tastes of your giftee are the woven landscape, spool-knitted animals, or the stained glass suncatcher.

Functional Accessories

Doodle Crate does functional projects so well! There are a ton of great ones to choose from like the painted canvas pouches, the macrame gear, or the Shibori messenger bag with two different flaps to swap out. These will be great for anyone who loves to accessorize!

Functional and Practical

These last few gifts are both functional and very practical as well! For your desk or office, we have a desktop corkboard, a watercolor calendar, and some pencil holders complete with handpainted pencils. Then we have these decorative handmade soaps that would look so nice wrapped up with a bow!

Key Takeaways

While not every line or every box will check off everyone on your list, there are certainly a lot of different options within KiwiCo that might just work! If you love to give handmade gifts or want to make those holidays feel more special, you can definitely find some great boxes that will allow your child to creatively express their love through these projects without having to make a trip to the art store or come up with your own idea. Some of these projects may even be functional, which is even better than a simple framed work of art! Have you ever gifted any of your KiwiCo projects?

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
