Ipsy Extra “Dare to Daydream” Review – April 2026

I let IPSY pick my April routine and came out with two new obsessions and one very strong opinion about Gisou.

The invite this month was to see yourself in a dreamy, ultra-feminine way and embrace your soft side. And honestly? 🥹 I'm lowkey obsessed with this concept. The overall curation actually nails the brief, which isn't always a given with IPSY. Let's daydream about this box together.

IPSY Extra is a $32 monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. It always provides great value compared to the cost of the box and includes 5 beauty items, including nail care, skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, and more. (At least 4 of those items will be full-sized.) If you are a makeup or skincare addict, we recommend this box!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

What’s Inside

LYS Beauty Triple Fix Translucent Loose Setting Powder – Retail Value $26

Shade: Resilience

I'm a fan of translucent loose powders, and this one is genuinely soft and easy to apply, with no cakiness or creeping into fine lines. The packaging gets points for having an inner cap that keeps the powder from making a mess the second you open it. That said, I'm not sure why I ended up with the pink shade when there's a banana option that would've been a better match for my complexion. That's a miss on the curation side. And honestly? No sponge included feels like an oversight for this type of product.

Would I repurchase? Maybe in the right shade.

Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Vinyl Gloss – Retail Value $27

Shade: Shimmering Cinnamon Spice

One word: OBSESSED. This formula is so fun. It goes on like a lip balm but transforms into this velvety gloss with the prettiest hint of shimmer. The shade is gorgeous. My only gripe is the applicator. I opened this right out of the box on a hot day, and the product had basically melted, making it nearly impossible to control. So this one's staying home rather than living in my bag. But the formula itself? 10/10.

Would I repurchase? Yes!

Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray – Retail Value $31

I rarely use finishing sprays because 9 times out of 10, they weigh my fine hair down and leave it looking flat and product-y. This one genuinely surprised me. I've been using it as a final step after blow-drying to add texture and volume to my part, and it delivers without leaving my hair stiff or looking like I applied anything at all. That's not easy to pull off.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Gisou Honey Infused Lip Oil – Retail Value $28

Shade: Glazed Plum

I picked this one myself; the hype got me. And I have to be honest: I don't get it. The formula feels fine on the lips, but the scent is so heavily vanilla that it reminds me of those dollar-store lip glosses my mom used to grab for me as a kid. It's a lot. The applicator also feels cheap for the price point, and the overall experience just didn't match the brand's reputation. It's giving childhood nostalgia, not luxury lip care.

Would I repurchase? No.

Beauty Vaulte Poutastic Lip Liner Trio – Retail Value $25

Color: Strength (Soft Red)

The shades read differently on my skin than they did in the photos. That one's on me. But beyond that, the packaging and overall feel of the product lean toward the cheaper side. The formula, though, is actually decent: it glides without tugging and delivers real pigment in one pass, which isn't always a given with liner trios at this price. The wear time is where it falls short; there's some smudging, which makes a precise liner look tricky to pull off.

Would I repurchase? No.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $32

Total Value: $137

Honestly, yes. The Drybar finishing spray and the Tarte lip gloss alone made this box feel worthwhile. My main frustration is the lack of shade control, especially for something like a setting powder. This wasn't a box full of standout winners, but it's a solid, enjoyable edit for the price.
