First Impressions

Open Envelope for IPSY Original December 2025

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month’s theme, "Play Beauty, Spread Joy," comes through clearly in the overall look of the bag, which immediately caught my eye with its soft lilac base and repeating thin-line red bow pattern. The design feels festive in a slightly unexpected way – more playful than traditional – especially paired with the deep, satin-like red interior, which adds a nice contrast once you unzip it. That said, the bag itself feels noticeably thinner than those from the past. I was also surprised by the texture of the glittery bow details. Instead of being embedded, they’re raised and slightly abrasive, almost Brillo-pad-like, so beware of potential snags on sweaters and more delicate fabrics.

TOYFACTORY Superset Hyaluronic Acid Setting Spray, 30 ml - Estimated Value $7.20

Front of Toyfactory Setting Spray for IPSY Original December 2025

There’s something about unboxing a Toyfactory product that always feels intentional, and this Superset Hyaluronic Acid Setting Spray immediately lived up to that expectation for me. From the first spritz, I noticed how weightless and refreshing the ultra-fine mist felt on my skin – never heavy, sticky, or greasy – which instantly set it apart from more traditional setting sprays. The addition of hyaluronic acid makes a noticeable difference, keeping my skin comfortable and hydrated rather than tight and dried out, and I really like how the brand positions this as a serum-and-setting-spray hybrid. On days when I’m wearing minimal or no makeup, I find myself reaching for it as a quick hydrating step before moisturizer, or even on its own for a fresh, healthy finish. The clear, sleek packaging is visually appealing, the formula is completely scent-free, and the compact size makes it easy to toss into an overnight bag for effortless touch-ups, whether I’m fully done up or embracing a bare-skin day.

TARTE Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm Gloss in Rose, 0.7 g - Retail Value $8.00

Front of Tarte Juicy Lip for IPSY Original December 2025

Tarte has long been one of those brands I always enjoy seeing in a subscription, and the Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm Gloss in Rose did not disappoint. From the very first swipe, the formula delivers an immediate surge of hydration that’s hard to miss, thanks to its maracuja oil-rich blend designed to nourish and soften even seriously dry lips. There’s a subtle shimmer that catches the light without reading sparkly, paired with a soft toasted-coconut scent that makes application enjoyable. What really stands out to me is how well this balm-gloss hybrid balances comfort and payoff – the neutral pink shade builds easily but never crosses the line, making it impossible to overapply. The texture reminds me of Vaseline in the best way: cushiony and protective, but elevated with a smoother feel, better scent, and a flattering wash of color that stays put longer than expected. It doesn’t absorb quickly, though, so if you prefer a barely-there lip product, this may not be your top pick. But for deep, lasting hydration with a polished finish, this one absolutely earns its spot in my daily rotation.

PACIFICA BEAUTY Hydrodew Vegan Mucin Barrier Face Moisturizer, 20 ml - Estimated Value $6.40

Front of Pacifica Beauty Moisturizer for IPSY Original December 2025

Seeing the words "Hydrodew Slime" on the tube definitely made me pause for a moment – it instantly brought back Nickelodeon slime flashbacks, which I’m personally not eager to relive. But once I actually tried Pacifica Beauty’s Hydrodew Vegan Mucin Barrier Face Moisturizer, my skepticism faded quickly. The texture is where this product truly shines: a lightweight, water-based gel that glides onto the skin effortlessly and delivers an immediate sense of hydration without feeling heavy. As for the product’s formula, it uses a plant-derived, vegan mucin sourced from yams, which I appreciate, especially since it’s designed to support and strengthen the skin barrier without relying on snail mucin. I did notice a slight stickiness right after application, but it absorbed faster than expected and settled nicely into my routine. This feels like one of those products that could have a split audience… You’ll either love the gel-like finish or decide it’s not for you – but I’m a fan, and if it helps keep my skin hydrated and supported while staying fully vegan, I’m more than happy with this product.

BLISS Cool With It Cooling Gel Under Eye Mask Set, 2-pk - Retail Value $12.00

Front of Bliss Eye Masks for IPSY Original December 2025

Under-eye masks are one of those products I’ll never get tired of, and the Bliss Cool With It Cooling Gel Under Eye Mask Set fits neatly into that category of reliable, feel-good skincare that I truly enjoy. I’m especially partial to popping these into the fridge overnight, because the cooling gel material feels incredibly on tired, puffy eyes. It’s just the thing you need after a rough night’s sleep or during post-celebration recovery. The collagen-infused formula does exactly what I want it to do: hydrate, soothe, and visibly reduce puffiness without any fuss, irritation, or mess. While I wouldn’t call the results groundbreaking compared to other depuffing eye products I’ve tried, these masks are dependable and effective. These are the kind of eye masks I’d happily reach for again and again.

PINKY B BEAUTY Dat Gel Eyeliner Tho in Midnight, 0.25 g - Retail Value $19.00

Pinky B Beauty Eyeliner for IPSY Original December 2025

Eyeliner hasn’t been a daily staple for me lately, but this Pinky B Beauty Dat Gel Eyeliner Tho in Midnight feels like such a fun surprise. What initially looks like a classic black liner reveals itself as a rich midnight blue once applied, and the subtle shimmer woven into the formula adds just the right amount of holiday-ready dimension without going overboard. The gel texture applies smoothly and evenly with a creamy feel that glides along the lash line, and despite the sparkle, it played surprisingly well with my sensitive eyes. Its soft metallic sheen catches the light beautifully, creating an eye-catching finish that elevates even a simple look. Just be armed with a solid makeup remover at the end of the night because this liner is designed to stay put, and it definitely delivers on that promise.

The Verdict

This was a strong month for IPSY Original, offering up a thoughtfully curated holiday survival kit that leaned into hydration, comfort, and subtle fun without going overboard. The clear standout for me was the Toyfactory setting spray, which impressed with its ultra-light mist, skin-friendly hydration, and versatility as both a setting spray and a serum-style refresher on low- or no-makeup days. Tarte’s lip balm-gloss hybrid in Rose followed closely behind, delivering rich, long-lasting moisture with a soft, buildable tint that’s impossible to overdo and incredibly comforting to dry lips. The lightweight vegan face moisturizer from Pacifica Beauty was another pleasant surprise. Despite my hesitation about the name, the gel texture and barrier-supporting formula won me over and earned a spot in my routine. Adding a bit of seasonal flair, the shimmery eyeliner from Pinky B Beauty brought a gorgeous midnight-blue with smooth application and impressive staying power for nights when I want something a little extra. Lastly, the Bliss under eye masks are solid, offering nice depuffing results when chilled, even if they didn’t quite rise above others I’ve tried. Overall, this batch felt cohesive, practical, and enjoyable – full of products I’d happily use again.
