I Tried These Instagram Famous Toothpaste Bits. Here’s What Happened…

Have you heard of Bite toothpaste bits?

I first discovered them when I was scrolling through Instagram and was intrigued about clean toothpaste with zero-waste packaging. Bite toothpaste bits are small but are as effective as regular toothpaste in a tube. Bite toothpaste bits are environmentally friendly, convenient, easy to use, and come in a glass bottle that can be refilled with an auto-refill subscription.

If you’re ready to ditch the traditional tube of toothpaste too, here’s everything you need to know about my experience so far.

How do they work?

Toothpaste bits are very easy to use. And, if I had to grade them, it’s a 5/5 on ease of use. All you need to do is bite down on your bit a few times, brush with a wet toothbrush, and the bits will dissolve into a toothpaste-like substance that does foam up. You then just brush your teeth like normal. It takes a little getting used to, but after a few uses, it becomes second nature.

Sustainability

I love that the Bite toothpaste bits are housed in glass bottles with aluminum lids, meaning the product is infinitely recyclable. The toothpaste bits are also shipped in mailers made from newspapers, and the boxes are fully recyclable, too–you'll never have to throw away plastic when you buy these. Sustainability is key for me, so the fact that my next refill will come in compostable pouches is also ideal.

Taste Test

The taste of toothpaste bits is just as expected–minty fresh! The taste was reminiscent of mints that come in tins and are probably mintier than most toothpaste. Bite offers the classic mint flavor in either a fluoride or fluoride-free option, as well as fluoride-free berry and charcoal flavors.

Effectiveness

Toothpaste bits are just as effective as traditional toothpaste, if not more so. My teeth feel very clean after using them, and it left my breath smelling fresh.  Plus, it helps promote good oral health by preventing cavities and gum disease, thanks to its natural ingredients. Overall, I am very happy with the effectiveness of these bits.

Value

Toothpaste bits are a bit more expensive than traditional toothpaste, but they last longer. There are 62 bites in the one-month supply ($12) and 248 bits in the four-month supply ($32), which comes out to $8 per month, plus free shipping. The prices are comparable to other clean-ingredient toothpaste like Tom’s or Dr. Bronner's, but with a smaller eco footprint. Bite also offers bundles that include their bites mouthwash and floss for your oral hygiene needs.

I’m Sold on the Convenience

There are so many benefits of using toothpaste in bit form instead of traditional tube toothpaste. Here’s what I like the most about switching to Bite toothpaste bits:

  • First, it's more environmentally friendly since there is no need for packaging or single-use plastics.
  • Second, it's more convenient since you can take the bits on the go! I frequently travel and it’s so much easier packing a few bits of toothpaste in my carry-on bag. It also takes away the worry about the giant tube leaking inside my bag.
  • Third, unlike traditional toothpaste, it offers some of the cleanest ingredients that effectively promote good oral hygiene. You won’t find harsh chemicals, artificial flavoring, sulfates, or parabens.
  • Fourth and finally, I chose the easy auto-refill service. Subscribing is a no-brainer because it means I’ll never run out of toothpaste again. Plus, I really like that the refill Bits are sent to me in 100% home compostable pouches.

I’ve Become a Bite Convert

All in all, Bite has made my life much easier—and my teeth much cleaner! If you’ve been considering switching from traditional toothpaste, I suggest you try Bite toothpaste bits. You may be surprised at how effective they are—and how much easier they make your life. Trust me—I'm a convert now!
