As a family of six, you can imagine that our grocery bill is a bit on the high side already, but when you start trying to incorporate organic meat and produce into that, it can be outrageous! Of course, I want to give my family food that is free of pesticides, but that comes with a price tag and if your children are anything like mine, what they like from week to week can quickly change, resulting in wasted food. As for my husband and I, we also get sick of the same few meals night after night. So, Green Chef with its pre-portioned organic ingredients at unbeatable prices ended up being a great solution for us.

Organic Food Without the Organic Pricing

While the pricing ranges depending on the number of meals you choose, I've found that for as low as $5.99 per serving I can serve 4 meals per week to my family with their 4 meal plan since the portions are big enough for my children to share (at least for now while the baby hasn't started solids!). This is cheaper than what we would pay per meal at a fast-food restaurant, but with Green Chef, we get the added bonus of organic ingredients. I actually went ahead and priced out a couple of meals using the grocery store I usually shop at and before I even got to any of the extras, I was already at about $5 per serving for just the main components like the meat, potatoes, and vegetables for each meal. That means we are saving money or just about breaking even with Green Chef depending on where you shop.

Organic Meals for the Whole Family

So you may be wondering, what do you actually get for $5.99 per serving? Are my kids actually going to eat that? Depending on your dietary preferences, you'll get two or three components to each dish making it a filling meal and the best part is, you get to choose from a different menu each week. Some recipes are more kid-friendly than others, but since you're preparing them yourself, you can modify them to meet your family's preferences and leave out the "black stuff" or "green stuff" that kids seem to have an aversion to!

For example, this barbecue pork cheeseburger with Italian-seasoned roasted potatoes with bell pepper is a dish I would consider kid-friendly. For my pickiest eater, I can leave out the bell pepper, set aside some potatoes without the seasoning, and leave the burger plain without the fixin's. Since the meals are already pre-portioned, that just means the rest of us would get a bit extra and there would be little to no waste.  It's the perfect solution to making organic meals that everyone can enjoy!

Final Thoughts

I am a big fan of meal boxes; I mean someone does the shopping for you, the meals are already planned out, and everything is delivered right to your door. For us, one thing we value is having organic food that is sustainably sourced and with Green Chef we get USDA-certified organic meals and high-quality sourcing.

Green Chef always has a lot of great deals, too, so if you're looking for organic meals that won't break the bank, I recommend giving them a try!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Sadly my kids are older and eat much more. They could not split the meals. They like to eat. I like this box when they are back at college! I can handle feeding four not six right now.

Yes, this definitely won’t last forever. It’s wild to think that one day I’ll be feeding four teenagers! Lol. Sometimes we like to do this box for just my husband and I if the kids aren’t eating with us! Thanks for reading and commenting, Jody E! 🙂
