First Impressions

Hi – I’m back! After a break, we’re happy to return with monthly reviews of one of the most popular beauty subscription boxes out there: Allure Beauty Box.
This month welcomed me with open arms and a lot of interesting products, including two perfume samples (perfect timing, as I’ve recently taken a huge interest in fragrance), a brow pencil, eyeliner, a ~*magical~* lip stain, and so much more.
This box had a great mix of skincare, makeup, and personal care products (including teeth whitening strips), so I felt like I had a good variety of things to test this month.
So, without any further delays, let’s dive into this month’s box!
What's Inside the October 2025 Allure Beauty Box
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, 0.003 oz (full-size), Retail Value: $26
First up is the beloved Brow Wiz pencil, a customizable, full-size product in the October box. I opted for the Dark Brown shade, but members can choose from that or Taupe, Soft Brown, or Medium Brown (the product normally comes in 12 shades). Truthfully, I rarely use product for my eyebrows because they are naturally very thick and, fortunately, have a great shape. However, I do use Anastasia Beverly Hills tweezers every day and they are a holy grail item for me, so I figured the Brow Wiz would also work wonders.
I started off with the spoolie brush and liked that it grabbed onto the eyebrow hairs securely and brushed them nicely, making it easy to tame any strays. Then, I tried making swift, thin strokes with the pencil. It takes some practice; I was able to get thin strokes on my hand, but they came off much thicker on my eyebrows. Another quick brush with the spoolie helped blend any thicker lines into my eyebrows. The resulting look is maybe a bit too bold for an everyday look with my eyebrows, but I can definitely see why this product is such a hit.
Nulastin Lash Follicle Fortifying Serum, 0.1 oz (full-size), Retail Value: $84
This eyelash serum, made with peptides and keratin, is designed for longer-looking lashes after six to 12 weeks of use. I personally am not interested in lash-lengthening and am not comfortable using eyelash serums due to sensitivity, so I did skip using this product. However, it does have tons of good reviews online and is a high-value item, so it’s a great inclusion for those interested in lash serums (the brand also has popular brow serums).
Ofra Eyeliner Pencil, 0.04 oz (full-size), Retail Value: $13
I’m a die-hard liquid eyeliner fan, but I was still impressed by this eyeliner pencil by Ofra. I find many pencils skip along the lid or seem faint, but this pencil glided along my eyelid and into a wing easily. The color came off as a soft black, and I used a brush to gently smudge it out and pull the wing out more. This was so user-friendly and comfortable to wear that I’ll probably grab another pencil in this really beautiful green color.
Realher Magic Black-to-Pink Watery Lip Stain, 0.12 fl. oz (full-size), Retail Value: $24
This sparkly, black tube caught my eye immediately upon opening my box, and when I saw it was a lip stain, I immediately opened up the product to test it. Curiosity was killing me, because how could a liquid that looked like a starry night sky possibly turn into a pink lip stain? This went on a dark but mostly translucent purple, and I liked that it felt so smooth and not sticky. After only a minute or so, it became a vibrant pink.
I loved the feel and novelty of this lip stain (and it really does stain well, I wiped it off and my lips were still quite pink for the rest of the day), but unfortunately I didn’t think the color complemented my features and skin tone. Otherwise, it’s a very fun product and I hope they come up with more colors (I’d love a black-to-red!).
Color Wow Color Security Shampoo, 75 mL, Retail Value: $24 for 250 mL
This isn’t the first time I’ve received a Color Wow product in my Allure box, and I remember loving the scent and performance of the hair mask I’d received previously. This time, I received a color-safe shampoo that promises to avoid leaving residue and leading to dull color. I’ve been proudly growing out my grays and get an occasional color service to help blend my grays as they slowly take over my whole head, so I figured this would help extend those services.
The smell is really nice and fresh, an immediate plus from me. Performance-wise, I’ll need to use it for longer to notice any color differences, but it did give my hair nice volume and gave my natural waves a nice boost.
Sephora Collection Super Brightening Serum, 8 mL, Retail Value: $22 for 30 mL
