KnitCrate Membership Review – February 2021

This KnitCrate box was worth the wait! It wasn’t the softest yarn I’ve received from KnitCrate, but the color was gorgeous and matched my green eyes perfectly. For $24.99, we received 2 skeins of premium yarn, an online pattern booklet with 2 patterns, and sew-on gift tags for a retail value of $56 for just the yarn. KnitCrate just announced a price increase to $37.94 ($29.99 + $7.95 shipping), but even then you’re paying almost $20 less than retail for the two skeins of yarn, while also getting the patterns and tape measure. I think this is a really good value for what you receive, since high-end, premium yarn is usually around $25-$35 per skein in a local yarn store, and most patterns on Ravelry are $5-$10 each.

KnitCrate Membership Review – January 2021

This KnitCrate box was another winner. While the color was more subdued, the yarn was perfectly cozy for the dead of winter, and my finished proejct will be a go-to scarf for the rest of the season. If you are a knitter or crocheter who is open to trying new types of yarn, this would be a great subscription box to check out! For $24.99, we received 2 skeins of premium yarn, an online pattern booklet with 2 patterns, and sew-on gift tags for a total retail value of $30.00 for just the yarn. I think this is a decent value for what you receive, since high-end, premium yarn is usually around $25-35.00 per skein in a local yarn store, and most patterns on Ravelry are $5-10.00 each.

"Cancel"

Not worth it. January and March bases are the same weight, and the colors are both muted. I received no extra this month, just two muted skeins of a dull red. Not soft, and boring. Cancelling. Change the weight up. I didn’t realize the yarn was going to be no-name blends they have made. It’s not worth it if I don’t like anything I spent money on, two crates in a row.

"Don't do it."

$39.00 for 1 skein of fingering yarn (sock) or 2 of worsted. You don't get to pick the color. Takes two months for them to ship it. You can buy a handyed of your choice of color from etsy for $28. I've NEVER experienced such terrible customer service. Unbelievably rude and condescending. Returned to sender my last box for a refund.

"Charged although I canceled subscription, missing deliveries"
Sep 1, 2021
Our overall experience has been terrible. The boxes arrived several months late, one was lost in the mail because the address on it was wrong. I canceled my subscription in March. Then, in June, I got charged again and never received the crate, nor did I get a reply from KnitCrate's customer support when I asked to cancel the subsciption and issue a refund. Just now, I got on emore charge. I emailed the [email protected] address, and I got a server response that my email could not be delivered. The few boxes my wife received had high quality yarn in them and some good patterns but I would definitely not recommend this service since they might charge you for something you decided to cancel a while back and then put you under pressure to deal with this subscription through terrible customer service.

"DO NOT PURCHASE - Orders from April are still yet to be shipped"
Jul 11, 2021
They will not send you your order. They will take weeks to respond to your email. You need to hound them on social media for a response. Its been three months and at this point they are just ignoring my emails and messages. At this point I think they might be attempting a rugpull of getting as much orders as they can before they close down for good. Do not sub to this organization.

"One Star is Too Much"

Where to start? I ordered 5 skeins of yarn back in January. After tons of excuses regarding COVID delays, and a snotty email from one of their associates, I canceled my subscription. They still won't refund my money 3 months later. Now I get an email saying the won't be able to fill my order at all, so converted the money I spent into points. I bought YARN, not POINTS! And since I am no longer a subscription customer, those points will only go half as far, so I am losing money. Since they will not answer my emails, I will be contacting the Federal Trade Commission. By far one of the worst companies I have ever done business with.
