First Impressions
Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month’s theme is ‘Paint the Season Bright,’ and the makeup bag definitely leans into that cozy-meets-playful vibe. The faux-fur exterior instantly reminded me of those Unhide pillows (just not quite as soft to the touch). I do appreciate the zipper hardware; it’s a cute detail that gives the bag a little personality. That said, I’m not sure this was the smartest material choice for a makeup bag. Faux fur and makeup don’t exactly mix well, and I can already imagine how quickly this material could trap stains or bits of product and start looking a little rough. I really miss when the majority of bags were made from materials you could easily wipe clean since that’s how I managed to keep so many of my older Ipsy makeup bags in rotation for years.

Now, on to the items!
DR. BRANDT SKINCARE Pores No More Luminizer Primer, 10 ml - Estimated Value $13.33
This Pores No More Luminizer Primer from Dr. Brandt Skincare reminded me why I’ve been a fan of this brand for years. It’s one of those rare primers that works great whether you’ve got on a full face of makeup or absolutely none at all. Even with my lighter makeup routine lately, this earns a spot in my rotation because of how well it blurs the look of pores and fine lines while giving my skin a soft, dewy glow. It goes on smoothly with zero stickiness, which is a win for me. Under foundation, it helps everything last longer and apply more evenly, but on bare skin it adds just enough luminosity to make me look fresh-faced and ready for the day. Plus, the fact that Dr. Brandt is cruelty-free and consistently reliable for my sensitive skin makes me love it even more.
SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Water-Resistant Velvet Eyeliner in Carbonite, 0.5 ml - Retail Value $25.00
The Seraphine Botanicals Water-Resistant Velvet Eyeliner in Carbonite feels like the dependable black liner I forgot I needed in my routine. The shade is a true, rich black; ideal when you want something classic and polished rather than those statement looks. I appreciate the applicator’s smooth glide and semi-soft brush (no fraying), which makes applying it easy without irritating my sensitive eyes. Once on, it delivers a clean, crisp line that stays put, and the water-resistant formula really holds through long days or unexpected weather, which is huge in my book. Overall, it’s simple, reliable, and exactly the kind of staple eyeliner I’d reach for when I want effortless definition without fuss.

F.A.R.A.H Eye Shader and Contour Shader, 1-pc - Retail Value $18.00
The F.A.R.A.H Eye Shadow and Contour Shader brush is one of those dual-ended tools that is worth its own spot in your makeup bag. F.A.R.A.H has really become a trusted brand for quality brushes over the years, and this one is no exception. The design is sleek and pretty to look at, but more importantly, it’s truly functional. The bristles are soft without feeling flimsy, and they have the right amount of density to pick up and place product exactly where you want it, whether you’re packing on shadow or blending it out. Even as someone who doesn’t do full eye looks every day, I find this brush easy to use, and I love how useful it is for more precise powder application around the eyes. The vegan, cruelty-free materials are the cherry on top, and something I always appreciate when it comes to anything touching my skin. A luxe feeling brush that gets the job done.
DERMALACTIVES Purifying Gentle Facial Scrub, 15 ml - Estimated Value $42.00
I’m always a fan of a good scrub, but this Purifying Gentle Facial Scrub from Dermalactives leans much more toward a peel-style treatment than a traditional scrub, which caught me off guard. That said, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. The product’s smooth gel consistency spreads easily, but the part I struggle with is having to let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing. Most days I’m moving too fast and forget to give it that ‘dry-down’ time it needs to work properly. Once it’s on, though, it does leave my skin feeling smoother without any irritation. The biggest downside for me is the strong, perfume-like scent; it’s more intense than I prefer in skincare, though thankfully it doesn’t linger after washing it off. While I don’t see it becoming my everyday exfoliating step, it’s a solid skin treatment for when I want something gentler than a gritty scrub but still need a little surface renewal.
ESTATE COSMETICS Rose Rendezvous Eyeshadow Palette, 6.0 g - Retail Value $18.00
This Rose Rendezvous Eyeshadow Palette from Estate Cosmetics really surprised me with how well the shades hold up. After swatching them, I truly struggled to wash them off, which tells me they’re long-lasting and possibly even a bit water-resistant. With nine shades in a mix of mattes and shimmers, it’s a compact little palette that offers variety for quick day-to-night looks without needing to reach for anything else. The mattes blend out smoothly, the shimmers pack a solid punch without any noticeable fallout, and overall, the pigment payoff is impressive. It’s the kind of palette that feels easy to use, even if you’re in a rush after work and need something reliable that won’t fade. My only real wish is that it had a built-in mirror, which would’ve made it the perfect all-in-one.

The Verdict
This was a solid month for IPSY Glam Bag, offering a well-balanced mix of makeup staples and a few practical skincare items. The Dr. Brandt primer was the true standout for me: reliable, smoothing, and beautifully glowy whether I’m wearing makeup or keeping things minimal. I was also impressed by the Estate Cosmetics eyeshadow palette. The pigment and staying power were no joke, making it an easy go-to for quick, polished looks. The dual-ended eye brush from F.A.R.A.H was another welcome inclusion, soft yet dense enough to handle both shading and precision work flawlessly. Seraphine Botanicals’ eyeliner in Carbonite brought a classic, rich black into the mix, and its water-resistant formula makes it great for long days when touch-ups just aren’t happening. Lastly, while the Dermalactives facial scrub wasn’t my ideal product scent-wise, it still provides a gentler alternative to the more gritty exfoliator products and works well as an occasional treatment. Overall, this batch feels thoughtful, practical, and versatile enough to keep things interesting.
