Silk + Sonder August 2026
August is almost upon us, and I’m in utter shock at how quickly summer vacation has flown by. We’ve been so busy with sports that I really haven’t had much time to relax and unwind, but that may finally be about to change. We’re wrapping up baseball, and there might even be a short break before football begins!
With our chaotic schedule, I need my Silk + Sonder planner to keep track of my day-to-day life. It has become an essential part of my routine, helping me manage everything I need to get done. Without this little booklet, I’d be completely lost.
Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it also gives me a chance to pause, reflect, and reset. It helps me stay organized, grounded, and just a little more in control of everything life throws our way. Honestly, I can’t imagine managing it all without it.
Velocity - The rate of motion, action, or progress in one's personal journey, measuring not just how fast, but how intentionally one moves forward in life.
I love that Silk + Sonder chooses a unique theme each month, and I truly appreciate how thoughtfully Meha Agrawal, the creator, curates each one. August's theme is Velocity, and at first, I was curious about how that could possibly be a theme. It didn't take long, though, to realize it was exactly what I needed.
Life has been moving so quickly, and this month's planner reminded me to slow down, be present, and move forward with intention. We only get one life, so it's important to make the most of it and embrace our own unique journeys.
This month, I'm focusing on being present, appreciating each and every moment, and not comparing my life to anyone else's. ❤️
One of my favorite things about Silk + Sonder is receiving a fresh planner each month. That little reset feels so refreshing—year-long planners always end up feeling overwhelming to me. This planner does include a year-at-a-glance page, but the boxes are quite small, so I mainly use it as a quick reference when looking ahead at future dates.
At the beginning of each month, I fill in the calendar with upcoming events, and before I know it, the days start flying by.
So far, August is looking very calm. That couldn’t be further from the truth, though! The first week may be empty, but we have three fairs coming up, a wedding, and two different football teams. The only problem is, I don’t know any of the practice schedules yet! You can bet these days will be filling up quickly, so for now, I’m going to sit back and bask in my freedom until I have to write all those dates in. 🤣
Staying organized plays a huge role in managing my anxiety, so having a quick-reference calendar right at the front of my planner is a lifesaver. It helps me stay grounded and calm when life gets hectic—especially during seasons when taking things one day at a time just isn’t quite enough.
On page 6, we turn to the “Future Log,” which includes two small calendars for the upcoming months. There’s just enough space to jot down quick notes—and honestly, I’m so focused on the now that I don’t even want to think about September or October yet. Bleh!!! Can’t summer vacation just last forever?!
On the opposite page, we have a piece of grid paper for notes, lists, or anything else you might need a little scratch space for!
Page 8 offers space to reflect on the previous month, with sections to capture your wins, challenges, and favorite moments. It’s such a helpful way to pause and evaluate what’s working—and what isn’t. This is one of my favorite pages because it reminds me to acknowledge the small accomplishments that might otherwise go unnoticed. There’s also a section to jot down what you want to start, stop, and continue moving forward.
July was incredibly busy and filled with so many memorable moments. My wins included celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, placing 3rd in the fishing contest, seeing Wynonna Judd in concert, and enjoying the Fertile Fair. Some of my challenges included health concerns, a cat bite, kid injuries, and trying to keep up with our busy schedules. My favorite moments included the Mintac tour, getting chickens, spending time with family, sleeping in, and watching Charlie make the All-Star baseball team and earn 2nd place in the home run derby!
Even with all the chaos, July turned out to be a fun and memorable month—just a little too busy!
Reflecting on these moments helps keep me grounded. Even when things feel difficult, life is still filled with so much goodness, and I love that this page encourages me to recognize and hold onto those moments.
Next up is the Monthly Intentions page. I love this section because it gives you space to set meaningful goals and revisit them throughout the month. With six categories and boxes to fill in, there’s plenty of room to jot down your thoughts and ideas.
It’s not necessarily a to-do list—it’s more about starting the month with intention and reminding yourself what you’d like to focus on. This month, my intentions are pretty simple, but I really do need to find a new prayer podcast! I also need to focus on running because this 5K is coming up way too quickly, and I seriously need to work on my breathing. Ekkkkk!!!
As I mentioned earlier, Silk + Sonder is so much more than just a planner—and the trackers on pages 10 and 11 are proof of that. These pages feature a mood tracker and a habit tracker, giving you space to log your daily moods and monitor your habits throughout the month.
I find this feature especially helpful for identifying patterns, which is something that truly supports me in managing my anxiety. What I love most is how customizable these trackers are—you can focus on exactly what matters most to you, all while enjoying such a beautiful design.
Silk + Sonder typically ships about a week and a half before the new month begins, so while I’ve already created my “keys” for each tracker, I haven’t started filling them in just yet. Here is where my run tracking begins - wish me luck!
Page 12 features another tracker—this one focused on sleep. I don’t usually have trouble in that department, so this is a page I tend to skip. The opposite page, however, is one of my favorites. Page 13 includes a gratitude log, which provides a line for each of the 31 days in August to jot down something I’m grateful for.
I truly believe practicing gratitude is one of the simplest ways to shift your mindset and find more joy in everyday moments, even if you don’t use this specific planner. Especially during tough or stressful seasons, taking a few minutes to reflect on what we’re thankful for can serve as a gentle reminder that there is still so much goodness and beauty around us.
I love that this page encourages me to slow down and intentionally notice the little things—the moments, people, and blessings that are easy to overlook when life gets busy.
This month’s theme is Velocity, and on page 14, there are prompts inviting us to reflect on what we’ve learned from moments when we’ve slowed down, gained clarity, and found peace. It also asks us to consider a time when moving quickly, taking action without overthinking, led to personal growth—and what we gained from that experience.
