First Impressions
Beauty Heroes believes in a less-is-more approach to packaging. My products arrived in a neat white box, nestled in crinkled, recyclable brown paper to ensure a safe delivery.
Sándor is a new brand to me, and oh, how I love exploring new hair products. In the past, I never considered treating my scalp as skin that needs TLC; I indulged in expensive, perfumed cleansers and styling products that wrecked its delicate ecosystem, and I never knew the lasting effects they could have on my hair then and even today. Now that I am older, wiser, and aging as gracefully as a millennial can, I know better. Sándor promises to help balance your scalp with gentle, pH-balanced cleansing and nourishing treatments that will support and guide you on your healthy hair journey.
June's lovely Beauty Heroes products are from the stylist Sabrina Szinay's brand, Sándor, whose elevated approach to haircare is evident in her gentle formulas and simple hair routines. The products we received came in recyclable aluminum bottles and were accompanied by coordinating reusable pumps.
Of all my years as a true subscription box enthusiast, I've never seen a box play off past boxes as Beauty Heroes does with its Ritual of the Month card. It is brilliant! They refer to previous boxes, giving you ideas for which items may work together and how to mix and match different products. This month's card calls back to products from Ursa Major and Odacité.
The Products
Sándor The Grounding Shampoo, 250ml - Retail Value $42
I've always had trouble finding a hair care routine that doesn't cause my fine hair to go limp. This gentle shampoo has a creamy, lightweight texture, so I was surprised when it started to lather up so nicely. It gently cleansed while nourishing my scalp, and I felt like my hair had been through a spa treatment; plus, I really enjoyed the earthy aroma of cedarwood and vetiver lingering in the shower. It feels nourishing on the scalp, and at the same time, it also made my hair feel so clean. I was so pleasantly surprised with this formula, and I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever tried a nicer shampoo.
It is sulfate-free and full of botanicals like chamomile, calendula, and oat amino extracts that focus on keeping the scalp balanced and refreshed. My hair felt so light and voluminous, and it stayed that way for three days!
Sándor The Grounding Conditioner, 250ml - Retail Value $45
Sándor's Grounding Conditioner really puts in the work. Babassu and jojoba oils tamed my inevitably frizzy hair, maintaining a weightless and voluminous feel, while also softening and smoothing my strands. I love how this conditioner left my hair so easy to manage and full of life.
Sándor The Grounding Oil, 76ml - Retail Value $60
As with the conditioner, this product is extremely lightweight, but it packs a tremendous punch without making my hair sad and limp. I only used two drops, and my hair felt incredibly smooth with no frizz in sight. Argon oil, hemisqualane, blackberry seed oil, and vitamin E help to keep hair smooth, giving it a healthy, glossy finish.

Here is my haircare routine for fine hair, if anyone is interested. I've developed this strategy over the last several years, and it has made such a difference in how my hair behaves, so maybe my experience could help someone else. ♡ After 37 years on this earth, I've come to terms with my fine hair and developed what I consider the best method for washing and caring for it. After many trials and tribulations, here is my approach to having the best hair days. I like to go in first with conditioner all over my hair and scalp, working it into the skin with my fingertips. This softens my hair and gives it some well-deserved TLC; I let it sit while I take care of other shower duties. Then, after a few minutes, I rinse out the conditioner, take a small amount of shampoo, and concentrate it only on my wet scalp. I give it a good scrub, working my nails and fingertips into the skin and roots of my hair. This removes any product residue, sweat, dead skin cells, and other unwelcome buildup. Then I rinse and go back in with more shampoo, repeating the last step, and this works up a really nice lather; I let the product run down my hair, gently raking my fingers through my strands so the shampoo cleans the rest of my hair (this step helps prevent fine hair from tangling!). Then I finish up by coating a small amount of conditioner on my ends. I also stopped bunching my hair on top of my head and scrunching it all together while shampooing; this has prevented so many unnecessary knots and fallout. Verdict
I've never received a monthly subscription that offered me a full hair care routine, but I am grateful for Beauty Heroes for this month's curation, which turned out to be a cure for frizzy summertime hair. Sándor's Grounding range worked great for my fine hair, and I would definitely consider repurchasing after I run out.
