The September 2025 Box
As a long-time beauty enthusiast and subscription box reviewer, I've tried just about every make-up box out there. Medusa’s Make-Up, though, has steadily carved out a special spot in my rotation. When I first got the chance to review one of their boxes, I was curious, and now, several months (and many fun looks) later, I’m fully hooked. Each delivery brings something bold, cruelty-free, and totally unique. So, what’s inside September's box? Let’s dive in and see what this month has to offer!
Wrapped in a beautiful pink foil mailer, it was love at first sight! I was so excited to see this in my mailbox—I actually jumped for joy! This month, I didn’t receive the usual bubble mailer makeup pouch. Instead, my products arrived securely wrapped in standard bubble wrap. Everything was well-protected and arrived in pristine condition. Now, let’s dig in and see what I received!
Kicking things off, we have an info card that lists everything included in the box, along with the retail values. This month’s theme is “Wake Up & Make Up,” and it features a pretty pink lip print on the front of the postcard. Let’s check it out, shall we?
Lipstick - Sugar Daddy - Retail Value $14.00
As I get older, I’ve found myself more drawn to lipstick than ever before. I love the way it feels on my lips and how it completes any outfit. This month, the first item we received was a satin-finish lipstick in a muted, pinky-nude shade called "Sugar Daddy." It glides on smoothly and only takes a couple of swipes to achieve full coverage. While it wears like a typical lipstick and does need reapplication, the color is perfect for a subtle makeup look and adds a sweet little pop of color to my lips.

Darker than my natural lip color, this adds a creamy stain finish to my lips that adds a little fun to my daily makeup routine.
I Heart Me Lip Gloss - Listed Value $14.00
The next item I received was another lip product—this time, a tinted gloss that performs more like a lipstick than a traditional gloss. With its beautiful shimmery red hue, it’s absolutely gorgeous. Not only is the color payoff impressive, but the packaging is equally stunning! Shaped like a heart from top to bottom, I love the design almost as much as the product itself. Since it’s a gloss, it does smear a bit more than lipstick and needs to be reapplied. It also leaves some residue on things like straws—and cheeks!—but overall, it looks very pretty on.
This gloss was absolutely perfect for the Twins game we attended Friday night—though it did leave a bit of a mess on my soda straw. Totally worth it, though!
Totally Baked - Tubular – Listed Value $12.00
The next item I received was a pan of shimmery blue eyeshadow. Honestly, I don’t wear blue eyeshadow very often—it tends to give off a bit of a “Mimi from The Drew Carey Show” vibe—but I still thought it was a fun inclusion. I almost wore it to the Twins game, since their team colors are red and blue, but opted for a more subtle eye look since I was already rocking the red lip gloss. My niece has been experimenting with colorful eyeshadows lately, so I decided to pass this one along, especially since I already have a similar shade tucked away in my makeup drawer. I’ve tried this formula in other colors and really enjoy the color payoff, so I expect this one to perform just as well.
Lip Balm - Listed Value $8.00
August was heavy on lip products, and it looks like September is following the same trend. This is the third lip product we’ve received this month, and since it’s a lip balm, I’m totally okay with it. Our family struggles with extremely chapped lips during the winter months, so we’ll take all the lip balm we can get! This one goes on clear and colorless, making it perfect for both me and the kids. It has a light aloe and cucumber scent, which makes it pleasant to wear. Moisturized lips are a must—and this balm does a great job keeping them that way!
Baked Eyeshadow - My Bad - Listed Value $12.00
The last item I received was a pan of baked eyeshadow. The shade, “My Bad,” is a rusty red with subtle brown undertones—perfect for blending into the brown eyeshadow I usually wear in my crease. It adds just the right touch of metallic shimmer without being too bold for my more “mature” look. I’ve used this formula before in other shades and love its longevity and crease-resistant finish. This is another great addition to my makeup bag—I’ll definitely be reaching for it often!
The Verdict
This month’s curation from Medusa’s Make-Up was solid, though I’d love to see a bit more variety in future boxes. This is the second month in a row we’ve received three lip products, and I’d really like to see a mix-up with items like glitter, eyeliner, mascara, or face makeup instead of so many repeats. Overall, I did enjoy the products included, but as we head into fall, I’m hoping for a little more diversity. What was your favorite item this month? Let me know in the comments below!

To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You'll likely receive the October box. Some past boxes are also available for a one-time purchase here.
Value Breakdown: I estimate I received $60.00 worth of items this month with these five items. This is almost triple the cost of the box! That's definitely a good value for $25.95!