This serum is made with vitamins C and E to help minimize aging signs, including fine lines and dark spots, and is made to create a more protective barrier against pollution. I noticed right away that this serum was very watery, as I almost spilled it just gently pushing it out of the tube into my hand. Despite the initial watery texture, it felt thicker on my face after applying and was pretty sticky as it dried. It also felt slightly tightening, but once it fully dried, it left my face feeling smooth and looking glowy. I like the small tube enough for travel, but I have other serums that offer similar benefits that I like more for daily use.
MySmile Teeth Whitening Strips, two treatments, Retail Value: $45.99 for 21 treatments
Honestly, I won’t be able to share much whitening progress with only two treatments, but because I’ve tried whitening strips in the past that I didn’t love, I still wanted to share my experience using these MySmile whitening strips. My biggest gripes with similar products I’ve tried in the past is that 1) they slide all over my teeth and don’t stay in place and 2) they leave my teeth feeling slimy and gritty after use.
First, the samples were a bit confusing. On the outer box, it says there is one Professional Whitening Treatment that whitens by one to two shades per use. Then, there’s the Express Whitening Treatment that whitens up to four shades per use. One of each was supposed to be included.
But inside, I found two single-use packets that both said express treatment; one had blue labels and one had purple labels. One had directions to leave on for 30 minutes, and the other said 45 minutes. Based on the website photos, the one with the purple labels should read Professional Treatment, which makes me feel like these were cast-off misprints.
Anyway, I gave the Express Treatment a go to see the whitening results. They were surprisingly very dry and clung to my teeth fairly well. I didn’t notice any kind of flavor, which was a plus for me.
While I didn’t notice much of a difference in teeth whiteness after just one treatment, it was nice that these strips stayed in place well and didn’t leave a slimy film on my teeth.
Tocca Laila Eau de Parfum, 1.5 mL, Retail Value: $86 for 50 mL
I’ve recently invested more time (and money…) in fragrance, so I was excited to try a new perfume in this month’s box. This is described as “Sprightly citrus leads the charge, with delicious vanilla quickly emerging and then mellowing into a bed of soft flowers and earthy amber,” by the brand, and I think that this perfume delivered exactly that.
The scent notes for this include:
- Top: Green Mandarin, Bergamot, Desert Rain Accord
- Middle: Jasmine Nectar, Lily of the Valley, Cardamom Blossom
- Bottom: Toasted Vanilla, White Woods, Golden Amber
The smell was bright, like lemon zest, initially after spraying, then softened into a vanilla and floral combination before settling into a powdery floral. I liked it the most within the first hour of wear, but then it became a bit too floral for my personal preference. Luckily, it stays close to the skin, so it’s nice to wear to the office or for subtle, everyday wear.
New Subscriber Gift: Orebella Nightcap Perfume, amount 10 mL, Retail Value: $35 for 10 mL
Right now, new subscribers also get a pretty amazing welcome gift, the Orebella Nightcap Perfume in a travel-friendly 10 mL spray bottle.
First, I love the travel bottle, which is very sculptural and prettier than the average perfume travel spray. This scent really impressed me from start to finish. Upon spraying, it smells like cola (specifically, a rum and Coke). As it dried down, it became a very gorgeous vanilla-and-ginger blend that just reacted really nicely with my skin. This perfume faded after about three hours, so I’ll be keeping it close by for reapplication whenever I wear it.
The scent notes for this include:
- Top: Ginger, Cardamom, Guaiacwood
- Middle: Vanilla, Cistus
- Base: Sandalwood, Patchouli
Note: maybe it’s the essential oils or the “'ÔRELIXIR™ base”, but this perfume comes out as a thicker, gold-toned liquid. I sprayed on my arm, thankfully, but I’ll be cautious when spraying on clothing (the brand does say it’s safe for clothing, including fabrics like wool and silk, but I’ll still be extra careful to avoid any potential staining).
Oh, and another note: This perfume contains almond oil, so it’s not suitable for those with tree nut allergies.

Key Takeaways

Overall, I’m satisfied with this box, even if not every product was a knock-out for me. I appreciated the diversity of product types, and I found at least a couple of products I’d consider buying again (or buying full-size), especially the Orebella Nightcap Perfume and the Ofra Eyeliner Pencil. And although the Realher Magic Black-to-Pink Watery Lip Stain color didn’t quite work for me, I loved the product and would buy it again for gifting.
