First Impressions

I am a complete science nerd. With a degree in medical technology, I sought out all of the science classes I could as a student and enjoy helping out in those classes as an ISA at my school! Because I have such a passion for science, I am always on the lookout for ways to incorporate it into my daily life (along with my boys' lives). So when I stumbled upon Curiosity Box I just had to see what it was all about! Awesome for adults, a typical box includes premium science toys, experiments, and collectibles. What did I think about this spring curation? Read below to see!

What's Inside The Box

Up first, we received a postcard with all of this month's contents presented. Utilizing real life photos of each item, it includes a short descriptive blurb and fun phrasing.

Also included was a booklet containing in-depth info on each of the included items. With short bursts of information followed by scientific explanations, this guide is packed with really good stuff!

Rabbitduck Plush

I love this box! You honestly never know what you’re going to get. This season, the first item I pulled out was a RabbitDuck plush. What’s that, you ask? It’s the first Ambicutie from a new line of exclusive plush animals inspired by ambiguous illusion figures.

My son was obsessed with this well-made plush. Featuring two different colors of fuzzy fabric and detailed embroidery, it looks like a duck when held on its side and a rabbit when held vertically. It’s truly incredible how convincingly it transforms between the two animals!

This unique and playful inclusion made my son thrilled to have a new nighttime buddy, and I have to say, I’m excited to see what other creations they’ll send in the future.

Inq's Curious Egg Molds

The next item I received was a set of egg molds. I had never tried molding a hard-boiled egg before, but it actually worked! I received three molds: one shaped like Einstein’s head, a diamond, and a D6 die.

While two of the three worked perfectly, the egg was too small for Einstein’s head. I used large eggs, which worked great for the die and diamond, but we’ll need extra-large eggs to successfully make Einstein. All I had to do was hard-boil the eggs, remove the shells, place the hot eggs into the molds, and let them cool. What a fun and creative inclusion!

Ambicuties Sticker Pack

Coordinating with the Ambicutie plush, we also received a sheet of stickers featuring some of their prototype designs for future creations—and they are so cool! There’s a moose/owl combo, a swan/elephant combo, a rabbit/duck combo, and a squirrel/dodo combo. My favorites are the rabbit/duck and the moose/owl. I’m really hoping they bring these to life, because they’re so fun and unique!

For now, the stickers make a great addition to my collection and will add a playful twist to some upcoming birthday card envelopes.

Yellowcake Spring Break T-Shirt

Typically, this subscription includes a t-shirt, and this season’s was amazing! It’s a bright orange color with a playful recipe for making yellowcake uranium concentrate. The design is super fun and perfect for the upcoming spring season. I’m totally loving the octopus wearing a Hawaiian shirt—it adds such a quirky, eccentric touch. This fun tee is sure to make some of the chemistry kiddos smile when they see it on Monday!

Periodic Snail Pin

The last item I received was a magnetic pin. This large pin features an alternative periodic table of the elements, originally created by Theodor Benfey in 1964. The elements are arranged in a pattern that highlights relationships more clearly than the traditional table and also includes the 16 elements discovered since 1964.

Brightly colored and designed in an adorable snail motif, the pin organizes elements into superactinides, lanthanides and actinides, and transition metals. Super fun and unique, it clipped onto my sweatshirt perfectly, adding a playful science twist to my daily outfit!

Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $70

Curiosity Box is a deep-thinker’s dream, and this quarter’s curation was especially fascinating. Featuring five intriguing and high-quality items, this box never leaves me bored! While it didn’t seem to follow a specific theme, the blend of functional, fun, and educational items made for a well-rounded experience. Though it’s geared toward adults, my kids absolutely loved this month’s inclusions and had a blast learning about Chemistry, Illusions, and Physics. My son especially loved the egg molds and plush, but I appreciated the scarf, coasters, and calendar the most. Overall, this was a fantastic curation, and we enjoyed every single inclusion. I really appreciated how each item was paired with scientific context, making the experience both enriching and entertaining. This box is such a fun adventure—I can't wait to see what’s in store for the summer quarter. Bring it on, Curiosity Box!
