This month’s “Play Beauty: Spread Joy” theme is all about treating yourself — finding that one little luxury that instantly lifts your mood. I loved that approach, and overall, I was genuinely excited about the options this month. There were a few real standouts, a couple of so-so products, and one miss — but this box definitely felt more cohesive than November’s.
Let’s break it down.
IPSY Extra is a $32 monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. (This is the new name for what was formerly BoxyCharm by Ipsy, so you'll see those names used interchangeably!) It always provides great value compared to the cost of the box and includes 5 beauty items, including nail care, skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, and more. (At least 4 of those items will be full-sized.) We also get the Beauty Boost for $15/month, which includes an additional full-size bonus product.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
What’s Inside
5 Sens Happy Tears Eau De Parfum Travel Spray – Retail Value $29
Shade: Mystic Halo
Happy tears, indeed. I’ve actually owned and finished a full bottle of this fragrance, so I already knew I loved it. It’s bright, casual, and surprisingly long-lasting. Definitely more spring/summer leaning, but since I live in Florida, I’ll take it year-round. I also appreciate that this is a spray and not a roll-on, which feels rare for a travel size.
Would I repurchase? Yes.
The Lifestyle Co. Corrective Eye Serum – Retail Value $24
I’m still on the fence about this one. It’s an oil-based roller made with sweet almond and rosehip oils, and it just doesn’t absorb the way I like it, especially in the under-eye area. It also has a light, natural scent, which I personally prefer to avoid around my eyes. Not terrible, just not for me.
Would I repurchase? No.
Saie Glowy Super Gel Illuminator – Retail Value $29
Shade: Roseglow
I’ve used this formula before and loved it, so I was excited to try the Roseglow shade. It’s closer to my skin tone and gives that subtle, lit-from-within glow rather than obvious shimmer. This is perfect for a glass-skin makeup look. I love mixing it into moisturizer or foundation, and since this is the full size, I’ll definitely use it as a body glow too.
Would I repurchase? Yes.
Tarte Shape Tape Radiant Concealer – Retail Value $32
Shade: 61H Espresso
This one surprised me in a good way. Historically, Tarte concealers have felt a bit too cakey on my skin, but this formula blends beautifully and gives solid coverage without feeling heavy. It dries down nicely without going flat or sticky. The shade isn’t a perfect match for me, but I can still make it work.
Would I repurchase? Maybe.
Cheekbone Conquer Brow Gel – Retail Value $20
Shade: Clear Cristallin
I needed a brow gel, so I had high hopes, but this was a miss for me. The packaging feels cheap, the brush is very stiff, and if you have sensitive skin, it can cause redness. Once it dries, it holds hard, leaving that noticeable glue-like brow effect instead of a natural finish.
Would I repurchase? No.
Kosas Cloud Set Brightening Powder – Retail Value $38
Shade: Peachy
This was my Beauty Boost pick, and I’m really glad I chose it. The shade is extremely sheer, you don’t really “see” it, but it subtly brightens and smooths. There is a soft sparkle to it, so you’ll want to be mindful if you’re layering other glowy products. My only complaint? I wish it came with a small puff or brush for touch-ups on the go.
Would I repurchase? Yes.
Value – Was This Box Worth It?
Cost:
$32 IPSY Extra + $15 Beauty Boost = $47
Total Retail Value:
$29 + $24 + $29 + $32 + $20 + $38 = $172
From a value standpoint, this box absolutely delivered.
Final Takeaways

Overall, I really enjoyed this month’s box. Most of the products felt thoughtful and usable, and there were multiple items I’ll continue reaching for — especially the Saie glow, the Kosas powder, and the 5 Sens fragrance. While I would’ve loved a bit more makeup variety, this still felt balanced and far more exciting than last month’s curation.
Definitely a solid end-of-year box.