These prompts really left me pondering. While I don’t have a clear answer for them right now, I plan to spend more time reflecting on them throughout the month of August and truly dig deeper.
On the opposite page, we have space to write a “Letter to My Future Self.” This prompt encourages us to write a letter to ourselves one year from now, reflecting on the momentum we hope to carry forward, what we’re learning about our pace in life, and how we want to feel as we work toward our goals.
This one was also difficult for me to complete in the moment because my focus is so centered on my kids right now. However, it reminded me that I also need to make space for myself. I want to take some time to really think about this before putting my thoughts onto paper.
The next page introduces a new activity called “Velocity Tracker.” In this exercise, you’re asked to reflect on 2–3 specific moments, tasks, or actions from the past week. A table is provided to help you assess whether the way you’re spending your time is actually moving you forward or if it’s simply keeping you busy.
This is a really interesting tracker, and while I haven’t filled it out yet, it has definitely made me think about how I spend my time. For example, I spend a lot of time cleaning our house. While it does align with my goals and creates a comfortable space for my family, it can sometimes feel like a never-ending cycle when it’s messy again day after day because of kids and pets. It makes me wonder if I should just let some of it go… How do other people handle this?!
On the opposite page, we’re given a beautiful poem written by Mary Oliver titled “The Journey.” This poem is incredibly meaningful and pairs so well with the “Velocity” theme. It serves as a reminder that this is our life, and we get to choose how we spend it and how we want to move through it.
The next page features a smaller coloring page this month. It showcases a violin and bow with some beautiful details that I immediately started coloring with my extra-juicy gel pens! I’ve been in need of some relaxation time, and while I haven’t had a lot of extra time lately, I did find that even a few minutes spent tracing the lines was incredibly soothing. This truly is a helpful activity for reducing stress and creating a little moment of calm.
On the opposite page, there’s an “Acrostic Poem” activity. This poem uses each letter in the word “Velocity” and challenges you to create your own acrostic poem. When read out loud, my poem sounds a little unusual, but it actually captures some of what velocity means to me and how I’m thinking about moving through life.
Every Silk + Sonder journal includes a recipe, and this month’s dish calls for ingredients I don’t currently have on hand—which is usually the case for me with these recipes! This month’s featured recipe is Creamy Chicken, Corn & Poblano Skillet Casserole, and while it sounds absolutely delicious, especially for summer, I’m missing almost every ingredient at the moment. If you happen to try this recipe before I make it to the grocery store, please let me know how it turns out!
On the opposite page is an “Ikigai” activity. This activity is based on the Japanese concept of ikigai, which means “a reason for being.” The exercise asks you to reflect on what you’re good at, what you love, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. By exploring these areas, you can begin to identify your passion, mission, vocation, and profession.
I haven’t filled it out yet, but I really love the concept behind it! I think it’s a great opportunity to pause, reflect, and think more deeply about what brings meaning and purpose to your life.
Blank sheets are always helpful and a great place to do some long division, write notes, and jot down addresses!
Each month, we get some kind of brain puzzle, and this time it’s a Sudoku. I typically love these, but this one is extremely challenging! I’ve only filled in one number so far—yikes!!! It also includes a riddle, but I don’t know the answer to that one either. Double yikes—this is definitely a tough month for puzzles!
On the opposite page, there’s an expense tracker. While it’s a great feature, I don’t personally use it since I already track my expenses in a Google Doc. That’s one of the things I really appreciate about this journal—it’s designed to be flexible and can be used in whatever way works best for you.
I love that this journal always starts on a Monday, and because August falls on a Saturday, we get a couple of bonus July days! When it comes to the journal as a whole, I probably spend the most time on these calendar pages. With sections for meal planning, to-do lists, habits and activities, shopping lists, and daily schedules, I truly write everything here.
These pages help keep me on track each day and give me that satisfying sense of accomplishment—because honestly, there’s nothing better than crossing something off a list! I also really appreciate the thoughtful extras included throughout these pages. While I don’t always fill out the section about how I want to feel each week, I found it especially helpful this time to write those intentions down and pray over them.
This journal is seriously so helpful and has become such an important part of my routine!
Tidying up with one last quote, the dictionary definition of "sonder," and the back cover, that's all there is to it. I have come to find that a key part of my day is when I sit and fill out my planner with my cup of coffee. This quiet time happens before the kids are awake, and kicks my day off to a good start before the chaos starts. It is extremely important for me to keep a consistent schedule for managing my anxiety and creating much more positive life, and this journal definitely is a big help in that.
The Verdict
I have to say, I truly enjoyed August’s theme of Velocity because I needed the reminder that I get to choose my mood and decide how I approach each and every day. Every moment is a gift, and I truly need to slow down, relax, and savor the little moments I’m given.
Silk + Sonder has been an incredible source of support through both the good times and the challenging ones. It has truly become a necessity in my daily routine! Without this planner, I’d definitely feel lost (and so would my husband!).
I continue to be impressed with this subscription and can’t wait to see what September has in store.
I typically set aside about 15–20 minutes each day for this journal, flipping from front to back as I reflect, add to, and process what I’ve written. By the end of the month, my thoughts feel much more organized, and I feel more grounded. The beauty of this planner is remarkable, and its portable size means I can easily carry it with me in my purse wherever I go.
I’ve been so impressed with every aspect of this journal, and I’m truly looking forward to continuing this journey of learning more about myself—all while staying organized, enjoying a little daily quiet time, and prioritizing meaningful self-care.
